Jose Enrique Pushing For Spanish Cap Next Season

Spain are the rightful World Champions,  and it’s not too often that a country is both the reigning European Champions And World Champions at the same time.

Jose Enrique – can he get Spanish cap?

Of course France did that in 2000, when they won the European Championships having already been crowned as World Champions by beating Brazil in the 1998 final in France.

Chris Hughton told the Evening Chronicle today:

“Seeing Spain win the World Cup is certainly something that any player in that country would want to aspire to.” “Jose had a very good season with us last season.”

“And he’ll be looking for more of the same.” “That’s the same with all of our players.” “But for Jose, he knows that Spain are the best team in the world.”

“He will look at the players in his position and will want to get to that level. I think that’s a normal thing for any top player.”

“The current set of Spanish players have certainly set the bar after winning the World Cup and, of course, the European Championships before that.”

“They’ve dominated in the last few years.” “But it’s certainly an exciting challenge because there are plenty of very good players who didn’t go to the World Cup.”

The man at left back for Spain during the World Cup was Villareal’s Joan Capdevila, and he was OK for the Spaniards, but nothing spectacular.

Joan has 52 caps for Spain with 4 goals, and cannot have too long left in Spain’s colors, given his age, so it will be an excellent opportunity for Jose to push for a starting place next season.

A good season back in the Premier League for Jose will be  a good start,  because there will be ample publicity back in Spain,  if he does well for Newcastle next season, and especially if Newcastle surprise a lot of people by doing better than expected.

That’s what we are hoping of course, but we all know that Jose is one of the best players at Newcastle right now, and was monumental for the club last season.

Comments welcome.

thought it was a done deal like, yea like the look of some of strikers weve been linked with like djalo, erdling and christea any of them wud do me erdling looks the best though, ive got a sneaky feeling we may get nicky maynard, dont know what ppl think but i would personally love to see xisco come good i dont think he has had fair chance to prove himself and if he has come back with the right attitude and willing to work hard i jus hope ch gives a good amount of playing time in pre season to show what he can really do

And then Barca could be in for him! Potentially, we could see the whol Barca squad in Spain’s first team!

If Gosling is only 3 months away from a full return, he’ll be back to light training already- not with a ball, but he’ll have started running, and back in the gym.

Craig strikes again, n1 but after 7 and no confirmation 😉 Maybe do it tomorrow if everyones back, new pictures etc.

Been quiet since sunday night about Gosling so it seemed like he had decided to come.

Enrique is one of a few class players in the team and would be great for him to atleast get in the Spanish squad. His and Jonas understanding up the left has looked 1st class at times for us and long may it last.

I agree with all yees that Spain messed up BIG TIME persisting with Capdevilla in the team. I mean what were they thinking leaving our beloved (CCC player) out of their superstar squad!? It’s not even like they did that well in the tournament is it.
They will be kicking themselves over that one I bet.

Craig: heard a few rumours and was wonderin if you could help me out

    1. That Dan Gosling is deffinately going to sign in the next week

    2. That Stoke have had an £8million bid rejected for Andy Carroll

    3. That we’ve bid 6.7million for Erdinic

    4. That STaylor and Krul have signed their contracts

    5. That Celtic have had a bid turned down for Harper and a bid turned down for Smith

6 (and finnally): That Vladmir Weiss doesn’t want to come however Onouha does :S

Would really appreciate any information as i have argued quite abit over a few of these rumours especially the erdinic 1 (considering i’m Turk living in Newcastle)

Turkish Magpie – from the correct signings craig has predicted , i think it is safe to say he or someone he knows works in a hotel in newcastle, therefore wont be able to help with rumours and speculation.

P.S keep up the good work craigcoozy , fingers crossed theirs something tommorow.

I hope we do get erdinic, what are your veiws on him Turkish? And I have also heard that we have turned down bids for smith and more importantly carroll, the Carroll bid in excess of 9 million pound. I really would be over the moon if the gosling deal is true, has anybody seen how much andy gray raves about him when he plays, I bet he won’t now he left his everton, my dream summer of realism is gosling, onuhuha, de guzman and a pacy young striker who could play off big andy.

I don’t think we would sell Carroll for anything. He has a brighter and clearer future than any other young English strikers at the moment…in fact someone tell me the name of a good young english striker…….lol

We’d be mad to let him go but I’d be happy to see Smith go out perma and Rang out on loan

Some juicy info there Turkish, if all true, shame about Weiss and Smith (not going!lol) and great if we really want to keep Carroll as he could well have a bright future ahead of him.

Would love Erdinc or Djalo to partner Carroll although arent there any good British options? Would be cool to boast a side with over half of the first team being English.

Just a bit more news for you lads – it appears that the club did approach Chelsea for Daniel Sturridge on a season long loan, however the little arse decided that the Town wasn’t London enough for him so he turned us down.

He’s a little money grabbing so an so anyway

apparently its Obinna to Stoke too, prettty much done deal
Is there any truth in this Tom Bradley rumour? just did some ashley style “scouting” on the net and apparently B’Pool are interested so maybe some truth to it? would love him, we need a creator badly.
plus we have been missing a bald foreigner since Sibierski left, every club needs one, its key!

Hughton dismissed reports linking him with a move for Romania striker Andrei Cristea – and also says there is nothing in claims United have registered interest in Sporting Lisbon forward Yannick Djalo.

“Those names are not even close,” he said. Tellingly, however, he said he was unable to comment on the subject of Dan Gosling, who The Journal understands has agreed to sign for Newcastle pending an appeal from Everton over the England under-21 midfielder’s contract situation. – CH interview with the journal

    transfer chain approaching?
    djalo to villa
    milner from villa to city
    ireland from city to sunderland

i’m not keen on djalo or erdnic, keep it simple buy payers we know can play well in the premier league, don’t needlessly gamble on forein strikers like we have in the past with kluivert, luque, xisco etc etc, I honestly think that Robbie Keane or James Macfadden would be much better.

Dan Gosling has signed, my best friend told me last night as he works with his mum in a Supermaket in Brixham. He is in Ireland with the rest of the team. Newcastle has to wait for the appeal from Eveton over the fee. The reason why he signed was he was told he would play in the centre of midfield, although I feel he is a bit lightweight at the minute.

So good news, roll on the season:)

He’s so small compared to what I expected, but he has a grip like a machine!
