After initially saying he would keep the lad at Old Trafford this season, it seems that Tom Cleverley may have persuaded his manager Alex Ferguson, to let him go out on loan again, so he can play a lot more games and learn his trade more quickly.
Tom Cleverley – will Ferguson let him go out on loan?
You’ve got to admire the youngster for wanting to play football, because he knows if he stays at the Red devils, he’ll get even less games than Michael Owen, which isn’t many.
But the lad wants to earn his money and get better quickly, so he wants to go out on loan – and if Alex lets him go in the next 27 hours – the question will be – where does he end up?
Newcastle were interested in Tom all summer, but since we have brought in Ben Arfa on loan, and are still trying to get Robbie Keane on loan, we don’t know if Chris Hughton is still interested in the 21 year-old – and maybe he isn’t.
Bolton Wanderers are hopeful of getting the player – who was outstanding at Watford last season, and Bolton boss Owen Coyle seems ready to take the lad should Alex Ferguson agree to let him go for the season.
This is what Owen said today:
“I am loath to speak about other teams’ players, I always am, but Tom Cleverley is a terrific player.” “He is a very talented young player. We made an enquiry before Manchester United went (on a pre-season tour) to America regarding Tom coming on loan, and Sir Alex said at that time that he would think about it.”
“They came back from America, the lad had been terrific on the tour and they decided they would hold onto him, which I totally understand.” “If that changes between now and Tuesday, that is a different situation.” “As it is, I’ve not heard that to be the case, but if it changes then I will let you know.”
It has to be a very slim chance that Newcastle will now end up with Tom on Tyneside – but you never know.

Comment #2Who cares. He is an average player who will never get to the stage of being a 1st team player and will probably leave in a few years to a Championship team.

Comment #6Where he will fit with our current squad ?
He has to fight the place with Barton Nolan Smith Tiote Gosling Jonas Guthrie Routledge BenArfa and Raylor = we don’t need him at all.
Even on loan, I don’t think Ferguson will decide to loan him out at Newcastle because he will not get any game in his belt.

Comment #9hahaha how things change. A few weeks back people were shouting from the roof tops to get this kid through the door. Now that we have Ben Arfa all of a sudden he ain’t good enough and he will end up a CC player at best beggers belief. This kid will be a very good player and i would love to see him come through the doors of SJP but i can not see this happening now unfortunately.

Comment #13i have to agree Toon1978, personally i would like to see our own youngsters given a chance before getting young one’s in on a loan, the likes of ranger could really do with a run out in the PL to get some much needed experiance (could do worse than bring him on against blackpool).

Maybe one more left back on loan, perhaps that lad from Man Citeh.
I’m happy though, especially with HBA.

Comment #19Who cares? He’s average at best. He’d be a decent full signing, but on loan? Never.
We already have 3 wingers, and two that can fill in very competently

Comment #22Don’t think there a snowball in hells chance of him coming here as he wouldn’t be first choice, he’ll must probably end up at Wigan who he’ll prove to be an excellent signing for (not sure he’ll keep them up though) and I think in a few years time he’ll be a regular at Old Trafford.

Comment #25A skillful player with bags of speed. However I am certain we wont be going for him. We have enough in the midfield area now, and as for strikers, i would prefer someone with experience or has been scoring for fun for awhile outside the EPL now.
