Sol Campbell made a good start to his Newcastle United career tonight when the Newcastle reserves beat Sunderland Reserves 3-1 at the Stadium of Light.
Nile Ranger congratulates Lovenkrands after Peter scores penalty
Campbell played 45 minutes of tonight’s 3-1 win, but the game was spoiled by Spanish striker Xisco, being handed a red card for kicking out at Jordan Cook, late in the first half.
At that time Newcastle were 2-0 up with goals from Nile Ranger and Peter Lovenkrands, with Peter again scoring from the penalty spot after Ranger was brought down by Sunderland goalkeeper Trevor Carson.
Campbell, who turns 36 on 18th September was signed as a free agent last month, and this was his first game in the famous black and white stripes of Newcastle, and he was replaced at the half by 20 year-old Ben Tozer.
Ryan Taylor made it 3-0 with another good free kick on 60 minutes, and even though Newcastle were down to only 10 men, Sunderland still found it difficult to get back into the game.
Cook did score a late consolation goal from the penalty spot, and Ryan Noble hit the post, but it was all too little too late for a well beaten Sunderland side.
A good win by Peter Beardsley’s Newcastle Reserves side tonight.

Comment #52hey lads i was sent jeff winter an email and he replied! what u think?
Name: nick
Not a fan of yourself Mr.Winter 😉 but a good fair
read…. would you sent off any of the challenges on Mr Barton?? Let
me know.
REPLY:- Well you are not a fan and you issue a directive that suggests I am
duty bound to reply to you, obviously I must be obliged!! I only saw the
highlights but it did appear that Barton was subjected to a series of
challenges that were obviously trying to intimidate him. You have to give
him a lot of credit for not reacting. Many players would have rolled around
and made the situation worse. I have dealt with the incidents in the game in
my responses to the questions posed by football.co.uk which will appear on
my site shortly, where I look at the situation where players do the numbers
game on a player and eventually someone should pay. I am suggesting that
eventually a player should receive a red card for a foul challenge that in
isolation would probably have only been a yellow but because of the apparent
repeated fouling of a team deserves the ultimate sanction.
I hope that you enjoy the articles and also find them to be a good read and
fair. Who knows you might one day become a fan!!!!
Best wishes
Jeff

Comment #54anyone who says bee arfa should play against blackpool, apparently he is already ruled out of the match due to lack of match fitness, might make the bench though, tiote will be available though

Comment #55Would be happy to see Ben Arfa getting on the pitch for the last 20-25 minutes against Blackpool. Start the same team that has been starting the last 2 prem-games.

Highly intelligent response!! Let down only by your abysmal spelling.
Tell you what, how about I get my 6 year old daughter proof read your future posts? Please delete any profanities, as unlike your parents, I prefer to bring my children up in a correct manner.
Or did you ever meet your father x

But I would suggest that, when a visitor clicks the picture of a story, that the story is displayed and not the picture. It’s kind of annoing, at least to me.. Hope that you will consider making that change. Thanks!

Comment #61from that reserve team that beat the makems – are there any that you think will not (or should not) appear for the first team at some point this season? By not taking loans from other teams we seem to have a chance to build a realy solid pool of players of our own for the future!

krul should be number 1
tavernier looks better than perch
ranger is brilliant
and Inman is a decent little player aswell,
but all in all that team featured 5-6 players that are capable of playing in the first team.

Comment #69Starting 11 should remain unchanged!
Ben Arfa hasn’t trained in 2 weeks so probably won’t be available for Blackpool and even then I’d like to see him eased in as an impact sub – let him pick up a bit of applause when coming on and start to build a relationship with the fans!
Deffo don’t want Campbell ousting Willo or Colo unless they make any glaring mistakes or lose form, they’ve been awesome at the back so far and I think their confidence would take a real battering should they miss out due to a bigger name!
Also, I still see Harper as our number 1, aside from his loyalty over the years, he broke the club record for clean sheets last year AND imo Krul is still too prone to mistakes!

Comment #72Batty by all accounts when he was at arsenhole last season he was consistently among the fastest in the sprint training sessions so it appears you are the knob rot.
On reading your posts I am becoming more and more convinced that you are a mackem, your knowledge of football is abysmal, your spelling is abysmal, your grammar is abysmal, your attitude is abysmal, you are definitely one whose shoe size exceeds their IQ.

Comment #75Dont post much Batts – still read them though to keep up to date.
What are the rules re loan signings? When is the date they must be registered – think its different in the PL to the Championship.
If its still poss I wouldnt be surprised to see CH pull a loan out of the bag for a LB or CF.

Comment #78people keep leavving smith out of their line ups which isnt ever gonna happen. he does that job of the dirty stuff so well that we barely notice him playing.
and also 25 man squad to be announced soon! with unlimited under 21s to be made available, my 25 are:
harper
krul
perch
colo
willo
sol
enrique
s. taylor
r. taylor
simpson
smith
nolan
barton
routledge
jonas
ben arfa
tiote
xisco
lovenkrands
ameobi
guthrie
carroll
best
and the rest, by my reckoning, fall into the under 21 category meaning we have one space left to sign one person on loan…. i wonder if this has crfossed chris’ mind already?
