News today that Newcastle are at the top of at least one league this season.
So far this season Newcastle have been deemed the most accurate shooters in the Premier League, and they also have the best defense, when it comes to allowing their opponents shots on target.
So does that mean we are top of one league or two so far this season? That’s a difficult one. 😀
Newcastle have hit the target with 65% of their shots in the three Premier League games so far this season, which is the best percentage in the league.
And Newcastle have also allowed their opponents fewest shots on target – a total of just 10 – also the best in the league.
Of course there’s only league we are really interested in and Newcastle are currently in 8th position in the Premier League on 4 points after 3 games, but a win at home to Blackpool a week tomorrow can take us higher.
The statistics were compiled by Opta, and Newcastle are also one of only two sides who have named the same starting 11 in each of their first three league games so far this season – the other team being Bolton Wanderers.

Comment #1This season will be a great season if we can keep this form going for the rest of the season!

Comment #2Not bad that like, 10 shots on target out of three games. Willo and Colo to thank for that like.

Comment #4Been a surprisingly great start to the season, ok against Man U we had little chance but hey it’s outta the way now.
To consider our defence and forward (s) have done so well and we’ve now strengthened mf with 2 potential cracking players in Arfa and Tiote.
I don’t predict a top 6 finish but I’d like to think we’ll finish out of the bottom 6 😉

Comment #5sure it was only 5-6 shots on target, Villa didn’t get any, Man U scored all of theres (I think) and Wolves only had 2-3.

Comment #6Yeah, I know it’s early days but I really am getting that giddy excitement about this season now.
You can see Hughton’s technicalities as a manager in that he has us looking organised and well drilled, even against Manure we lost because of sloppy errors and a superior opponent, not because the players were clueless!
The best thing so far this season is how well we’ve passed the ball on the floor. It was stunning against Villa watching our lads dictate the pace, making them wait, in their own half, as we picked out the right passes and runs…Absolutely awesome stuff!

Comment #9Irie-Magpie, I’d be happy with a minimum of 4 points, keep getting 4 points from 9 and we’re easily safe. Any more and it’s a bonus for this season.

Comment #10On the face of it, doesnt really advertise our games very well to the neutrals….we dont get many shots away if we got best accuracy and we dont let them have many shots!
Lol!
Who cares, id 4 points 7 goals from 3 games anyday HWTL
