Carlisle Aware Of Brighton And LuaLua Threat On Saturday

Kazenga LuaLua had an exciting first game of the season for Brighton last Saturday, when he scored one and made one, in Brighton’s fine  2-0 home win against Milton Keynes Dons.

Kazenga LuaLua – on loan at Brighton until early January

That goal was his first senior goal ever, and he seems to be taking to heart the Newcastle manager Chris Hughton’s advice, that he needs to start scoring more goals.

Brighton take on Carlisle on Saturday at Brunton Park,  and Carlisle manager Greg Abbott, who has a good relationship with the Newcastle club, has warned his players of the threat that LuaLua will pose.

And it turns out Greg himself was interested in taking the player on loan to Carlisle, as he talked about the youngster today:

“We had LuaLua on our radar for a considerable period,” “The disadvantage we had is that he went to Brighton last season for a big period and enjoyed it there, and he is from the south.”

“That probably made him choose to go there, but he is one who would have given us a different type of quality to what we have got.” “He is a terrifically exciting player who makes things happen.”

“We haven’t faced anyone with his pace so far this season. We didn’t handle him at Brighton last year season when he tortured Richard Keogh – it was the only time I saw Richard come off second best.”

“He will help make this Saturday’s game exciting and it will be a very tough one for us.”

LuaLua should get plenty of playing time through the end of the year down south, and then Chris Hughton will need to make a decision as to whether the lad returns to Newcastle in January.

If Newcastle are in decent shape in the Premier League come January, it may be that Chris will allow the 19 year-old to remain on loan for the season at the Seagulls, and then Kazenga can come back in pre-season next year, and fight for his place in the Newcastle team, after playing a full season for Brighton.

That decision is a few months away yet, and Chris still needs to decide who else of the talented Newcastle youngsters will be going out on loan this season.

And Fraser Forster had his second clean sheet in a row last Saturday, when Celtic easily beat Hearts 3-0 at Celtic Park, and this week Celtic, who have won all 4 Scottish Premier League games so far this season,  are away at Kilmarnock.

Fraser is on loan to Glasgow Celtic for the full season.
