Everton vs Newcastle – Match Preview

It’s an important game for Newcastle at Everton tomorrow afternoon, and Newcastle fans will be hoping they can make up for the terrible result of last Saturday, when we were beaten at home for the first time in 27 games, and by relegation favorites – Blackpool

We have to remember it’s just one game and one result, and it was as amazing as the 6-0 win over Aston Villa was, in the previous home game.

But in that 6-0 win, Newcastle converted a terrific 6 chances of  the 8 they created in the game, and as Jonas Gutierrez said this morning that game was never real.

Steven Taylor, Dan Gosling, Danny Simpson and Danny Guthrie are all out injured for this game, but apparently Leon Best is back again, although Xisco misses this game through suspension.

There are signs that Chris may even keep the same starting line-up for a 5th league game in a row, bnut we hope not, and this is the side we’d like to see start the game tomorrow:

Harper
Perch Coloccini Williamson Enrique
Routledge Tiote Barton Nolan (c) Ben Arfa
Carroll
Subs: Krul Kadar Campbell Smith Taylor (R) Gutierrez Lovenkrands

With the competition for places being so high these days it’s getting hard to even make the 18 man squad on game-day, and no room tomorrow on the bench for either Shola Ameobi, Nile Ranger or Leon Best.

We prefer Cheick Tiote to Alan Smith in defensive midfield, and Ben Arfa to Jonas Gutierrez on the left wing.

David Moyes has a fitness worry over Tim Cahill for tomorrow’s game, and Tim will get late fitness test on his knee injury, just before the kick-off.

But former Manchester United midfielder and captain Phil Neville returns to the squad after three weeks out with a foot injury, although Phil is likely to start the game on the bench, by all accounts.

Jack Rodwell is out for another 10 weeks or so with his ankle ligament injury, and Louis Saha is still a couple of weeks away from the calf injury he picked up over the International break.

Everton are a good side and will have gained a lot of confidence from coming back so dramatically in injury time last Saturday, to score two goals and get a 3-3 draw with Manchester United.

The Toffees are always a threat – right up until the last minute, as the Red Devils found out last weekend.

But the Merseyside club have not started the season at their best, and it could be that if Newcastle can be much sharper in front of goal, the Magpies may even be able to steal a win, but the least we’ll be looking for from this game is a point.

Whether we can do that of course, depends on which Newcastle side will turn up tomorrow afternoon.

Howay The Lads!!

hi my first psot so be gentle with me if you disagree with my post.
This is a long slog this season and one which we must stay in the premier league as relegation will be even worse second time around.
CH has done well though if I am honest not sure he is for me tactically or of strong enough character, I hope I am prove wrong.
He has installed a team spirit which is excellent however I hope he is stronger than the team spirit and can make brave changes when required.
For me with the squad we have he has to be positve when the potential of maximum points are achievable such as last week.
My positive team would be by November to allow for gradual change would be
    KRUL
    COLO CAMPBEL WILLIAMSON ENRIQUE
    TIOTE
    ROUTLEDGE or JONAS GUTHRIE BARTON
    BEN ARFA
    CARROLL

At this time we have limited real premier forwards, I do like the look of RANGER and also some of the second string midfied.
What I d hope is that CH gives me the feeling of hope at the start of each match and that the lads give 100% as I do supporting the Black and White.
    Howay the lads

Fair play to CH he said he wasnt affraid to make the changes and he’s backed it up. Great to see Beny & Tiote start but its defo throwin the later in at the deepend!

With our line up and Cahill being out my initial negativity with regards to gettin a good result has turned to slight optimism!!

    Come on boys!!!
