There are more details coming out relating to Andy Carroll’s assault charges that we all heard about yesterday.
Andy Carroll – let himself and the club down badly
Andy was granted bail in Hexham but only when he agreed to live with club captain Kevin Nolan in Ponteland for the next three months.
When Andy broke Steven Taylor’s jaw in March, in what was his last altercation, Kevin was asked to mentor the 21 year-old and try to keep him out of trouble but Andy has put his foot in at again, or should that be his fist?
The 21-year-old striker was arrested on Sunday morning and charged with assaulting 18-year-old Laurie Henderson, his former girlfriend, at her home in Ponteland, and Laurie is said to have sustained a head injury in the altercation.
Andy was charged with assaulting Miss Henderson sometime after 4.30am on Sunday morning, and this is not the first time he’s assaulted a woman.
In September of 2008, when he was just 19, he accepted a caution following an incident in Pudding Chare, a narrow street near the city’s Bigg Market. That was at 2:30 am on a Sunday morning and followed a report from a woman that she had been assaulted by Carroll.
Unfortunately Kevin Nolan’s home is just a convenient 15 minute walk from his former girlfriend’s home, so that doesn’t sound too good does it? Carroll will deny the offence and claim self-defense – oh my! How tall is Andy again?
Newcastle fans had hoped this type of conduct was behind him, but apparently it is not, and if the Newcastle club are not taking this very seriously, then they should be.
The club should get Andy some anger management, as he’ll never fulfill his potential on the football pitch, if he cannot even handle his private life and control his temper.
He’s let himself down badly with this altercation, and he’s also let down all the people at the Newcastle club, who have supported him over the last couple of years. If he loves Newcastle, as he has often said he does, then he shouldn’t show them up with actions like this.
Comments welcome.

Comment #3Spartan – I think it’s just Ed’s subtle way of saying that Kevin Nolan isn’t quite as quick as he used to be 🙂

Comment #4I think Ed means, kevin nolan doesnt actually live in his house he lives 15mins away in the nearest macdonalds.
I think thats what ed means, as in ‘kevin nolans home is 15mins walk from kevin nolans home which is actually macdonalds’

Comment #7Ed, stop jumping to conclusions as we only know a small amount of facts,
We should not be condemning him until the courts decide a verdict, it could come out its all bull, and you will be the first to post about always keeping faith in him. If it turns out to be true, then you can post headlines such as “Carroll has let himself and the club down”
Head injury could be anything from a slight bruise to half her skull missing
She’s a pissed off ex girlfriend wanting revenge and publicity, would not put it past her to be vindictive and malicious
Anything could have happened, we don’t know yet
If he is a woman beater thought staple a mackem shirt to him and let a geordie dyke kick seven shades of out of him on a daily basis in the local jail

Comment #8I agree with Ed, he has let us down.
Its after 4.30am and an 18 year old lass has a head injury. There’s enough evidence to charge him. He HAS let us down, fully guilty or no.
He is playing for his home town club, is number 9 and has just been REWARDED with a lenghty contract.
Who in their right mind thinks that this behaviour is acceptable?

Comment #10I just want to know the facts before I condemn the man. If this goes to trial, the facts will come out, one way or another.

The ‘fact’ is he has been arrested on an assault charge and not for the first time.

Comment #133 assaults, 2 on women and 5 if you count N’Zogbia and S. Taylor. Your right J88, we shouldn’t jump to conclusions. He’s probably dead innocent and I really want Andy to be my sons role model.

Comment #15Moreno, during my time, I have been arrested for Assault, GBH, ABH and even accesory to Manslaughter, or which, I am guilty of none of the above, ever before, during or after any trials (only one of them went to trial). All of those were blemishes on my charecter, and even affected my Army career. I have faith in the legal system, and so should you.

Comment #17This blog is turning into The Mail. TWO articles on how Carroll has let us all down and a pointless article about how Hughton could have lost his job if Colo hadn’t saved our bacon on Saturday.
I’m not sticking up for Carroll, but let’s not start piling up old speculation to build a case against him.
The broken jaw incident, reported by that Toon hating tart at the Guardian and then picked up by the rest of the sh1t press, never confirmed, or even commented on, by the club. Did it happen? Only a handful of people will actually know.
And as for this new incident; how do we know this lass didn’t take a frying pan to him? (or worse). We don’t.
Tarred and feathered by his own supporters based on speculation in the press. Brilliant.
Yes, he’s been a prize tw@ in the past and we’ll hear more about that when he attends court in the next week.
If he did the crime, he should do the time, but let’s find out if he did actually do it before we all start throwing away the key.

Comment #18Sorry Ed, for the most part I love your blog, but you don’t seem to handle bad news that well, particularly when you aren’t in full possession of the facts.

Comment #21(Copied from my article on BBC 606
This is what happened, according to the arguments in the Magistrates Court in Newcastle. (As told to myself by someone present at the court)
Andy Carroll and his girlfriend, Laurie Henderson, a lingerie model and ‘dancer’ (according to the Sun), split up about two weeks ago. Since then Carroll had been living at the Jesmond Dene Hotel.
On a night out at the infamous Bigg Market, he met a couple of girls, and then brought them back to the house he had been living with Miss Henderson, along with several other people (The reason for returning to the house is unclear, although it is probable he was intoxicated). Miss Henderson was sleeping, and was woken up by ‘noises’ in the adjacent room. She walked in to see Andy Carroll in a state of ‘semi-undress’ and proceeded to hit him (he has a mark, apparently). Following this, Carroll reacted by repeatedly hitting her, causing multiple marks and bruises, which were also visible in the court room.
So the question that the jury must ask is whether the reaction was reasonable; I somehow doubt they will find that it was.

Comment #22the facts are simple he puts his head in the lions mouth, he has a history of doing it, if found guilty he should be sacked. but until then we should all the hype. & certainly not speculate.

Comment #23dave 1961 – Both sides agree with this set of events. The disagreement regards whether Carroll’s reaction was justified.

Im pretty sure it happened and could probably have been quite bad. Shame really.

Comment #25Ed im i big fan of your site and always put across a good view of a story (or rumour) but i think , as many ppl have already mentioned, its been made out way worse than it actually is. However your article makes it out as though he smashed about good style and is a total dick in general. I bet if you went round the town at 2am on a friday or saturday night you would see a lot of similar scenes to what happened in this case. Give it 24hrs and the charges will be dropped. Unfortunately for Andy tho it wont go down well at all next monday!

Comment #27Thankyou german for the sarcasm
3 assaults, 2 on women and 5 if you count N’Zogbia and S. Taylor.
2 proven assaults,
one on a woman, yes unacceptable and should be punished although only cautioned so cant have been too bad which still is no excuse, second was a fight in the big market which i think compulsory and free with every drink bought in blu bamboo,
N zogbia fight was over late tackle apparently nothing more than a scrap. S taylor fight was apparently a fair fight in which he won.
The recent one yes was against a woman but has yet to be taken to court and until which he is innocent until proven guilty, although yeah it does look suspicious and if you read my earlier post i said if he is found guilty then lock him up, so read things before attempting to be a smart arse

Comment #28The only pass I will give Andy for this, is that he is young and unwise combined with a ridiculously massive salary and ever-inflating ego. Regardless if he is at fault or not, Andy put himself in that position by being out late with someone he has a volatile relationship with during a string of matches where Newcastle players and supporters need him to have his head on straight.
Andy has to learn as a rising star that trouble will follow him so long as he puts himself in that position. If he is not the one looking for trouble, then trouble will come and find him.
Lay low, lad. Lay low.

Comment #30Ed look at this with a more mature angle, he commits offenses to women after 2am so that usually means its after a night out on the tiles, so stop him drinking or follow him on his night out to stop him turning violent, end of the day there is so many guys these days who go out and act violent, and maybe Andy is like that, so keep him home after 2am and he shall be fine!
“Unfortunately Kevin Nolan’s home is just a convenient 15 minute walk from his former girlfriend’s home”
WHAT lol you implying he will go round there and batter her because he is 15 minutes away? wow if he really wanted to batter her he wouldnt care traveling miles to the house to it doesnt matter.
