The Sunday Sun is reporting today that now the Carling Cup run is over for Newcastle, they are now prepared to send out Nile Ranger and Leon Best on loan.
Nile Ranger – will go out on loan
That would be expected of 19 year-old Nile Ranger, as the young lad is just coming through at the club, but it will come as bad news to Leon Best, since he doesn’t seem to have made it at Newcastle.
With Carroll, Ameobi and Lovenkrands in front of both strikers, and captain Kevin Nolan played as a withdrawn striker when Chris plays 4-5-1, it seems there will be very little chance of Leon Best getting a game at Newcastle, and we’ll not even mention Xisco.
Newcastle are only thinking of lending out the 19 year-old Ranger on a one month deal, as they did recently with Ben Tozer to Northampton Town.
Middlesbrough and Sheffield United are said to be monitoring the availability of the 19 year-old, but Newcastle seem unwilling to loan him out to a London club, since he got into some difficulties there when he was younger.
Crystal Palace have asked about the player, but he will not be moving there on loan.
Leon Best is still recovering from an ankle injury, and he has been completely plagued by injury this season so far, after scoring a couple of goals in pre-season and looking quite sharp.
Leicester City, Crystal Palace and Leeds United are three clubs who seem to be interested in taking the player on loan.
Ranger admitted to the Sunday Sun that a short loan spell elsewhere may do him some good:
“My agent has told me about the interest. He said there were two Premier League clubs in for me and most of the Championship too,” “Obviously Chris doesn’t want me to go to a Premier League side but there’s a few Championship clubs in as well.”
“Chris has told me ‘Not for now’ – I’m learning. But I’ll take it as it comes and if I’m asked to go out then I’ll go out and make the most of my chances.”
It would be interesting to know which Premier clubs were interested in the player, and it wouldn’t surprise us if one of them was Sunderland.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1Could be good for Nile, worked for Carrol and Lua Lua is flying. Best ain`t premiership and it`s obvious Xisco mustn`t be doing it in training as Hoot`s doesn`t fancy him.

Comment #2Lad really needs to sort out his balance…looks so clumsy. Loved it when we turned and outmuscled Djourou….this lad has all the natural attributes to be a top top player.

Comment #3Xisco was good in preseason and coming on as sub against Villa he made a great impact. Then he got a red card playing for the reserve team and we have seen him since 🙁

Comment #11Don’t send Nile on loan! Keep him at the club and use him sparingly; he’ll learn more from the senior pros at the club.
The only way a loan deal benefits all is if it’s a PL club as in the case of Wilshire who went to Bolton.
Lua Lua is flying but he’s playing for Brighton I think. Xisco would probably be flying if he played for them but in the PL he’s out of his depth!!

Comment #12Ranger’s getting better by the game imo, a 1 month loan to a championship team might be a good move and then he’s back for the FA. cup.
Let’s stuff the mackems.

If Houghton is contemplating playing two up in sokme matches, as he did yesterday, Lovenkrands is not enough cover.
– Apart from which, he has been well off form so far this season.
We just can’t afford to send Ranger out and in any case, he is getting a few minutes quite regularly now. And which Premiership club is going to offer Nile guaranteed playing time? And it will hardly be to a London club, given his off-field problems, so that rules out West Ham and Fulham.
Dont talk shite.
