Fabio Capello is supposed to be at St. James’ Park this afternoon, and he will have quite a few Englishman on display to take a look at.
Kevin Nolan – Newcastle captain – in England squad?
The main player he will want to see first hand of course is 21 year-old striker Andy Carroll, who seems to have taken the England public’s fancy as the next England striker, but we also have Danny Simpson and Kevin Nolan, who could also make their way into the England squad.
If Joey Barton hadn’t got himself into trouble against Blackburn on Wednesday night, there was a slight possibility that the Liverpudlian could have also been given a chance.
There was news during the week, that seemed to have a large element of truth in it, that Danny Simpson was being seriously considered, but we also have to think that the Premier League’s joint top goal scorer and Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan, could also see himself as a surprise inclusion in Fabio Capello’s squad which will announced after the games this afternoon.
If Newcastle can get Andy and maybe another Newcastle player into the squad for the game against France at Wembley next Wednesday night, it is testament to their excellent form this season, and to the work of Chris Hughton.
Chris has been outstanding at the club over the last 16 months – and has been the club’s savior, no less.
Comments welcome.
Note: Since we’ve just seen Capello at the Villa – Man United game, there’s little chance he’ll be at St. James’ Park this afternoon, unless he can travel at the speed of light that is. But maybe his assistant Franco Baldini will be present to watch the Magpies take on Fulham.

Comment #9C’mon Ed you can’t be serious Danny Simpson for England????
With the number of experts (bellends) that have posted on here that in their esteemed opinion he is not of prem quality so how can he be considered as an England candidate?
Just goes to show how often the bellends insist on displaying their stupidity in public.
C’mon Danny boy you have shown a little of what you can do, now just keep up the consistency and you could well be playing for England.
