Pardew Must Bring Youngsters Through On Tyneside

What has become even clearer this last week, in all the upheaval we have seen over the last 9 days, is that Newcastle are 100% focused on bringing the youngsters through on Tyneside.

Top prospect Haris Vuckic at Newcastle

If there was any doubt about that,  it has been clear what Alan Pardew has been saying since he arrived, that bringing the young talent through is one of his big jobs on Tyneside – as well as getting Newcastle a win in the Premier League every week, of course.

Pardew spoke with the Evening  Chronicle today about the Newcastle youngsters:

“It is for me to assess when I think they will be ready.” “I have not had too much of a chance to see them yet.”

“We have good players here already, and they are good players that the youngsters have to get past.”

“You will have to be pretty exceptional to get in the team for a young player.”   “But hopefully we do have one or two that can get in.”

Alan will have to become skilled in deciding which youngsters to send ou ton loan too, because the lads must play games to improve – obviously.

Alan will have seen very clearly that Nile ranger can do for Newcatsle, and some of our other top youngsters include Slovenian Haris Vuckic, Irish lad Shane Ferguson, Australian-born Brad Inman, Amble-born Phil Airey and Irishman Stephen Folan.

Alan will get every opportunity to see how good these young lads are very soon, and start to bring them through to the first team at Newcastle.

The youngsters we have at the moment seem top class,  as they proved a few times in the Carling Cup this season.

Howay The Young Lads!!

I think, honestly, We have four youngsters who given the chance could become stars in the premier league.

    Nile Ranger
    Haris Vuckic
    Tamas Kadar
    Shane Ferguson

I just hope Pardew really is interested in bringing them on and signing more because that will make me like him a bit more.

Trouble is we need a Wenger style coaching set up to bring them on.

We are not exactly famed for bringing our kids through, even though now could never be a better time.

    Krul and Carroll already there

    Ranger for Shola

    Kadar for Campbell

    Ferguson for Gutierrez

    Vuksic eventually for Nolan

tavernier looked fantastic against psv in pre season when he came on in the second half, his one touch passing and movement was incredible as i had never seen the lad play before. think he should go on loan to a very attacking minded championship or league one club next season as he seems to have potential, although i have heard other people saying they have seen him play rubbish but i suppose andy carroll didnt do much for a while after he scored against buffon and now look at him.

potential is nothing unless its realized. play these young guys and see what we have. there are plenty of games where the opportunity will present itself. if not with the 1st team, send them on loan to a Champ side in need where they will get the time and make them ready for next season.

The current squad isn’t to bad off with Academy graduates:
Harper, S Taylor, Kadar, Vuckic, Ranger, Ameobi and Carroll. Then there are the likes of Inman, Ferguson, Donaldson, Airey & Folan coming through.

Yeah there`s a group of good young players in the youth system.
    So, what to do ?
The obvious plan would be to find clubs for them, preferably second tier, where they can progress through playing time.
Certain players, like Ferguson we could keep as a back up for Toro and perhaps either Vukic or Kadar are close to being the finished product.
And could be given some playing time (as subs)
One has to remember this is the EPL, a tough league, where any weakness can and will be punished.

fergusion needs to bulk up a bit more if he wants to make it, very lieghtweight

vuckic, ranger, krul even foroster i would see no problem in the first team

inman, kadar, donaldson, airey, edmundson still have a bit to go

on the fence about lua lua, could do a better job than routledge possibly

agreed Chuck….and the league is tight so there is opportunity for great success or diappointment this season with little margin either way. we need the right mix. obviously AP has been charged to bring up the youth…I’m thinking he doesn’t play much in the January transfer markiet on the inbound side…maybe sell those looking to leave or those we don’t need and backfill spots we do, but that probably it.

@Zangwill_Ho:Dont believe this crap, this is 5 days ago.Barton already pledge his future is at Newcastle. Also,Pardew did say that he is in his plans for the future.
@ToonAndy: I dont believed that wolfwinkel would be in the 4m range.More probably 7-10m
Also,Richards or Lescott coming to play at Newcastle is next to impossible,as there better clubs who wants them.
Forget bids above 5m and they wont be selling so mucg players. At max 3 would go.

I see a few people are saying we should go for A.Johnson and i see a few are saying we would never get him. You know the most ANNOYING thing about it all, two top north east lads one from Wallsend where i live M.Carrick and Johnson are playing in Manchester. That is a huge loss and shame. Its nothing short of disgusting. These two lads would fit in at our club perfectly atm. Because our scouting system was so poor in the nineties and early to mid noughties we have lost out big time. Adam Johnson a self confessed NUFC fan and a Wallsend lad (Carrick)plying their trade else where shows that we have been blind and looked abroad far to often instead of scouting around the local area. I think that has changed now which is one thing we should praise Ashley for. Players like Carrick and Johnson should never slip through the net again.

i feel we r doing fairly well with the way we r steadily feeding ranger into the first team gradually. we now need to start to do the same with vuckic the lad needs premiership minutes under his belt. we all know kadar is capable at such a young age so unless saylor is leaving i say loan him to a ccc team with a recall clause involved would do him good to be starting games . same with tavernier and ferguson get them a loan deal sorted for jan thru to end of the season but with recall clauses. sign up hamill but let barnsley keep him on loan for the rest of the season and lallana from southampton on the same sort of deal let them have him back on loan also wouldnt mind charlie austin from swindon get him in and then out on loan either back to swindon or to a ccc team see if he can perform to the same ability in a higher league. that way we can get good relationships going with teams in lower leagues and use them to give our youngsters vital first team experience. also wouldnt mind adel taarabt he looks handy like.

I’m NOT interested in your 17 year old with 15 in pace and 17 in finishing.

    Anyhow on the subject:

Kadar is better than Campell. I was very surprised that he did not play instead of campell in the L’pool game.

Vukic should be given the chance instead of smith and guthrie.

toon1978 – There was a time when I used to lament not having snatched Carrick – probably when we opted for Butt over him under SBR.

I think Carrick would struggle to get a game in our team these days however. He’s so static and offers very little in the way of goal threat/assists anymore.

Carrick is a good player and if it weren’t for Tiote then i believe that he would get in the 11. Both Tiote and Carrick play the same position so it would be difficult.

    On the Carrick topic..

The thing is with Carrick is we all know he is a fantastic player and he’s a local lad so should fit well into our team

But would you have him over?

Barton- Arguably the overall best player on our team and i would have him over Carrick even though Barton has played most of his time at RM

Tiote- Definately not, the best CM at our club. End of.

Nolan- many would say they’d prefer Carrick, but Carrick hasn’t already scored 8 goals this season (in a better team) and doesnt offer the leadership that is so vital to us that Nolan does

So in prospect Carrick could be the 4th best CM at our club

What we need to remember with the new squad system it more difficult when you look at overseas players. It’s not as simple as it once was. now it pays to get them when they are young.

What’s up with Vuckic. Is he still injured ? Agree on ferguson and Vuckic. Should be on the bench every week as a general principle. I also think Kadar is way better than Sol and just about as good as Saylor and Williamson.

van Wolfswinkel is very quick, i,ve watched him fall badley yesterday and break his collar bone! He is however one of the better players in the Dutch league at the moment and still a youngster. The top scorer in Holland plays for NEC Nijmegen and is Belgian ( Vleminjx ).

There is nowt wrong with people saying on here which players they like and which they don,t!
Its not about trying to manage the teams ourselves, its called banter, and we are all including yourself allowed to participate.

    Hencock 1989:

Ithink you need a lesson in literacy! Your first two questions are grammatically wrong!

As far as the youth is concerned, i,ve an idea that Pardew has his own ideas about this and will see for himself which players are good enough to get their chances. Time will tell if Pardew was the right person to take over from Hoots or not. I,me reserving my judgement on that until later in the season. STaylor will be almost definitely leaving in Jan!
