There was new from Sky Sports late last night that David Bentley will be having a medical at Birmingham over the weekend.
David Bentley – having medical at Birmingham?
That’s all the news report said and nothing much extra, but they made a big deal about it – like it was an exclusive and all that silly stuff.
But if it’s true it hopefully it is potentially good news for Newcastle United.
That’s because presumably Bentley would be a replacement on the right wing for Sebastian Larsson, who Newcastle are reported to have already bid a £1.5M fee for.
Unfortunately, no new news yesterday on the Larsson front, other then Sunderland were also interested in the Swedish winger – but when were Sunderland not interested in a Newcastle target? 😀
If Newcastle are close to signing Larsson, they wouldn’t want him cup tied at Milwall today, so we’ll look for him not to be playing this afternoon.
We have to assume no news is good news, because there’s little doubt it would be a great deal for Newcastle United to get a player of Seb’s class for just £1.5M.
Ben Arfa and Larsson for £6.5M, when Man City pay out £27M for Bosnian striker Edin Dzebo? FC Wolfsburg must be laughing all the way to the bank.
And we see the Daily Mirror are after Andy Carroll again – saying that he injured his thigh in a drunken brawl late last year – when will it ever end?
And maybe that’s why Alan Pardew sent Andy away for a week to Dubai.
Carroll must be a really good player in England, otherwise the Daily Mirror and the gossip press in general wouldn’t be trying so hard to pull him down.
Why do they always do that in England – is selling papers really that important?
After all they lost England the World Cup in 2018 – but we notice that’s not mentioned too much these days in the gossip press – but it was the sad truth.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1Where do the mirror come up with this tripe?
The media in this country are to$$ers. They love trying to knock down Englands current/future prospects/stars.

I think Vela or Dos Santos will do a fine job on loan, can double up as wingers or strikers when needed
But dont think their respective club will be willing to let them go, at least not towards us 😮

I would love Vela , iv’e always rated him he’s just never had decent run of games at Arsenal. Arsene has said he’s willing to let him go on loan to the team that offers him the most football so ”if” we put an offer in i think we’d have a decent shot at him!
off topic , team for today

Comment #10Ed started the Seb Larsson £1.5 million bid being accepted by B’ham rumour yesterday.
A vague report by SkySports said Newcastle were thought to be interested …
People are just making stories up …

Comment #11Ed, have you seen any Bundesliga matches in recent years? Dzeko is immense!
Big, strong and technically gifted, and not just that crouch -type way.
He’ll be a success. And worth 27m

Ed did not start the rumour that the bid was accepted. The whole point of Ed’s blog is that he picks up on news stories and puts them on the blog.
The Mirror and The Sun were reporting that the bid had been accepted first, thats where Ed got the rumour himself I’m guessing.
