Newcastle are interested in Swedish winger Seb Larsson of Birmingham.
Sebastian Larsson – unused sub for Birmingham at Milwall today
Newcastle have apparently has a £1M or £1.5M bid (take your choice) accepted by the Birmingham club, and we had wondered whether he would be played at Milwall today in the FA Cup.
That would have cup-tied the player and we felt sure that Newcastle would not want him to play in this game, if indeed they were close to signing him.
And would you believe it – Seb Larsson was on the subs bench, but did not play a part in Birmingham’s rather easy 4-1 win this afternoon.
The Blues were 3-0 up at half time, and Milwall scored their goal in the last minute.
We have to think Seb not playing is a pointer towards Newcastle signing this player – sooner rather than later, probably early next week.
We hope so in any case.
Comments welcome.

Comment #2If it was a pointer to Newcastle signing him, then they wouldn’t have put him in the squad at all and put someone who could have played. Newcastle still may buy him but I don’t think this tells us anything.

Comment #11heres a pigeon english translation..
Whereas l’ the return of l’ was awaited; international Algerian Karim Ziani in France, and on the side of Monaco. It would seem that l’ business is more complicated than that. According to Competition, the medium ground of Wolfsburg could finally rebound in England, under the shirt of Newcastle. The Algerian site announces an agreement between the English player and club with, with the key, contract a 3 year old and half, and a medical visit envisaged in the next days. However, this information goes to l’ opposition to this qu’ declared the father of Karim Ziani, Rabah Ziani with DZ Foot: “Karim was solicited by several teams which want s’ to attach its services during this period of mercato. I cannot advance no matter what is, except that d’ here Sunday, it will be fixed on its future club. ” He even announces that Monaco would be the hottest track: “L’ ACE Monaco remains the most serious track for the moment, but nothing n’ was made. Karim prefers the sporting challenge, without to neglect the financial side which remains important.

Comment #12Hope he signs! Much better to buy an up and coming player from a smaller club, than a player who dont play in a “better” club like bentley!

Comment #17Hang on, is that the team Pardew has put out for f**king Stevenage?
What about Sunderland? What if some of those lads pick up a knock, a few of them already have one or two…
Terrible decision.
