Yes it’s a ridiculous figure Tinman but wasn’t 35 million ridiculous for Carroll? It’s just an example to show what pressure success might bring. If Tiote learns to play while taking fewer yellows next season I think we will have a real battle hanging on to him. If we do get huge money I hope we spend it well just as with the Carroll money (if it turns out we do spend that money well). Still I’m hoping this is a real turn-around off-season where we really strengthen and climb up the Prem!

VERY good prospect scored a few goals, looks like Lua Lua with his directness but has more skills on the ball and good scoring ability.
I really like him and he has a year left so if he doesnt sign would be a nice signing.

I agree! The Carroll transfer was ridiculous, you could have had Benzema for similar money one year ago. Anyway, as for Tiote, i think it depends on how well we do this next season whether we hang on to him as he seems to love the club, which is great :). But if we finish 7th or lower i agree he will go, i think. I would predict more like 20million though, dependeing on his season. Goalscorers or Attacking Midfield always get bigger transfer fees than Defenders or DM

NUFC STEVE those players all play in England I think? It seems more likely we will bring in a couple more Frenchies who will expect smaller wages. The ones you mention are decent except maybe Steinsson but except for Zog don’t think we will bring any in. Sturridge would be great as you say about Gervinho but let’s wait and see. All the best.

Tinman you could be right about the 20 million price tag but for that I wouldn’t sell him (but what about our owner?). I think the supporters’ main goal would be to build a great team playing free-flowing attacking football but not so sure about our owner’s main goal other than to line his pockets. To him maybe an 8th place finish and a 16th place finish are about equally desirable as long as we stay in the Prem. Hope it ain’t so but his gambling and drinking are expensive habits apparently.

Again GeordieTwo, i agree haha! I think that Ashley does want the team to be as good as possible, just doesnt want to waste money. So i think our future rests on the shoulders of one Graham Carr rather than Mr Ashley

i dont think ashleys ambition is to fill his own pockets…30 mio to him is like 50 quid to you.
liverpool didnt come streight away with an offer of 30 mio..if his main ambition was money he would accept 20 mio for him probably..cos even 20 mio would be astronomical..more then he could hope for.. who ever dreamt his price reaching 35? my guess is noone..

I’m not sure your argument is a good one nightfa11. He maximized his profit on Carroll and even if he spends half of it on new players he can still pocket the other half. I think he loves those kind of win-win deals. He has money to spend on the team and money to make his pocket bulge. He has already brought in nearly 100 million on player sales in the last 3 years. Where exactly is that money? Has it all been put back into the team or used to pay off the debt (which is all his debt)? Not really sure anyone can answer that question although the Swiss Ramble is a good read about the money matters.

Untill Ashley says something know one will really know what his ambitions are, even if we sign our targets who is to say they arent bought to bring success and who says they arent bought just to sell on for more next window, only Mike and his best uns know..?

However i think the future is bright, the future is Black and White!!!

yeah i know what u mean.. im just saying if money was his ambition carroll could go for far less..why rejecting 25 mio offer & risking liverpool wont come back with an improved offer.. cos 20, 25 mio offer was already way way WAY over carrolls value.
