Sol Campbell has reacted to the strange news that Newcastle have this week sold their captain Kevin Nolan.
Sol Campbell – it seems strange to sell Kevin
Sol didn’t have a successful time at Newcastle last season, but still hopes to link up with another club for next season, and he has talked today about former Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan, and his transfer back to the Championship with West Ham United, and he has also praised the Newcastle fans.
Sol was asked about his reaction to the surprise selling of Kevin Nolan, and he told Sky Sports News today:
“Surprised? Yes, because Nobby is a very popular player up there and has done fantastically for the team, especially when they dropped down, coming up and then securing Premier League status the following year.”
“He’s the captain as well, so he is the figurehead at Newcastle, so it was a bit strange for him.” “I looked at the situation and it does look a little bit strange, but the business up there is slightly different.”
“But they keep faith and they are great fans up there. The support around the north-east is second to none up and down the country.” “It would be nice for them to win something, really.”
The selling of Kevin and the probable departure of Joey Barton, will mean there will be a number of new players and leaders at the club next season, and that can be good or bad of course = we’ll hope it’s going to be a good thing.
And we cannot think Kevin Nolan is very happy, because he seemed to love things at Newcatsle, and he seemed a player made to play for the Tyneside club.
Unfortunately, he was only on Tyneside for a short 30 months, but he was just fantastic for the club over the last two seasons, both of which were successful ones for the club, following relegation two years ago.
But Newcastle seem to have moved quickly in the transfer market this summer, and by the end of today they could have also signed Demba Ba and Neil Taylor.
We’re all waiting some news on Demba Ba, and we wonder how that knee of Demba’s is standing up to the Newcastle medical?
And of course if nothing is reported today, there will be rumors that he may have failed his medical, but we’ll hear the news, good or bad, soon enough.
Comments welcome.

I don’t think anyone realises the legacy of Shepherd when we had no European football and were buying Owen, Luque, Boumsong Duff etc on crazy money. That level of cumulative debt takes a heck of a long time to clear.
Ashley is not cuddly but he is a hard headed and extremely good business man, who doesn’t allow sentiment to get in the way. All the people on here with their wish lists and pointing the finger would have us bankcrupt in weeks !

Comment #47If ever MA wanted to do a runner it is now.Approx 110 mill has been recoverd
AC+sky+season tickets if he has put in 280 mill all told then anyone bidding 170mill for us would be a great deal.He could walk away, but i think he sees us as a nice cash cow-spend very little and reap massive benefits if our younger players i.e Fergie blossom then its win win-Thank you very much!

Comment #49onepeterb the treatment is called mosaicplastie not sure if that’s the correct spelling, they use a micro punch to remove small rings of good cartilage this is set into a drilled hole, with the use of stem-cells, hence the term mosaic, the knee has to be immobilised for up to 6 months.

Comment #51You know in the latter part of the last season, our team looks as if they were playing human pin ball, lashing the ball all over the place! We cetainly need to sign more player who can keep the ball on the grass, distribute and pass better then those we have now!

Comment #55Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has revealed the club are still some distance away from completing a deal for West Ham striker Demba Ba.
The Senegal man, who failed a medical at Stoke in January, has visited Tyneside for talks and a medical.
“There is an issue about his medical, and there has been in the past,” Pardew told BBC Newcastle.

Comment #68Nolan sale would be fine if it meant an ambitious bid to bring in top quality replacements. £35mil pocketed for Carroll – injured freebie who had a purple patch brought in as his replacement tells it’s own story.
