Sol Campbell has reacted to the strange news that Newcastle have this week sold their captain Kevin Nolan.
Sol Campbell – it seems strange to sell Kevin
Sol didn’t have a successful time at Newcastle last season, but still hopes to link up with another club for next season, and he has talked today about former Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan, and his transfer back to the Championship with West Ham United, and he has also praised the Newcastle fans.
Sol was asked about his reaction to the surprise selling of Kevin Nolan, and he told Sky Sports News today:
“Surprised? Yes, because Nobby is a very popular player up there and has done fantastically for the team, especially when they dropped down, coming up and then securing Premier League status the following year.”
“He’s the captain as well, so he is the figurehead at Newcastle, so it was a bit strange for him.” “I looked at the situation and it does look a little bit strange, but the business up there is slightly different.”
“But they keep faith and they are great fans up there. The support around the north-east is second to none up and down the country.” “It would be nice for them to win something, really.”
The selling of Kevin and the probable departure of Joey Barton, will mean there will be a number of new players and leaders at the club next season, and that can be good or bad of course = we’ll hope it’s going to be a good thing.
And we cannot think Kevin Nolan is very happy, because he seemed to love things at Newcatsle, and he seemed a player made to play for the Tyneside club.
Unfortunately, he was only on Tyneside for a short 30 months, but he was just fantastic for the club over the last two seasons, both of which were successful ones for the club, following relegation two years ago.
But Newcastle seem to have moved quickly in the transfer market this summer, and by the end of today they could have also signed Demba Ba and Neil Taylor.
We’re all waiting some news on Demba Ba, and we wonder how that knee of Demba’s is standing up to the Newcastle medical?
And of course if nothing is reported today, there will be rumors that he may have failed his medical, but we’ll hear the news, good or bad, soon enough.
Comments welcome.

Comment #81I would love demba ba to come to the toon. Big and powerful its what we need. I still feel someone like defoe to play alongside a big striker would do nicely….. I hate to say it but we need someone like chicharito or bent

Comment #112Eastander – I only remember as he has player of the tourney in last u21 Euro Champs, and scored 7 goals in 4 games, I wanted us to buy him then but Hamburg did. Don’t think hes fulfilled his potential since then though.
If people are going to make up bullsh*t rumours you’d think theyd at least get the basics right such as there team wouldnt you haha

Comment #116Marcus Berg is renowned for his heading ability, first touches, and being able to shoot and pass with both his right and left foot. He is also known for his tactical dribbles and scoring from unusual angles. Berg scored 15 goals in his first season in the Eredivisie, having only played 25 In his second season for Groningen, he scored 13 goals in the first 15 matches and was by then the second highest goalscorer in the league. He also showed his scoring ability in the 2009 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship, which he scored a record-breaking seven goals in four matches. His excellent performance earned him the player of the tournament award. – Wiki
Last couple of seasons he’s been far from prolific

Comment #120Pards has told BBC Newcastle there is a major problem with BA`s medical and he`s not sure how it will turn out.
Simply put the club will not sign him and risk losing big money on a signing on fee and stuck with a potentially expensive contract if they can`t insure him. Would you take the risk? NO!!
