For the last week or now, we have been expecting Newcastle to sign Swansea’s Neil Taylor.
Neil Taylor – may not be coming to Newcastle
And we mentioned yesterday, there had been a delay in the contract signing, and Everton were also in for the player.
And today sources in Swansea are saying that Taylor has in fact rejected a move to Newcastle and could join Everton instead.
The left- back, who can also play in left midfield, was a much improved player last season for Swansea, and Newcastle had found out he had a £1M release clause in his contract.
Taylor started his career at Manchester City, but signed on at Wrexham, in 2007 before moving to Swansea only last summer, and last season he made 32 appearances for the newly promoted side.
If this news is true, we can only assume he was not happy with the terms offered by Newcastle, and if he does move to Everton, that the Toffees were willing to offer him a better contract in some way – either better wages, a longer deal or a mixture of both.
It’s becoming very clear that Newcastle will only go so far with each contract, and if a player ends up not signing it, that’s it.
That’s even happened this summer with the former Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan, who is now a West Ham player,
We suppose you win some, you lose some.
Newcastle may have lost out on Neil Taylor.
Comments welcome.

Just think an opta rating of 5 (below average)in the championship is not the type of player we should be looking at!!
OPTA is based upon total alround performances of players and is put together with professional and scientists, thats why i give it alot more credence than just seeing a player on You tube!
Izzaguire gets a 7.5 rating. Could get him for a couple of mill more maybe with player exchange

Comment #45Davyb(41)…”why dont u get it barton doesn’t fit into pardews plans thats why he aint getting a new deal”…it’s not what AP has said from the moment he arrived here, in fact, completely the opposite – so you might be right on this one as anything our manager says, the opposite happens! It’s hilarious!

Comment #46bavybtoon pardew is on record as saying he hopes joey can agree a new deal so where are u getting that he doesnt fit into his plans, and on enrique im not clinging onto anything but a member of taylors family said this last week and it looks as though its turning out to be true i am a realist and know full well what jose was looking to move on for but dont confuse what i wrote with me ‘clinging’ onto the lad cause i aint.

Comment #56DavyB(43)…I’m pleased for you personally, but it will be to the detriment of NUFC when we sell off the heart and soul of the team (whilst retaining the mediocre and deadwood) – we are busy tearing up football logic and believing a bit spin about “possession football” etc. – why couldn’t there be a sensible middle ground of keeping that spirit and adding dashes of foreign (Gallic) flare? – the answer is because there is a nasty vindictiveness within the powers that rule that want to cost-cut, pursue profit and then eventually (though not yet because they can bleed people like you for a few years yet) sell up. If the present “Baldrick” plan works we will be constantly selling off and re-building and Prem also-rans…if it goes wrong, it’s relegation within a couple of years. To me, neither is acceptable.

Comment #64Take your point Angry but I would still trust Graham Carr’s opinion, if he see’s something in the lad then it’s worth a punt. And as I said I want him to be back up and to be exposed gradually.

Comment #65I actually have sympathy for you Stuart(63), because I believe you are a decent bloke really. For me, you “possers” fall into 2 categories: the first, are people like yourself, who actually genuinely (but mistakenly)think we are trying to retain our best players and trying to build something of worth on the pitch that has been started in the last two seasons; the second, are those that believe all the good players at NUFC are greedy mercenaries who are not worth the effort to retain because there are players abroad that will work for cheaper rates and will fit straight in to establish Newcastle as a force again!
So I do have sympathy, because I think your motivation is more admirable…
It is with people like you that the future of NUFC depends upon…you are not a lemming! You have the power to get rid of this rotten lot! NUFC fans around the World Unite! You have nothing to lose but your Hair! 😉

Comment #69Solano (56 & 65) brilliant comments, accurate rational and astute.
davybtoon claims the team is ‘evolving’: that there is an ‘evolution’ underway at NUFC, and apparently ‘were gonna b better for it’. As you suggest in your comment Solano, (‘why couldn’t there be a sensible middle ground of keeping that spirit and adding dashes of foreign (Gallic) flare?’) ‘evolution’ involves improving on the aspects of survival already in place-The semantics of the word Davyb used is crucial here-no living species has ever ‘evolved’ without retaining it’s stronger characteristics and building on them in order to adapt and progress, and prolong survival. Those beasts who retain the redundant characteristics and fail to adapt flounder to extinction or degenerate and recoil into the backwaters of the food chain.

Comment #70And Stuart, oh my, I think you should stick to reading the articles and hold your tongue as you are only embarassing yourself by claiming you don’t want to argue-defeating your object in the process of posting. You just can’t help yourself. Furthermore you, quite sensibly, do not believe what you read on newcastlerumours yet still quote them only to deny their viability-how can anyone take you seriously and appreciate your ‘approval/disapproval’ with such contradictory and hypocritical comments.
And Leon Best prolific? Really?

Comment #72GoalsBrings (69) Darwinian Theory -this blog is moving on to greater things. The so-called “possers” are actually the “Neanderthals” and us “neggers” are actually reacting to our changing and threatened environment…..as that other great theorist and social anthropologist, David Bowie, once said – “better make way for the Homo-Superior” 🙂
