News today of the Neil Taylor saga – that Newcatsle are still confident of signing the Welsh International left-back – for £1M.
Neil Taylor – may sue Swansea for breach of contract
As we reported over the weekend Swansea are saying that the release clause in his contract only says he can talk to other clubs if they bid £1M, but that’s not the bid they will accept for the player.
What planet are they living on?
Taylor’s negotiations have dragged on, and he was expected to sign well over a week ago, but that release clause is the sticking point.
And the news yesterday was that Swansea now wanted £10M for him, but whether that ridiculously inflated fee has any truth to it, we don’t know, but that was being reported – and yes it was a Sunday, after all.
😀
The Newcastle Journal have tried to clarify the situation with the club, but they have so far been unsuccessful, but that would certainly help clear things up if they can do that.
Blackburn tried to take the same position when they were trying to get more than £16.5M from Manchester United for their young center-back, Phil Jones, and they slapped a £23M price on him,
But they backed away from that position, when they came to their senses, and the lad went for what his release clause stated – £16.5M.
Taylor is even considering whether to sue Swansea over breach of contract, and has already contacted the PFA to discuss the matter, and that should be the next news to break.
That’s unless Swansea back down from their rather shaky legal position.
Comments welcome.

Comment #2How can you have a clause in someones contract saying you can talk to another team if they offer 1m but actually we want 10m!
There should be a standard form of contract for players along the lines of a JCT for those who know contruction where by there are generic clauses which everyone knows what they mean, no inserting your own rediculous ones like this!

Not 100 percent sure but hearing NUFC has been sold for 200M to a Qatar investor, hope it true it would mean Ashley out Barton stay and lots of money to buy whoever we want and maybe get a better manger (pardew ok but need better) only a rumour atm not offical but could be true

Transfer fee quoted – £10M??
Doesn’t make sense because release clause would activate his release from the club.

Fingers crossed it’s true.
I don’t believe Ashley loves the club like an owner should.
I do like the Ashley transfer policy, but I don’t trust them to spend as much as 52,000 paying customers deserve.

Comment #19if tottenham need to sell in order to spend i definitely think we should go after lennon, he’s virtually unplayable when on form and with ben arfa and cabaye to release him with his pace things could be interesting… especially with Ba in the middle

And you think the Quatari Royal Family will?
NO WAY!
I dont want our club to be run like Citeah!
I dont like all of this Championship Manager Style club ownership at all.
I would rather ‘get by’ with someone like Ashley in charge over having ‘superstars’ at the club only here for a payday.

‘i cudnt care how much he spends as long as the sqaud is better than last season n as it stands its way better’
There is no way the squad is ‘way better’ than last season. We’ve made one potentially good signing in cabaye and two risky signings in Ba and morveux, fair enough they were free, good business if they can function, even better business if they are backed up with signing proven class-which requires spending cash-no PL team can be a success with a squad of free transfers. We have no proven goalscorer at the club since we haven’t replaced carroll or nolan as players who have been shown as more than capable of scoring in the PL.
The return of Ben Arfa and Gosling does indeed add more depth to the squad and both players look exciting but again, we haven’t seen either play for some time and can not guarantee their success in the team. Not only this but we lack depth in defence not midfield-we need a RB as Perch and Simpson are not PL standard. We need back up or replacement for Jose. We arguably need another centre half to go with colo, williamson and s taylor.
What i don’t understand is how any supporter of a football club can be truly content with us spending no money when it is clear that we need investment in several areas of the squad. With the current set up we will struggle next season, to improve we need to spend on proven quality.

Comment #35We are missing our two key goal scorers, about 25 to 30 goals to find. hopefully Ba will stay fit and find about 15 to 19 of those but it’s a big ask.
We need another striker or 2 depending on the quality, it is a risk relying on injury prone players.

Comment #36amusing saga all about a player no-one in swansea really rates at a million let alone million. He lasted 90 seconds of the play off final before a better player(monk) arrived. Hence nearly cost us promotion and had has one year in the championship after signing from ‘wrexham’. He cant head, isn’t strong in the tackle and is his poor defending is covered up by the better defenders next to him(Williams)’Swansea style of play(keeping the ball) and the fact that the right sided players of the opposing team are more concerned about doubling up on Scott Sinclair.
There..a bit of perspective for you, before you get your knickers in a twist. He wont be missed….
And one final point…our chairman has been on. Holiday this week…so hardly a saga thats been dragging on! Ergo what planet are you living on….lol

Comment #39It’s no Secret the Qatari’s are looking for a club, and have been quoted £1.1Bn to buy Man Utd, and have been linked with Newcastle before.
Ashley will hold out for his £300m which doesnt look value against turnover etc..
They could always buy 5under1and for £75.00 and a bag of chips.
