Dave Whelan Now Ready To Sell N’Zogbia

It seems to have been a slow weekend as far as any interesting news on Newcastle is concerned.

Dave Whelan – ready to sell Charles N’Zogbia

But there is some news on Charles N’Zogbia today from his Chairman at Wigan, Dave Whelan, and Wigan seem ready to let Charles go, but whether Newcastle will now be in for him we have no idea, but we have our doubts.

This is what Dave told the Daily Mail:

“We have to sell Charles N’Zogbia because he’s on the last year of his contract,”

“We can’t keep him if a big club comes for him and he does deserve a big club because he’s that kind of quality player.”

There’s been lots of speculation about where the French International will end up, and Newcastle, Sunderland, Liverpool and lately Aston Villa have all been linked with the winger.

And only today there is news that Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is keen to take him to the Stadium of Light, and certainly Bruce is getting lots of new players into Sunderland over the last couple of weeks.

Charles has one year left on his contract and there’s always a chance he could elect to stay at Wigan and see out his contract and then set up a bumper deal next summer as a free agent.

That would not be good for Wigan of course, which is why we think Wigan will try to sell him this summer.

Whelan continued:

“We’ve got a lot of good players and it is understandable people are looking at them.”

“There’s been a lot of media speculation – that is part of being in the transfer window – but I am more focused on trying to reach the targets we set.”

“The players are under contract.’‘We would love to keep him and pay him what he wants to stay with us but it’s a very difficult situation.”

‘”He’s such a great player and we are such a small club sometimes we don’t go together,’

Newcastle sold N’Zogbia in January of 2009 for £6M plus Ryan Taylor, so say that’s £7M.

Why Newcastle are now balking at the reported £9M price tag is a little disconcerting, but we suppose it’s because that’s a high fee for a player who has just one year left on his contract.

But if Newcastle want to bring in some additional good players  this summer, there are times when a good player costs a decent fee, and you can only bring in so many free agents.

We think that’s the case with N’Zogbia, but the chances of Newcastle getting Charles back on Tyneside appear to be dimming, even though Charles is said to want a return back to the Magpies.

What do you think?

Comments always welcome.

this n’zogbia deal reminds of the ben arfa deal last summer…long and drawn out

  • The Arse want 14-15mill for Bendtner. Not worth it.

Insomnia just isn’t worth the aggro he would bring with him, first time he smudged his lippy, the toys would be out the pram!!

Would be much happier if we spent the money on a Striker; you know, one of those blokes who puts the ball in the back of the net. We used to have one, Shearer, I think he’s called, haven’t had another since!!

    WE NEED ONE!!!!

I think its about time Ashley put his money where his mouth was, dont get me wrong im very pleased in how quick the magpies have moved in this transfer window (usually we havent signed a player by now and worrying about if anyone will or will not be arriving) personally i think N’zogbia will be a fantastic addition to our squad, hes very skillful, pacey and will rip thru any defence. Us fans want to see the money spent, we want big (sensible) money signing and N’zogbia makes sense(9m isnt very much for a player of his quality), afterall he wants to come to us!! if we got him + another striker id be alot more excited than i currently am for the new season.

I wouldnt mind Bendtner like aslong as he’s under £10m.

I reckon if he got a good run in the first team, something he hasnt had at arsenal, at least not in his natural position, he could become a big goal threat.

Also, all the best strikers have a massive ego. Goes with the territory as far as I’m concerned like.

Stephen Ireland says he is ‘really determined’ to make an impact at Aston Villa this season after revealing he was sent to Newcastle United against his will. WHAT A FU*KING 2 FACE C**T

If I remember rightly, Bendtner’s shirt number is 57 because he earns £57k a week. He would want a pay rise to come to us and so that would rule out any bid for him!
    He is not worth that!

i think 16mil for Bendtner + N’zogbia would be a good bussiness. Also we need to sell routy, smith and perch.

Ashley won’t spend big bucks on any player.
he will buy cheap bargain basement players and put them in the shop window and sell them on at the end of the season . We will always be linked with big name/big money players just to sell season tickets but he will make sure none arrive at SJP.

@ nikopapavasilion im blue in the face saying this jonas is a RIGHT WINGER who has been plaing out of position to help the cause as joey has done playin wide instead of in the middle we havnt had wingers and pardew has already stated on a few occasions that ben arfa will play in the hole and fegie should be sent on a seasson long loan to champ to gain match time hes not ready just yet but he is almost there i think zoggy would be excellent addition but i dont think we are after him.
