Surprising news today that Cheick Tiote is the latest Newcastle United player to have a visa problem this summer.
Cheick Tiote – after scoring his only goal for Newcastle – so far
Cheick Tiote will not now be available for the friendly game at Leeds United on Sunday.
There is now real news on what the problem is although the Evening Chronicle is reporting it is red-tape problem about his visa, but that hardly tells us too much.
Tiote did not travel back to London with the rest of the squad but instead was on a plane to Accra in Ghana, where apparently the Ivory Coast Embassy is currently based.
Cheick’s job is to resolve whatever the problem is with his via, so again this seems just a little mystifying to us.
Tiote will be training while he is in Accra, until the problem with his visa is sorted out, so at least Tiote will keep himself at his current fitness level, and we’re not even sure if anybody from the club has accompanied him to Ghana, but we would think so.
Newcastle expect that Tiote will have everything sorted out by next weekend, and he will likely start the plum game against Italian club Fiorentina a week tomorrow.
That’s Newcastle’s final warm-up fame before meeting Arsenal at St. James’ Park on Saturday, 13th August, and we have to hope we’ll not be four goals down after 26 minutes in that game.
Comments welcome.

Comment #3Surely a “business” such as Newcastle United Football Club, that deals with employing players with different nationalities would hire someone to sort out visa issues. I’m getting fed up of stupid mistakes making our beloved football club look ridiculous!!

Comment #4None of this would have happened if Big Sam Allerdyce was manager. He would have hired 6 staff members to make sure visa’s were sorted even before stepping South of the Tyne!

Comment #9Absolute joke, both USA for the ridiculous over regulation, and clubs oversight and sheer lack of thought into the possible barriers they would get when seeking to train in the most paranoid country in the world

Comment #19Arsenal hope to seal a £34million double swoop for Valencia winger Juan Mata and Everton defender Phil Jagielka.
So if you think that Mata is available for £13m, then that means that Jagielka is £21m!?
NO WAY
I would say its nearer £20M for Mata and £14m for Jagielka

Comment #34Arsenal are well down the road with their blueprint, they have been following it for a long time now, whereas with us, it is in its infancy.
Arsenal went through similar to us, recruiting a few bargains to keep them ticking over, along with some shrewd investments in youth.
They are now seeing the fruits of that, they have players who they can sell on for £40m+ and they have a sizable amount of funds built up to enable them to go out and make purchases.
There are so many on here who want us to run before we can walk again!

Comment #39NuFC RichyG – you do talk some blather man..
Arsenal are doing everything they can to keep their top, salable players… We sold £35mil worth of player. Your entire argument seems to be based on things that haven’t happened justifying those that have… somewhere between naive and dreaming. i.e. reaching a rainbow’s end utopia where Ashley suddenly starts spending. He won’t and there is nothing in his actions to suggest he will…
Keith Harris’ comments were a telling insight- Ashley bought the club to make 52,000 friends… when those friends turned against him – he vowed to recoup his losses, in preparation for a buy out..
nothing he has done has been aimed at the interests of the supporters, quite the opposite… wake the funk up.

Comment #40Here I go, Ill show you how much arsenal spend on average per season shall i for the last 8 years or so!!
03/04 20m
04/05 6m
05/06 37m
06/07 14m
07/08 31 m
08/09 16m
09/10 15m
10/11 11m
Okay, so you can say that we are following the Arsenal blueprint, and even theought these figures prove otherwise, Id like to point out that Arseanl have always bought good quality decent players at a price lower than their value, because they know that payiong for qaulity gets them somewhere!! Never gamble, and never signinjury prone players ;-)….for nothing!!!!
