Sky Sports is reporting that Newcastle have gone back in for Sochaux striker Modibio Maiga.
Modibo Maiga – Sochaux have said Newcastle back in for striker
Newcastle were reported by Sochaux to FIFA only last week, for what they saw as an illegal approach for their Mali striker.
But the local Newcastle press have said that even though that happened, Newcastle were still interested in the 23 year-old 16 times capped Mali International.
It would seem that Mobido, who went on strike to try to make the Newcastle move happen, would be an excellent acquisition for the Tyneside club, if they can meet Sochaux’s asking fee, because once they do that, it could be a done deal.
Mobido ended his strike and made peace with Sochaux late last week, and even played for them on Sunday, in their 2-1 win at home to St. Etienne.
Newcastle will be hoping with the window closing tomorrow night, that they can strike a deal with Sochaux, and it would appear there are no hard feeling between the club over last week’s events.
It would be terrific if Newcastle can get Maiga to Tyneside.
Comments always welcome.

Comment #6@3 – Ranger, I think will be announced as having left the club by mutual consent next week when transfer storm has died down… Houghton will give him his 84th chance at getting it right though…

Smith – Leeds (Gradel to Souchaux)
Maiga – Toon
Santon – Toon
Danny Situ – Toon (has this gone through yet??)
That would be a great transfer window, although i cant help thinking smudger could be of some use now Baron’s gone……unless we get Muntari on loan (is that even a rumour of substance??)

Comment #22Agree on CB – I fully expect the club to make probably a loan signing to cover CB, or sign another fullback who can cover CB, someone better than simmo would be ideal but he’s still cutting his teeth and will only improve I feel.

Comment #25Every one still thinking the ACON is going to ruin us….really? Haha we arent Chelsea lads
We are going to play 1 up front and losing Ba and this lad if we get him and we still have Best Shola or Lovenkrands who can all do a job plus Gangsta boy might still be knocking people about I mean knocking about
Anyway no actual news this morning then? See Santon is meant to be in for a medical any further news on that?

Comment #31Sochaux’s pursuit of Gradel as a replacement for Mr Myagi, tells me they count him as a right winger and not the out and out striker we crave – I really haven’t seen the lad play (apart from the crazy legs crane/Ameobi goal on youtube). If we get him, let’s hope he steps up and proves he has the talent and the right attitude because his actions at Sochaux have been far from admirable.
Mr Myagi deal is reliant on……”Max on….Max off” (Sorry!)

Comment #38Don’t like this lads attitude. Striking to get transfers is disgusting. Modric doing it at Spuds – never thought Id have sympathy for Redknapp and Spuds….
Besides which, can’t see how he’s any better than Sammy or Shola.
