Liverpool Readying £10M Bid For Ryan Taylor

There’s a report out today in Caughtoffside that Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is now interested in another Newcastle player.

Ryan Taylor – mobbed after scoring brilliant goal at Sunderland

Liverpool interested in a Newcastle player is not new news of course, as they have already signed Andy Carroll and Jose Enrique for around £41M this year.

But the player Liverpool are said to be interested in is a surprise – it’s Ryan Taylor.

Ryan has been an ever present for Newcastle in the league this season at left-back,  and it seems he could remain there for some time, with Davide Santon likely to come in, but Taylor and Santon likely to be the full backs, and both can play on either side.

We’ve never thought full back is Ryan’s best position, and that position is probably on one of the wings, and that is where Liverpool presumably want to use the 27 yrar-old Liverpudlian.

Ryan arrived at Newcastle in January, 2009 from Wigan, for around £1M, and was included in a swap with Charles N’Zogbia and Newcastle received £6M from Wigan in the deal.

The former Tranmere Rovers player  has been in very good form this season, and he is very much a utility player who can play in a number of positions, and it could be that the adaptability is what interests Dalglish.

Now this is where the report seems to leave the world of reality,  because they say Liverpool would be willing to pay up to £10M for Ryan, and if that’s true then Newcastle would sell.

While Ryan is very adaptable Newcastle  could then bring in Erik Pieters from PSV, and have the full backs be Santon and Pieters.

Liverpool seem very willing to overpay for players, and if they are stupid enough, I mean if they are really  ready to pay £10M for Ryan Taylor, we don’t think Newcastle would turn that offer down.

For the record, Ryan has played 9 times for Newcastle this season with two good goals, and he has 63 appearances in total with 8 goals for the Magpies.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

He is a very average/poor player, who has an excellent set piece. most of the goals we have conceded this year have come from him being out paced or being in a terrible defenisve position (defoe’s goal).

Gurantee as soon as we lose a game everyones opinion him will change. at least we have a promising left back in santon to come in. just need someone to replace simpson as well.

I like Ryan Taylor. Good attitude and works hard for the team. And of course very dangerous on set pieces.
Having said all that, £10 million is not to be sneezed at and if it helps us buy Pieters plus going half way to buying a top striker it will be one great deal for the Toon.
Can’t believe Liverpool’s spending plans at the minute though. Would have thought laying out £35 million for the Big Lad had taught them a lesson.

Absolute tripe! Hard working player, and if Henderson is worth £20m then it might be a fair valuation haha.

On another note, I read somewhere that we have a 25% sell on clause for Carroll, so could we not bid £20m for him and get £5m back.. Canny profit

    £10 million
I’ll carry him on my back and place him on kennys couch
His role for us is surplus; he can’t compete with the wingers we have thus plays at a full back position but he can’t defend and we have other FK specialists such as cabaye
Pretty confident that we could scout a few better players than raylor for 10 mill

we are just being silly now……

Anyone else heard about the Defoe situation, he wanted to see ambition and improvement ! We have shown that lately- would not rule this one out if we are near the top 5/6 positions in Jan and Defoe is not getting weekly starts!

ive said it before and i’ll say it again, i think Kenny Dagliesh is one of the worst managers out there. He inherited a title winning team at liverpool (the 1st time), he bought it an Blackburn, and Newcastle with a decent team and medium resources that relied on tactics he was shit. And when he was at Newcastle he bought old liverpool players, and now at liverpool hes after newcastle players. He hasnt got a clue….he just goes back to where he last had a shit to find his keys…..so it goes. well sod off kenny weve locked up. Cant wait til they faulter.

Papers and blog columns are always hyping up transfer fees just to catch the attention.

If any truth in this whatsoever, it would include salary over a 5-year contract. That would be just over £5 million, leaving the other £5 million for potential bonuses and a transfer fee.
    And even that is OTT.

We need to keep Ryan at all costs. He’s too versatile to lose and not to mention a terrific professional. He can play wide right , right fullback and do us a job at left back and centre midfield if we lose him some of our depth at many positions is lost. KEEP THE LAD. Work with me Ashley.

If pool really offer 10million for Rtaylor then we shld just give a % discount on the frees with some free supply of shirts to their fans.

Thats should be a better package overall.
