If Cheick Tiote Not Fit – Alan Smith Could Come In Against Swansea

Alan Pardew has said today that Newcastle should have one or two players back for Saturday when Swansea visit St. James’ Park.

Alan Smith – could come in on Saturday is Tiote not fit

The two most likely to return are captain and center-back Fabricio  Coloccini and defensive midfielder Cheick Tiote, who is less certain to return.

With Dan Gosling managing to get himself sent off and be banned for the next three games and with Danny Guthrie also out, it would be a great time for Cheick o return to the first team – if he is fit enough.

We saw yesterday that Mehdi Ameid may be as candidate for a central midfield position, but Alan Smith could also be drafted in to play in that position, and of course he has vast experience.

This is what Alan told the local press today:

“We are hopeful we have one or two back.” “Willo trained and played in the reserves.” “He offers us height and experience.”

“He was great for us last season.” “If we can get over the 30 point mark before Christmas Day that would be great.”

It will be a bit of a surprise if Williamson makes the starting eleven – but he proved in his debut against Crystal Palace almost two years ago, that he can play a masterful game, even when he hasn’t had much match practice.

We would hope that all three – Coloccini, Tiote and Williamson – will all make it for Saturday’s game against Swansea, and a win on Saturday is very important for the Newcastle side.

Comeliness welcome.

    NOOOOO. Another SHIT player

I rather play Abeid (young, better and hungry for first team action) than playing Smith

    said this a million time
    -Smith cannot Run
    -Smith cannot tackle
-Smith available the first two mins then ANONYMOUS the remaining 88 mins
-Spend more time on his HAIR than on the football

I will rather play perch in that defensive mid field role and play KADAR in center back along side colo rather than smith in cdm

Abeid and Vuckic are the future, Smith is most obviously not. Give them the chance to prove themselves

Mehdi Abeid will play if Tiote doesnt, hes apparently looked immense this week in training plus Pardew said the other week that he was the most likely player to play when Tiote goes to ACON

Old Smithys getting a run out so that should be an easy 3 points for the Taffs he’ll be sent off after 20 minutes for fouling as he can’t tackle has no pace and costs 65k a week what wind up!

Ed – I would moniter these postings more carefully if I was you, or else you could be in legal trouble. I refer to a previous posting from the pig ignorant, uneducated, gutter twerp, DJM.

Abeid, Raylor, Vuckic and Perch in that order are better bets for the central DM role than Smith.
The guy’s legs have gone so his tackling is too late and he gets frustrated – and we all know what that means.
If Pardew plays him he is not as bright as I thought he was and is in danger of putting this club on the slide (if they haven’t already started it).
And if there is still a problem with centre half how about trying Remi Streete (at least for 60 minutes or so)? If the reports about his ability and composure are true he could well fill the gap for a very short while. At least he’ll be playing in his proper position.
Other clubs seem willing to give their young talent a try when things get tricky – why can’t we?

Echoing everything everyone else has said so far:

Smith should not play under ANY circumstances. I watched him against Gateshead in our friendly last summer and he ‘played’ like he’d been hit with a tranquillizer dart.

A ‘great pro’ or not he’s way way short of the standard needed in the Prem.

Our makeshift defence would have no cover whatsoever from him these days and he’d be a red card waiting to happen.

Abied for me please. GIve the kid a chance.

That headline aint funny at all Ed. If Pardew is so big on stats, one look at the results when either of smith or Perch play should tell him all he needs to know. ABEID is the man.
We have to move on from 3rd raters like Smith and Perch who shouldn’t be here in the first place. We all know what they can’t do. They’re just passengers and yellow and red card liabilities, nothing more. I’m sure most people on this blog are as good, if not better and don’t get 60k a week for it.

Amen to that and I think we can safely assume Pardew is not the brightest. just look at the Norwich teams sheet for that.

It good to let young player get their experience for this kind of games further more at home.

We are not up agasint top 6 also..20mins run of game shld be good.

Smith lost its direction when he goes ManUtd.

Perch as always was a nice utility player just like Rtylor.
    – They dont create much problem off the field but they also dont add too much spice on the field.

my 1st thoughts were “NOOOO!”. Our record (prem) with him starting in far from good; unless call defeat as good. which we don’t.

Now that certainly looks exciting and Swansea at home is the perfect game to introduce them but i can’t see it happening and wouldn’t be suprised if Pardrew played Smith and Perch along side Cabaye!!

Hope this is only your own thought ED.
For some reason you always find a way to get “yellow cards” name mentioned.
Dont you realise nobody is remotely interested in him wearing a black and white first team shirt again.
