Great news today that Newcastle captain Fab Coloccini and top midfielder Cheick Tiote both start for Newcastle this afternoon against Swansea at home.
And the other good news is that David Santon get a start at right back as we had hoped for, following his good performance at Norwich last Week.
As expected James Perch will line up alongside Coloccini but that should be a lot easier this week, with James having an immensely experienced player alongside him.
And another surprise is that Leon Best takes over from Shola Ameobi up front, so Leon must have been looking good in training this week.
Mike Williamson is also on the bench as expected and all being well he could get 15 minutes at the end of the game for James Perch, depending on how the game is going.
There is no Ryan Taylor, so we don’t know why that’s the case – but maybe Alan Pardew is giving the Liverpudlian a rest.
And it’s interesting that both Mehdi Abeid and Haris Vuckic make the bench, and of course the 19 year-olds are two of Newcastle’s top youngsters.
This is an improved defense than last week’s side at Norwich, and we will be looking for Newcastle to get back to their winning ways.
Howay The Lads!!

Comment #4HOWAY, this is some fantastic news indeed.
I was looking forward to take one back in this match, now i have even more to look forward to.
Cmon lads, lets start the match with a bang, Swans will never know what hit them.
Hang on, they’re new to the PL, so they’re still ugly ducklings. 😉

Good comment mate. No he’s not the best, would we rather he just refused to play? He tries hard, trains hard, and really wants to play for the club – that’s the attitude every fan of every club craves from all their players.

Comment #7Agree with 98% of the line up. Very attack minded but, Obertan imo mind, is not good enough atm. He is very fast but has no end product at all. He could push Jonas out to the right and put HBA on the left wing which is his strongest position i think. Still a good line up none the less.

HBA is nowhere near being the player we all think he can be, also we play better as a 4-4-2

Hope to see either Abeid or Vuckic today.
I think Abeid may come in for Tiote, at 60-70 minutes, Tiote’s been out a long time, may get easily tired.

I think he has been quite poor because of the position we play him in. He is best out on the left. He plays his better Football there.

Comment #15QPR at home to Manchester United, Stoke away at Wolves, Everton at home to Norwich…
Good chance for us to pull away from 8th, 9th, 10th etc. A couple of weeks ago there was 9 points betwen us and 8th.

It’s odd that Shola does appear to be a decent impact sub. Having competition for a starting place really motivates the guy.

Agree mate, I’d play HBA on the left with Jonas replacing Obertan on the right as Jonas his not needed as much to cover Santon as he would be if Raylor was playing

There were rumors that Raylor was injured a few days ago, but that’s all they were.
So glad Tiote is back… Guthrie & Gosling both out for a few weeks isn’t great.

Just ignore the guy. You will genuinely struggle to find a single post of his that isn’t insult Perch. He used to do it with Shola, then he disappeared for ages when Shola wasn’t playing.
The guy has zero constructive contributions to make to the blog
