Great News – Coloccini, Tiote And Santon Start For Newcastle

Great news today that Newcastle captain Fab Coloccini and top midfielder Cheick Tiote both start for Newcastle this afternoon against Swansea at home.

And the other good news is that David Santon get a start at right back as we had hoped for, following his good performance at Norwich last Week.

As expected James Perch will line up alongside Coloccini but that should be a lot easier this week, with James having an immensely experienced player alongside him.

And another surprise is that Leon Best takes over from Shola Ameobi up front, so Leon must have been looking  good in training this week.

Mike Williamson is also on the bench as expected and all being well he could get 15 minutes at the end of the game for James Perch, depending on how the game is going.

There is no Ryan Taylor, so we don’t know why that’s the case – but maybe Alan Pardew is giving the Liverpudlian a rest.

And it’s interesting that both Mehdi Abeid and Haris Vuckic make the bench, and of course the 19 year-olds are two of Newcastle’s top youngsters.

This is an improved  defense than last week’s side at Norwich, and we will be looking for Newcastle to get back to their winning ways.

Howay The Lads!!

Playing alongside Colo helps his confidence

I like Jonas as well but he has created a fraction of the chances Obertan has been involved in. I understand fans getting frustrated at Gabby for not having more end product but it takes certain ability to be in promising positions as often as he is. We fans need to be more discerning and value our players more is what im saying. We’ve been excellent so far today. We really need a goal though and fast

Obertan has had some great runs today.
Could deliver the ball earlier though.
Looks like AP has been workin with him on that

@AP: Best took a whack to the head mate. He’ll be alright once he’s had a bit of a sit down.

Best game in the archives 😀

Must be nice for Krul to have an easy game after some of the previous games where he’s had balls hammered at him left right and central!

Need Ben Arfa on for Best. The game needs someone like him to run at their defenders from deep and his creativity. Playing 442 with a target man like Best is too easy for Swansea…too predictable.

@roshan MAGPIE its down to the IQ of football fans. If Obertan was having a quiet game and not getting into dangerous positions in the first place noone would have anything bad to say about him. In the halftime highlight reel just shown, just about every noteworthy move shown on the replay involved gabby

Agreed Shot Bru. This is his kind of game but it’ll probably be Shola for Best.

That’s exactly why players dive. If Fellaini had rolled around on the floor, Holt would have been walking.

Bryan Ruiz scored a good goal today, wonder if he will start to come good. Hope we carry on this form into the second half!

The beauty of having Tiote back is the sheer amount of possession he affords us. Keeping possession so well makes it impossible for the opposing side to expose any holes (aka Perch) in our back four ..Being a good Defensive midfielder is more to do with good ball handling than ball winning. Which is why Smith is so Shi*te and Guthrie is also really good in that role

Right lads, in summary I think we’re all in agreement, the Team is playing well today, in all areas [apart from Krul through lack of Swansea’s chances] – all we need are three goals in second half.

Perch has done ok today although he hasn’t been tested due to our posession domination.

His distribution is ‘hoofball’ Pardew needs to instruct Perch to let Colo or Cabaye deal with the distribution from deep areas.
