21 Year-Old Newcastle Striker Target Keen To Play In England

Dutch striker Luuk de Jong is a 21 year-old Dutch International striker who was born in Switzerland.

Luuk de Jong – 21 year-old old Dutch International striker

Newcastle have been watching this lad for a while now,  and we think he would be an excellent acquisition for Newcastle,  but it could  cost up to £10M for the 6 times capped FC Twente player.

Newcastle have been linked with many many strikers since they have been saying since last January they would replace  the departed Andy Carroll.

But still nobody of significant value has been signed with the £35M we got for big Andy.

But the news today could be upbeat for Newcastle supporters,  since the Dutch press are reporting he’s keen to play in the Premier League.

And maybe that could be with Newcastle, who are one of the clubs linked with him.

This is what he said today:

“Of course in the future I’d love to play in the EPL.”  ” I’ve read about all the interest but personally I haven’t heard so much till now.”

“The Premier League is a really good competition and I think that the type of football played there is suited for me. They play a lot with long balls and crosses, while some teams play really good football.”

“Defensively a lot of teams play in zones so there is always a lot of space between the lines.”  “The speculation is a sign I’m doing my job well otherwise if it’s true then these clubs wouldn’t be following me.”

“Believe me all this doesn’t affect me or keep me occupied, for me it’s only important that I’m fully focused and playing well for FC Twente again after a period when I wasn’t as good.”

Of all the strikers Newcastle have been linked with this year (about 39),  he could be near the top of our list,  since he’s the right age, and can get even better in the Premier League.

And certainly he’s been in great form for his Dutch club FC Twente,  and in 24 appearances he has scored 14 goals in the current season.

Since joining FC Twente from De Graafschap in 2009, he has played 84 times for Twente (67 starts), and he’s scored 40 goals – not too bad at all.

The 6’2″ striker is an excellent prospect,  but we’re not sure Newcastle will bring any striker in next month, since most strikers will not be available until the summer.

We’ll have to wait and see, and we suppose Mike Ashley can still shock us all on the positive side – by bringing in a player of de Jong’s class and caliber  next month.

We’ll just have to wait and see.

Comments welcome.

I cant believe what I just read… Ben arfa being a luxury player, and he doesnt justify his spot…

    Lets check out his competiton

Best, hasnt scored since the start of the season (dont even think a single assist since then either)
Ba, well of course Ba will be picked over him lol
Shola, got a good goal against spurs but for the rest nothing
Lovenkrands, no goals and no assists
    Ben arfa, 0 goals 3assists

Then someone said yeah but the 3 he assisted in we didnt win, o yeah because best wud of torn man utd and tottenham apart -_-

The point is even though he doesnt do much without the ball he dors the best on the ball then any other player (that accompanys Ba)
Wich means he DOES justify his spot. I think the only reason best is getting picked first is to warm up for jan, but when ever we start looking less creative all our fans start chanting ben arfa

Also ginola never did much off the ball, so ur tellin me if ginola was young now u wudn’t put him on the LW and jonas on the RW
Because he has skills but just isnt good off the ball?

A good player from what little I have seen of him – better than Shola; well, that’s not too difficult really. Better than Loverboy; most certainly. Better than Best; yes, I would say so.

He would certainly provide a lot more competition up front than we have at the moment and that can only be a good thing for NUFC.

    Over to Mr Ashley.

GT89 i dont know cabaye and vuckic wud be happy to sit do far back, but may be we can play 4-3-1-2 for away games and 4-1-3-2 for home games( just put cabaye an vuckic by ben arfa)

t00ntime – Spot on with that mate but a just set it up like tht because Cabaye and Vuckic wouldnt be forward all the time but they would be bombing forward while Tiote sits so a just had them 3 together so Cabaye goes Tiote Hold and Vuckic sits and vice versa sort of thing..
And Also for me Ben Arfa should be starting no matter what he’s the type of player to unlock defences and just get a win from nothing he also should play on the wing now and again seens as though thats where he made his name kind of makes sense

If Ashley has any ambition at all for the club he should sign a top quality striker to bolster the squad, especially when we lose Ba in January.
I also think he should sign a CH after seeing the goals we have leaked since Saylor was injured.
We have the money its just a question as to whether the controller will release it.

t00ntime : 100% agreed with u mate. I been a HBA fan since his marseille and lyon day.

On his day, he is a world class player.

    Gave him time (and games).

That injury will took a while before we see the real HBA

Average player. Relies heavily on quality crosses, something we are very limited at. Giroud should be the main ST target, he’s twice the player.

But still nobody of significant value has been signed with the £35M we got for big Andy…?

    What about Demba Ba?
He was a hell of bargain, was he not?
The best incoming player in all of my years as a Toon supporter.. (18 years)

His value is far beyond what he cost the club!
Should he be sold, i´d say he should cost 15-20 mil!
We are so lucky to have gotten a striker with so much to give.. And for a low cost..
Should i choose between Demba Ba and Carroll.. No doubt in my mind would i choose Demba Ba!

There you have it.. We have by far brought in a replacement for Carroll.. Even a better one!

Though we could do with one more striker.. Best is our second best striker, and he should only be 3rd or 4th choice… At least if we are to stay in top 3rd of the league. One striker scoring goals is not enough..
Without Demba Ba.. Who do we have to score?
The last 5 goals we have scored, all came from Mr.Ba

Give Demba Ba the number 9 shirt!
He is not only getting goals.. his touch on the ball is world class, his strength to hold off defenders is pure class, he has alot of pace… H.. I could go on and on and on.. You have all seen him many times.. I think you all agree..

Is that true? I don’t wath any dutch football to be honest. But if so, then I’m sure our scouting team will know that as well.

We don’t have a single player in the team that can cross a ball from out wide.

Cabaye’s decent but he never strays wide – obviously.

Seems Pardew see’s something in Obertan that we do not. He refuses to drop him no matter what. Best and Obertan where terrible in the last games closely followed by Tiote. Lets hope for a better performance today for the sake of our sanity lol.

Why is Pardew persisting with Obertan? Has he 1 assist all season, no goals? And we are half way through the season :/ Ben Arfa should be playing instead of him or Best.

He does the basics efficiently, but you know how Ba turns a crap cross into a good one, using his strength and agility, well I haven’t seen De Jong do that.

I’d put him on a par with Best, although this kid is only 21. Still don’t see that sparkle – comparing him to his compatriots – more a Dirk Kuyt than a Van Persie.

I’m always a tad disappointed when I don’t see HBAs name appear on the teamsheet. Was to be expected I suppose, AP being a conservative percentages manager, and beiing away at Bolton.

I’m puzzled as to why as well. Obertan doesn’t even have 1 shot on target this season, and he’s tried ample times. He’s an athlete, not a footballer.

it’s weird isn’t it. HBA had that one bad half v chelsea and gets instantly dropped even though you could see he was almost telepathic with BA for that goal on Wednesday. Yet Best who hasn’t had a decent game in months and not scored since Sptember plays week in week out as does Obertan and Guti.

We’re not getting more January, it’s just not happening. I can see Giroud, and maybe Pieters (who’s HURT), but talk of Cissokho or Vertonghen is just daft. Ashley won’t open his pockets for the money or that many players no matter how good they may be. We do need a good LB though. Simpson will be gone come summer I think and Santon will move to RB so a new LB is needed. Raylor is an amazing squad player who can do a job anywhere but we need a recognized LB

Luuk de Jong would be a good signing!

But so would Wifried Bony! from Arnhem Vitesse or Matevs from PSV also!
Would be happy with any of these but the list of players we are linked with on here every day is endless!

Disappointed, that there are still people on here who are slagging off Obertan! But then hey, par for the course eh! Don,t really surprise me!

HBA should be in the starting line-up on friday at Anfield, and no 5th yellow for Collo so he will start too!
Bolton were crap today, but considering our recent games, we were due the win and fully deserved it too.

If we can get something at Anfield, it will be pleasing especially as Carroll and Enrique will be playing against us for the first time since they moved!
