Pardew – Newcastle Awesome – Perch, Williamson Magnificent

A delighted Newcastle manager, Alan Pardew, thought his side were awesome at times today against Liverpool.

Alan Pardew on the sidelines today

Newcastle won 2-0 and again showed significant attacking flair with Ben Arfa  prominent,  and Papiss Cisse in the goals again with two opportunist efforts.

And Cisse now has 7 goals in just 7 appearances for the Magpies – one more goal than Andy Carroll has in 38 appearances for the Reds.

Was Papiss a good buy in January or was Papiss a good buy in January?

Newcastle are now 11 points clear of Liverpool with 9 games to play on 53 points, and Newcastle are a side in form.

Danny Guthrie did go off  injured in the second half and Dan Gosling got a run-out, and we’re not sure how seriously Danny was injured.

Pardew was full of praise for his players after the game,  and that’s hardly surprising as Liverpool looked very good in the first half, but Newcastle controlled the game in the second half.

This is what Alan told Sky Sports after the game today:

“They were awesome today. We were very much in control of the game, I thought,” “Liverpool had a lot of flair on the pitch and we dealt with it well.”

“The two center-halves for us were magnificent and we got goals. We have said all along that the front four or five of ours will get goals and we just have to make sure we are disciplined and defend.”

“It was an outstanding performance from us.” “I have seen it three times now, I think it hits him high on the shoulder. I think I would be surprised if a referee gives that,”

“It wasn’t like his hand was sticking out or anything like that, I thought it was OK.”  “He wasn’t involved in the play and you could see it was a one-two through the middle but it broke to Cisse.”

“By that time the Liverpool player was level and therefore he was onside.”  “That’s a rule all us managers are not keen on but it’s the rule and it was always going to count.”

“It just consolidates our position, we’ve been 10 points ahead of the group all season below us and we have stretched that with Liverpool today and so now we’ve just got to make sure we see it home and take this club into Europe,”

“I think our fans deserve it, they have been absolutely outstanding following us all season and it would be a bit of a disappointment if we don’t get there now.”

“I thought Reina was frustrated and he has done something you can’t do as a professional footballer and put his head in our players’ face. He is going to get sent off.”

Newcastle rode their luck in the first half – no doubt about it – and Danny Simpson seemed to handle the ball on the line in the first half, and it could have been a penalty and Danny could have been sent off.

But nothing was given, and that’s when we thought this could be Newcastle’s day.

It certainly wasn’t Liverpool’s day,  as Pepe Reina got himself sent off after 82 minutes,  when he head butted our Man of the Match James Pardew, who was magnificent in the Newcastle shirt today.

You talk about a grafter who gives everything he’s got for Newcastle!

And when Andy Carroll was taken off after about 75 minutes,  he showed his frustration as the Newcastle crowd definitely got to him today, and that’s what happens when you leave your local club for more  money.

It was a magnificent victory for Newcastle today,  and a very strong performance from our lads.

We’re proud of them all.

    Ah well. 3-1 to Spurs

Don’t know where Vorm has got his rep from. Timmy would have been out to catch that cross easily.

We are all proud as punch today ,happy as larry, over the moon jim. awee bit worrying pardew thinking jonas is a better left back than both fergie and santon, jonas is not a left back in a million years, would still like him to have a bit more faith in fergie especially, and vucic as well, gosling again came on and was no where to be seen, i get a feeling gosling has goals in him but he needs to try and seize these chances he is getting as small as they are but at the moment its not happening for him.

I have been a fan of this club now for 60 years.Rarely have I felt a bigger pride in this club than I have today. I wish my Dad had been alive to see this. We all thought without Saylor ad Colo we would struggle but ,yes, Willo and Perch did rise to the plate, but it is becoming obvious that Ba , Cisse, and Ben Arfa up front is working. Also the three man midfield of Guthrie , Cabaye and Tiote saw off this very mediocre Liverpool side. Booing our ex-players was really unnecessary as they showed themselves lacking, particularly Carroll and that ridiculous dive of his. All the very best congratulations to Mike, Derek and Alan, as they have all proved us wrong. Just keep it going for the next seven games and DON’T sell anybody, whatever the offer.

    Ha Ha Ed,
I think that was a deliberate mistake, hats off to all the lads today I’m absolutley brimming with Geordie pride this evening, felt a bit sorry for AC as he walked down the tunnel, but would have loved a stray shot go through Clown Enriques legs.

    Chant of the day:

“We’re in the top 6, Jose Enrique, we’re in the top 6.” 😀

Think I despise him as much as our relegation mercenaries.

Saw on an earlier post when I checked at half time, that somebody wasn’t happy with the 4-3-3,and that this wasn’t working blah blah blah, the same person would have been moaning at a 4-4-2,Pards hasn’t always got it right this seaon but I think he has got it right a lot more times than wrong.

King Kenny is a tossbag. Blamed the match on the Danny Simpson incident. Danny’s arm didn’t move, and it hit him on the very top of his arm. On another day it could have been a penalty, yes. But it just levels out the Carma, for Caroll being a cheating Judas trying to go down in the box for a penalty. They got exactly what they deserved today Liverpool, just unfortunate not to get a couple shots past Enrique in the last ten minutes. Great performance all round and deserved win.

And I very much agree. We’ve had Demba ba on ramadan, Tiote Demba Ba and Cisse away on African Cup of Nations, Leon Best injured, Lovenkrands injured, Steven Taylor injured, Ryan Taylor injured, Coloccini injured, Hatem Ben Arfa injured, and no doubt I’ve missed some. Despite that we’ve done the unthinkable, and got ourselves into a position where if we’d have went to the bookies at the start of the season, we’d have probably got as good odds on going down as finishing in the top six. Beat Man Utd at home, beat Liverpool at home, a draw against Spurs, a draw against Arsenal, drew with Man Utd at Old Trafford, beat Sunderland at their ground, amongst other top performances. Almost everything has been managed well, from the sale of Caroll, to the involvement of James Perch in different positions, Jonas Gutierrez playing part at left back, every player has done their bit to shake it up and help the team. With a little squad expansion in the summer, to strengthen the defence and cover strikers, it should be another good season under Alan Pardew. And short of another manager for Liverpool, who’s really going to be tempted to go there? May aswell travel a bit further north to a club with ambition, sorry Enrique!

Guys… I think Carrol is part of an Ashley masterplan! He tricked Liverpool to give us £35mill, and also taps them for whatever Carrol is earning every week. And by never scoring he make sure they stay behind us in the league so we get european football and even more money! Is genious!

martoon – and how good is Cisses?

He still hasn’t got 100% used to the pace of the Prem.

Amd he’s got 7 goals in 7 games.

    How scary/eciting is that?!
