Newcastle manager Alan Pardew was a delighted man after the 3-0 demolition of Stoke City this afternoon.
Yohan Cabaye scores Newcastle’s first goal today
Newcastle were 2-0 up after 18 minutes, with Yohan Cabye getting the first goal, after a Papiss Cisse header had hit the cross-bar, following magical work down the left wing by Ben Arfa.
And then a superb Yohan Cabaye through ball after 18 minutes, had Papiss Cisse beat the Stoke defense with his speed and his deadly accuracy, as he slotted the ball home for his 11th goal of the season for Newcastle.
A second half goal from Cabaye – his 5th of the season for Newcastle – was enough to give the Magpies an emphatic victory this afternoon and Newcastle looked a very good side today.
Alan Pardew was a delighted man after the game:
“We showed real quality today. Cabaye, Hatem, Cisse, Demba were a problem for Stoke all afternoon.”
“Once the first goal went in, we was in total control of the game.” “Yohan Cabaye’s pass was exquisite, one of the passes of the season for me.”
“He’s fine, it was good to protect players after going 3 up.” “Williamson was outstanding in looking after an England International in Peter Crouch.”
“Hatem’s workrate was phenomenal.” “Six wins on the trot is a fantastic effort. We’ve just got to try and win every game and see where it takes us.”
Yes it’s six league wins on the trot now for Newcastle, for the first time in about 18 years, by our reckoning.
And Newcastle are now currently in 4th place in the league table, 4 points ahead of Chelsea and 3 points ahead of Tottenham – who are currently playing QPR and are one goal down at half time.
Newcastle have put themselves into a great position to challenge for a Champions League place for next season.
Howay The Lads!!

Comment #2Everything about our setup, management, scouting and team are just clicking together. The only thing that annoys me is how Pardew says ‘we was’.
It’s we were !!
But, i think i can forgive him for that 🙂

Comment #7Loving this… my Liverpool friends are now congratulating Newcastle after bagging us out all year.
And loving this fact: Downing cost more than Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Tiote, Ba, Santon and Krul combined.

Comment #8It’s about time all the fans gave credit to Ashley – I noticed pards mentioned him in the interview.
Ashley made some crazy mistake, got us relegated, but he has really learned how to run a football club on a tight budget. He put up with incredible stick from the fans, but he stuck it out in the end and deserves credit for saving us financially and turning us into a force to be reckoned with in the PL.
How many fans would want to see Ashley sell up now I wonder!
Fans, Player, Pardew, Staff, Board and Ashley. Thank you. Forgiving me one of the most memorable seasons in a long long time.

Comment #9Which pass of Cabaye’s was better, this one or, the one for Ba against Villa (I think)? Two of the passes of the season!
We’ve almost got enough gems in the squad to make a crown, now 😉

Comment #12Tiote and Guti absolutely owned the midfield today and provided steel which allowed Cabaye to roam forward. Such a lovely balance to the team.

Comment #13I hope QPR stay cool, two players booked in first half we dont want to see any red cards.
If Spuds dont get a result here, the Southern press will be in tears……What the hell will they print ? Wont be Newcastle, more likely back page article on the long running Olympic stadium debate !

Comment #17think that was our strongest 11 out there today, could only really be improved upon with a new rb and cb (taylor or new guy)
BUT i honestly hate saying that cos willo n simmo have shown better attitudes towards OUR club than most ‘quality’ players who have came in over the past decade who have only been here for the pay packet. They deserve respect, which has been lacking towards them by most on this blog.
therefore anyone calling for major investment should F**K OFF, we need to keep this bunch together, not upset anyone, and carry on making shrewd signings like we have been doing.
would love to see johnson as back up to BA/Benny but if hes gna act a spoilt pr*ck like he has at city then no thankyou…

Comment #20Come on QPR, finish the job. This is just getting better every week: fantastic win, perfect 0-0 between Arsenal and Chelsea, and Spurs one goal down and playing poorly. Could it be better at the moment?

Comment #25Stoke manager Tony Pulis: “We had a lot of chances today. Jon Walters, who I think the world of, could have come out of the game scoring a hat-trick.
“But the difference in both boxes was they hit the target and we never. From being very much in the game we were 2-0 behind after two very poor goals.
“At the start of the second half we thought if we could get that goal it would have been game on. But the third goal was very poor again and that gave them the momentum to go on.
“You’ve got to give our players credit – they kept going and kept going. I don’t think it was that bad a performance.”
Was Pulis watching the same game? Our 2nd and 3rd goals were just class, and Stoke City didn’t come close at all. Shocking interview by the man.

Comment #39In my honest opinion going to spurs would be a step down for Pardew! We as a club, have a lot more going for us. are finances are great, and our first 11 man for man shades i reckon, only players i would have from spurs to come into our line up would be bale and walker, after that man for man we are way better! Add to that a great team spirit, and your have yourself a top top premier league side, which we are!
