Good news to follow on from yesterday’s great 3-0 win against Stoke City is being reported in the local Sunday Sun today.
Demba Ba – after scoring at Stoke last year
There has been news that French club PSG, Demba Ba’s home town club, would be going after Newcastle top striker in the summer, but news today that the contract negotiations he is having with Newcastle are going well.
The Sunday Sun is reporting that Newcastle are closer than ever to extending the 26 year-old’s stay on Tyneside with a new contract.
A Newcastle source has told the local paper that while there is always the chance that Ba could leave, the striker has told manager Alan Pardew that his immediate future lies on Tyneside.
That’s also consistent with what Demba Ba has told the press recently, when he was quoted as saying:
“It’s always a dream for me to play one day at PSG, but I’m really happy where I am in Newcastle”
Demba Ba signed a three year contract in the summer, when there were still some doubts about his knee, which was the reason he had failed his medical at Stoke a year last Janaary.
But the knee doesn’t seem to have been a problem at all, and he has scored 16 Premier League goals this season, and was voted the best signing of last summer’s transfer window – he was a free agent from West Ham.
His goal-scoring has stopped recently, since Newcastle went to their new 4-3-3 formation, but he is still playing very well for the team, and yesterday was good evidence of how he links up so well with the three players up front.
Demba Ba is a very good footballer and he very rarely gives the ball away, and it’s now up to manager Alan Pardew to work out how to have both Ba and his Senegal strike partner, Papiss Cisse, both scoring goals on a regular basis for Newcastle.
While we’re sure he’d be happier scoring more goals right now, it was good to see how Ba was simply delighted every time Newcastle scored yesterday, and it backs up what Alan said before the game – that Demba Ba can give a lot more to the team than just scoring goals.
And the 6’2″ striker also played the whole game yesterday, and was unlucky on a couple of occasions not to score.
It would be a terrific piece of news for Newcastle fans if we hear that Demba Ba has signed a new deal to stay with Newcastle.

Comment #3we’re probably lucky in a way his form has dipped .. if not all the top teams would have came in for him .. PSG/Man U/Spurs .. if we keep the champions league position its a given .. excellent player, if it wasn’t for his early form we wouldn’t be were we are .. and his mate Cisse mightn’t have came .
Just loving our attack… Cisse/Ba/Cabaye/Arfa .. roll on the champions league .. also imagine Marveaux in there too ..thats newcastle lightning attack ..

He’s a great professional, smiling and joking with the lino instead of getting in his face is a great thing to see.

Comment #8sweendog – I think AP has already said he has the players lined up for next season but if we make CL it will enable him to get a couple more top quality players in, happy days! I hope he tells old red face at manure to fook off if he tries to offload any more crap to us though 🙂

Comment #9Very good news if true but, it’s a Sunday tabloid! No quote and another unknown source. If it were a story saying a source has revealed Ba is more than likely leaving we’d all disregard it. Having said, I would love it to happen. I’d love him to stay more than I would us qualifying for champions league!

Comment #19seatoon – level for me, not biased like haha. Ive got a feeling some defenders may try to rattle him in the last few games to see how he reacts. He will probably get up and shake the lads hand 🙂

Comment #20not a question on Ba’s ability and workrate .. if we keep him we will improve the team .. lose him and we need to find someone as good ..probably cost 15mill for someone that good ..
hope he stays ..
As for Obertan .. he is a confidence player .. without confidence he is terrible .. with it he is really good .. hope he gets his mojo back .. a good run in the team would do that but unfortunately with much better in at the the minute .. at the moment you couldn’t replace anyone of our attackers

love the last line:
“But you get the sense Newcastle aren’t finished just yet”
Good way to end an article… fully noticed a massive upturn in nufc coverage. bout time these lackeys finally stood up and took notice.
The game was a masterclass and it definitely gave me the sense that there is more to come…. i’m looking forward to every match. up the premier league we go…

Comment #25Hotdog, t will come again. If he was playing where Cisse is, he would have scored a few times and not had a dry spell. His workrate, holding up, heading and passing are all very good. he must ne a nightmare to mark as he turns well too. Does anyone else love how Tiote turns on a sixpense? Scott Parker isnt fit to lace his boots, and he was always turning in circles!!

Comment #27sweendog – too right mate. and pardew has been eating up the media – he can’t stop saying the right things. He’s playing it all like a fiddle!
The whole weekend panned out to be a Geordie wonderland – almost scripted it was so perfect… good to watch the big spending teams crumble.
And yeh great to have an enforcer like Tiote, happy to have a crack at goal, can’t believe the keeper kept them both out. He sorta reminds me a bit of Edgar Davids.
I can’t remember being this excited about the toon before – even with Robson and Keegan, we had good teams, great teams – but i get the feeling that nufc are pushing to build a lasting team. Pardew is a great admirer and friend of Sir Alex and i can’t help but think he’s taking a page straight out of the Ferguson handbook… and thats mouthwatering. I would love to see the toon pushing for titles, cups and european glory for the next few decades…
Let the good times roll i say

Comment #29Demba ‘s workrate is superb as is the whole team at present.
The club, and potential suiters would be worried by his medical issue that are factual and recorded so huge fees and wages are not going to be offered.
If I was Ashley I would offer him a rolling 1 year contract on the same sort of money at Tiote, that rewards him and keeps one eye on his knees.

Comment #30off topic a bit but I regularly use newsnow for toon news that spand the media, and could’nt help noticing our old friends the daily mail posting two topics – one saying that Danny Simpson will be leaving and another stating that Tim Krul would not make the Stoke game, For god’s sake when will this cockney rag give up? Now we have no Barton, Carroll and we are winning they still can’t leave it alone. Presumably they are miffed that we are now ahead of Chelsea and Spurs and threatening Arsenal!

Comment #31I think we also need a very good goal keeper as a back up in case krul gets injured. Elliot still hasnt had a PL game yet

Comment #32There are reports on here about Jerson Cabral from Feyenoord !
This kid is mouthwateringly good ! And is well worth buying !
But then as soon as the story appeared on here it was also reported that at least two other clubs are also interested !
Par for the course! But if its true? One of my colleagues will be really pissed off ! As he is a lifelong Feyenoord Fan!
