Twelve Players To Leave Newcastle At The End Of June

Newcastle United have at last announced their retained list for next season.

Peter Lovekrands – becomes a free agent

And the news is that 11 players are leaving the club when their contracts end at the end of this month.

As expected Alan Smith and Peter Lovenkrands have been released, and an agreement was not reached on a  new contract with Danny Guthrie, who wants first team football elsewhere.

Danny joined Newcastle from Liverpool four years ago for around £2M, and he ended up playing 104 times for Newcastle with 9 goals.

Smith was signed for £6M five years ago from Manchester United, and the former Newcastle captain played 94 times for Newcastle, and Peter Lovenkrands has essentially been at the club since January of 2009 on a free transfer and scored 29 goals in 84 appearances for the Magpies.

Alan Smith was offered a coaching role at Newcastle by Alan Pardew, but he turned it down, and is currently in negotiations with MK Dons on a new contract, and Alan played 10 times with two goals for the Dons since January on loan.

As well as these three senior players, some Development squad youngsters are leaving the club, and they are Samuel Adjei, Phil Airey,  Ole Soderberg, Ryan Donaldson, Stephen Folan, Jeff Henderson, Tamas Kadar, Greg McDermott and Patrick Nzuzi have all been released.

Newcastle had announced 11 players on their site, but Ole Soderberg had already joined Norwegian club Molde, and the lads were all told back in February that would not be retained.

Hungarian International Tamas Kadar (3 caps) played 18 times for the Newcastle first team.

New contracts have been offered to Paul Dummett, Australian Brad Inman, Conor Newton, Michael Richardson and James Tavernier.

Boo ya – Alan Smith finally leaving! That may sound harsh but lets face it, he has been nothing but a wage drain in the last few years

No doubt at all that our “Search & Acquire” squad will come up with some great players to replace those leaving. I feel confident we will end up with some good quality additions to the first team squad plus a good number of “Development Squad players” as well!!

    Fingers crossed lol

Only guy I’m sad about losing is Guthrie: wish him all the best and he looks a really good prospect for whoever he goes to in the future.

Someone on the last thread had Dzsudzsák is there team, Im sure its only because he scored a goal tonight that should never have counted.. how on earth have we a chance to sign him we cant afford him atall.. he signed for Dinamo Moscow in January for 19million euros so around 15 million or so… dont get me wrong he’s good but howay atleast think a little first we wouldnt have a chance

Also West Ham are going after Gameiro for £12million and are also apparently close to signing Yakubu for around £2million, Jaaskelinen for Free and ad imagine they’ll be signing a few players

Ba would never get his game at PSG.. They close to agreeing a deal for Pato and have already basically wrapped up a deal for Lavezzi

allardyce could never manage someone of gameiro’s quality… how’s he gonna cope with the constant hoooooof football. they’ll sign a tall striker that they can kick it long to, especially with the size of their pitch suits allardyce football perfectly

I saw a few goals like Dzsudzsak’s. There is an option that U dont wait the wishle so U can shoot any time. U must ask the ref and in that option anyone can come closer then 9m.

Dzsudzsak is a good LW and dont worth that 19m. Closer to 10m, but Dinamo wont sell him for that much. 15m euros maybe. No chance to sign him.
But we need a player like him, at LW.

Smith had 1 good half season in the championship. 6 years at 3M a year….Do the math…….hmmm.!!!!!!!!!!

For me Smith was every bit as much a mercenary as Owen, probably more so, even admitting he wasn’t up to EPL demands any more, but still taking the cash on the bench.

Fair play to Guthrie he’s made of better stuff.

    PSG got Lavezzi and Pato?
Poor Ba, where will he go?
    Everton? Villa?
doubt the top 4 will want him, his best bet is to stay I reckon.
