Penalty Misery For Magpies Last Night

Holland are ranked fourth in the latest FIFA rankings and Northern Ireland are ranked 100th.

Robin van Perise after scoring last night
Note that’s Newcastle target  Ibrahim Affelay in the picture

So we suppose it wasn’t too much of a surprise when Holland thrashed  Northern Ireland 6-0 and they were 4-0 up at half time.

Shane Ferguson started the game for Northern  Ireland and the Dutch were already two goals up in the 27th minutes when Shane Ferguson gave away a penalty when he was adjudged to have handled the ball in the penalty area.

Robin van Persie scored from the spot and the Dutch ended up thrashing the visitors at the sold-out Amsterdam ArenA.

That was Shane’s third cap and he seems to have almost become a regular under new manager Michael O’Neill, who admitted his inexperienced side were no match for the country who were only beaten in extra time in the final of the World Cup in South Africa two years ago.

And Newcastle target Ibrahim Afellay played for Holland in the game, and he is shown congratulating van Persie in the picture above.

Here’s the goals from that game, although it doesn’t show Shane’s hand ball:

Senegal beat Liberia 3-1 in Dekar, but they had to come form behind after only two minutes and then Newcastle super-striker and Senegal captain Papiss Cisse missed a penalty after just 10 minutes.

But then the Senegal side – Demba Ba is not in the squad for these games – came back and equalized through Brahmani Balde in the 32nd minute, before Dame N’Doye and Sadio Mane added goals late in the game, to give Senegal a much needed win in their first qualifying game for the World Cup in Brazil in 2014.

The World Cup qualifying for African teams has them split into 10 groups, and the group winners qualify for the next stage, and there will be five teams that finally make it to the World Cup finals in two years time.

Here’s the highlights of that game plus Cisse’s miss, and the Liberia goalkeeper had the cheek to even save his follow-up shot, after he had parried the penalty.

@jakesome – remember that they probably get loads of complaints saying “You’re pronouncing it wrong!!!” if they don’t bother at all.

Plus, it is somebody’s name, so how they pronounce is what is correct- it’s not really up for interpretation.

Plus, if you’re speaking french, you don’t just bulldoze through the words without any effort to ‘un- english’ it.

Plus, they’re commentating on a football match not trying to chat up a friendly lady in a wine bar or something- wouldn’t call it pretentious.

Plus… No, I think that’s all I’ve got on that

Pipo Inzaghi you having a giraffe? he’s nearly 39!!!! And he has only managed to play 18 times in the last 2 seasons due to injuries and the fact he can no longer hack it in a high level even though Italian football is crap… a highly doubt he would do anything in the premier league

The Dembas’ Senegal are in the same group with my Uganda and they are coming into “toon” next Saturday. I’ll be at the airport in my black and white shirt for th chance to meet a Newcastle player for the 1st time in my life. Came close when Lomana Lua Lua’s DRC visited but he’d turned his back on international football a few months before.

I met a beautiful woman whilst out walking the other night. There was a spark between us and she fell at my feet. As we lay there making love, I thought to myself…these tazers are well worth the money!

not in the know, but thinking about, its obvious we will sign a centre half, a few kids or prospects, and, if we sell one of our top players for big money, then two or three class players

At gt89 harry gave up on dos santos because he wasn’t an instant success. Id take him for cheap.
Pienaar is yet another player moyes has got the best out of. Moyes has to be the best manager in the premier league for the last decade on money spent/points ratio over such a long time.
