Newcastle Goalkeeper Finally Joins Glasgow Celtic

Expected news this morning as 24 year old Fraser Forster has joined Celtic on a permanent basis, after spending the last two seasons on loan at the Scottish Champions.

Fraser Forster – finally joins Celtic

Newcastle are expected to receive £2M for Fraser, and it was clear he had no future at Newcastle, after 24 year-old Dutch International Tim Krul took over the goalkeeper jersey from Steve Harper last season, and was one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

Forster was born in Hexham and came through the ranks at Newcastle, and the 6’7″ goalkeeper seemed to take a little time before deciding to move north of the border.

The Scottish Premier League will suffer from not having Rangers in their ranks next season – so how many points will Celtic win the league by?

Forster joined Newcastle from the famous Walker Boys Club, and has the dubious distinction of never having played for the Newcastle first team in a competitive game.

But that’s because most of his time over the last four seasons has been spent on loan at Stockport County, Bristol Rovers, Norwich City and Celtic, where he amassed 144 first team games, with just over half of them being clean sheets.

We wish him all the best at Celtic.

Good keeper, but was never going to get any playing time here.

For all those panicking about the amount of outgoing to incoming players, perhaps we’re trying to clear out and see what our final funds budget will be before we make our final moves for players?

So with Forster leaving that makes 73 players who have gone so far this window.

Players that have come in so far are Amalfitano, that bloke with Olympic relay torch and that 12 year old school girl signed up as cover for the reserves.

My maths isn’t great but I think we need to seen another 4 or 5 leave and then we’ll be fine.

    Newcastle United

    First team

    Youngsters around the first team

That is a first team consisting of 21 first team players and 6 youngsters.

It’s clearly we only need three new first team players, a RB, a CB and a forward that can play wide. We might need a CM as well. But it is also clear we need alot of youngsters 🙂

    Any thoughts?

Seems daft now, but 2 seasons ago I rated FF much more than I rated TK. I never expected TK to click into place as quickly as he did. I had him down as having great potential, but prone to flapping. How wrong I was. I still think FF will go and become a great keeper, but lets face facts, he was never gonna shift TK from the number 1 spot at the toon.

if demba stays, then yes a forward capable playing on the left (hoillet would be ideal for me) if demba is of, we need to replace him. We also need to replace Simpson as he is likely to sign for reading (debouchy, tavernier as a back up, also perch was good in rb and cdm positions at the end of last season ). i don’t know about CM, we have gosling, vukcic, abeid, marveaux, amalfitano, perch, jonas and even, raylor and benny and obertan able to play there, nervermind tiote and cabs, but in case of injuries and ACON and suspentions we should really consider arival of the new CM Anita sincei want player to play their strongest positions. p.s i still think that raylor is not a bad RB, as he offers much more offensively and is as strong as simmo defensively (if not stronger).

    Shola Silences

I think we have pulled out of that one.

..and I don’t think the Douglas deal was ever on. We need players ready for the Euro League and for pre-season. We cannot wait for Twente or for Douglas to be eligible for Holland.

I am curious about the Rosales rumors though!

Good luck Forster. I still think he’s a better keeper than many give him credit for but the rise of Krul has overshadowed his improvements. He’d have been very good backup to Krul in my opinion but I expect he wanted to play first team football as he’s easily capable of it. All the best Fraser, will probably see you back in England one day….

Sorry for being a wee tad pedantic, ed, but there is no such team as “Glasgow” Celtic, their full title is Celtic Football Club.

Anyway, this signing is definitely Celtic’s gain and Newcastle’s loss. Big Fraser has certainly come on leaps and bounds over the past season, and I’d reckon that Pardew probably hasn’t even bothered to watch him in any of those games otherwise he wouldn’t have let him go.
