Alan Pardew has aid today that two of Newcastle’s top youngsters – Shane Ferguson and Sammy Ameobi – will both start tomorrow night against Club Brugge, who are currently at the top of the Belgian league.
Sammy Ameobi will start tomorrow night
The Northern Ireland International and England U21 International are two of Newcastle’s top young players and tomorrow will be a big opportunity for them.
Also in the starting line up will be Checik Tiote, who was sent off on Sunday and received a three game ban in the Premier League.
This is what Alan Pardew said today about Shane and Sammy:
“They are two players, I think, who can effect the first-team at this football club and take us forward as a club.” “It is a big game for them and they are training very, very well.”
“We hope to see some fine performances from those two in particular tomorrow.” “We have to respect that Brugge are top of the league. We did that with Bordeaux and put a team out that was very strong, and the same will go for Brugge.”
As expected captain Fabricio Coloccini, who was simply magnificent at the back for Newcastle on Sunday, will be rested and held back for the important game against West Brom on Sunday.
Fab got cramp in both calves with just over 10 minutes to go in the game, and maybe we could have got the win if Colo had been able to see out the game – but of course we’ll never know.
Next up for Newcastle are Club Brugge, and we must go all out to capture all 3 points against the European opposition tomorrow night.

Comment #2Already got one player wrong for the starting line up then. Doh!
Where does everyone think Sammy will start? Is he considered LW or a withdrawn ST? Are we to assume Fergie LB with Sammy LW?

Comment #3This is why we need to get European competition. It is a great way of bringing on the youngsters on the edge of regular first team places.
I hope we see Abeid and Amal too soon.

Comment #4MFH….And also attracting more talented youngsters to the squad. Plus keeping us fans having to wait a full week for more football…that’s a serious plus.

Badly saying, isn’t it good we also get mid week games back.
Fear not, I shall be suitably punished.

Comment #11I think this may be the team tomora:
Harper
Tav Perch Taylor Fergie
Anita Tiote
Obertan Sammy
Cisse Shola
Or
Harper
Tav Perch Tayls Fergie
Anita Tiote
Obertan Marv Sammy
Cisse
I would be happy with either, some youth and some experience and someplayers that need some gametime/confidence. And a team hopefully capable of winning!

From previous thread, agree with you there,it’s funny how people would rather have him written off(Xisco) than see him come good,I don’t know whats happened behind the scenes but from the average fans point of view he doesn’t seem to have had much of a chance and even less so if it’s true about his fee rising after so many appearances,if he did come good and he was offered an extension on his contract maybe he would feel as though he had something to prove and sign on at a sensible wage,it would definitely solve the striker dilemma if he came through.

Comment #19To be fair i did not expect sammy to start tomorrow.
i have watched him loads of times youth reserves and has more skill than most for sure, he just has to learn to be more consistant, a lot of the time his possesion ends up good ball followed by a bad ball next ti,e i possesion.
He needs to get that put right as it can be irritating when his runs come to nothing.
That said his brother has been one of the most frustrating players ever at the toon for me over the years even though he is becoming a geordie legend for me now in his old age ha
So go on sammy and fergie go show them what you can do, i have no worries about fergie of course but sammy just needs a bit more consistancy and to know when the right time to release the ball is instead of trying to beat another player.

Comment #22Over the moon Sammy and Fergy are playing, about time Sammy got a game, its been a long time since he started a match, people should be patient with the lad, he has bags of ability and hopefully will come through and push Jonas out he team.
My team tomorrow –
Harper/Elliot
Tav Saylor Perchy Fergy
Tiote Anita
Obertan Sammy Marveuax
Cisse
Loads of pace and loads of ability, should be good, personally think this team is capable of playing better football than the first team.

Comment #26Competing in the Premier league, Europa, and U21’s is the ideal situation for the development of the club at this stage as it gives the opportunity for all senior players to get a regular competitive game. We probably don’t want Champions league football yet because it would likely slow down the development of our up and coming squad players who most likely couldn’t do a job at that level at this stage of their careers. We ideally can continue to qualify for the Europa for another season or two and then make the step up ready and well prepared to compete with the very best.

Comment #31Siem De Jong playing behind Ba would be a nice combination.
City seem a bit one dimensional, similar to Arsenal at the moment wtih too much coming through the centre and little width.

Comment #32Huntelaar is a lump by all accounts, who scores a ton of goals but contributes little else. Hard to say if we would benefit from him or struggle to play well overall with him in the team.

Tbh citeh look dry of ideas and have done everytime ive seen them this season think they have hit that big problem of having to many egos on the pitch, dont think mancini can get past his own ego to sort his players!
I mean look at this game he’s like a kid playing fifa 3-1 so he takes off the whole midfield and has 4 strikers on and now not only do they not look like scoring but look like they could concede at any minute!!!
Oh and your spot on about de jong!!!

Comment #38jawball, anita was a shoe in every game for ajax, they loved him and did not want to sell, the prem is a different type of league altogether from the dutch league, i am convinced the lad will come good, he has really only played 7/8 games for us.
He will become such an asset as time goes on he has too much ability not to.

Comment #39De Jong and a CB would be the perfect Jan window for me, with no-one leaving.
As for the Anita comment, i think we’ll need to be patient with him for one he’s not had a run of games but getting used to the pace of the league will take some time. I’d still like to see Pards go 4-3-3 with Cab, Tiote, Anita, then Arfa, Ba, Obertan
Wonder if Abeid will be in the squad tomorrow? Might be a very slight chance of Inman making the bench
