An update on my health situation - we have terminated the PluVicto treatment halfway through, because of the severity of the side effects - diarrhea, vomiting, and acid reflux.
And there was no evidence the treatment was having any positive effect in stopping the prostate cancer from spreading in the bones.
There are no treatments left for me to go on.I will go into home hospice care now and will have a hospice nurse visit me at home regularly to ensure I am as comfortable as possible and we will treat the side effects of the treatments I have had.
It's down the final stretch now, and I have run out of treatments, and nature will now take its course.
I hope Newcastle can get many wins this season from now on, and I am at peace with all of this.
Thanks for all your help through the years - it's very much appreciated

Comment #43I don’t post much these days but still read time to time.
Those of you saying how shit we’ve been this season are talking absolute balls.
We’ve been shit for more than this season. Ever since Pards took over its been awful football.
We’ve played 4-5 good games under his management.
3-1 against Scousers (Hughtons team), 5-0 against West Ham, 3-1 against Stoke, 3-0 against Man Ure and 3-1 against WBA (first half only)
EVERY other game we have tactically poor, under the cosh and played utter pish. The only time we created anything was with 4-3-3.
I never apologised for hating Pardew coming in, I always said I didn’t like him and now te points I was raising nearly 2 years ago on here are starting to become main steam.
Hate to say I told you so. Peace out. See you in 8 years.

Comment #44@Transfer Sage, We can’t bench France’s starting midfielder, he’s just been off due to injury these last 2 weeks. He also needs a more defined role, because he isn’t as involved as he should be.

True enough its about a means to an end and some of our lads need a kick up the arse!
As for benny playing ideally yes atm tho? Not so sure i think he’s to greedy on the ball wouldnt have faith in him bringing others into the game ir playing a killer ball over trying for the glory
BPC
Even in a 4-3-3 still think it woulf be ba starting up front on form so dont think it has much to do with ba more with anita not settling as quick as hoped for and tiote/perchinio missing so much of the start of the season dont think he has faith in the others to pull off that formation!

I quite like the formation you’re suggesting certainly preferable to 442, bt to be fair Cabs scored v sunderland and Liverpool and hit the post v brugges.
I think whether it’s 2431 or 433, either will suit benny, cisse and Cabs far better. If ba won’t play left for the sake of the team, Pardew has a decision to make and as someone said needs to grow a pair before this season follows the pattern of all the other clubs he’s been at. One good season followed by a really bad one.
After all pards thinks harwewood and Mullins were better than Tevez and Maerano!

Comment #48What I would like to see next week.
3 man midfield of tiote, anita and cabaye
tiote holding
cabaye attacking
anita doing both, get forward when he can but also be back when needed.
Have ben arfa and marvoux either side of Ba.
with two holding midfielders santon can attack more knowing he has tiote who can cover him if needs be.

Comment #49People saying the way we play is not Pardews fault need to wake up. A blind man could see all of the long balls Krul, Willo and Saylor aimlessly hoof upfield and loose possession 80% of the time and the lack of service or chances created for the strikers. Cabaye must have a sore neck at full time watching those balls fly over his head, He is a French international FFS and we should be getting him on the ball as much as possible

Comment #50Sorry Beattie, I wholeheartedly disagree. We’ve had many other class displays under Pards, just this season have we seen a string of poor performances and minimal results.
We wouldn’t even have this team (which is class but out of form) if it weren’t for Pardew.

Comment #51Was at the game today, the fans were as bad as the players tbh, i was embarrassed.
Simpson, Santon, Anita, Ba all played okay, Ben Arfa was so frustrating today. He needs to realise that sometimes the better option is to just play it back to his full back. Cabaye went missing, Tiote is needed and Cabaye to be either dropped next game or a different formation is needed.
Gutted Cisse was brought off, Ameobi offers little and doesn’t poach like Cisse does, neither does Ba. Ba was dropping off and looking quite good, however the lack of movement from Ameobi was woeful.
0-0 would have seemed fairer as neither team had any quality today.

Comment #52Glad I was at work then. Omg
Investment in January is critical.
No competition for places = complacency. Or pardew needs to try something different or ask his mate fergie on hairdryer management techniques to sharpen up.
Squad needs a serious kick up the arse.
Looking like fa cup/europa likely routes to some success?
We need AC back and a cb that can score a few headers.

I think the reason cabaye has been off form this season is he know he is a starter.
I’m not saying he is being deliberately poor, just that sometimes you can lose focus and drive when you are comfortable in your job.
A week on the bench might shock him into upping his game again.

Well I hope it was. Pardew needs to grow a pair and put the team first not Ba. Whether its Ba on the left wing or him and cisse rotating as the main striker, I don’t care but there has to be a change
However the only player I would wish injury on, surprisingly is not Suarez, it’s James McLean, and that’s only after what I heard today, he is now the ultimate tw@t

in fairness to willo
there was one point early in the game where he played a long ball and it went for a goal kick.
he then turned and slated the lads around his as not a single player showed for the short ball.
the problem is the players aren’t moving into space and they aren’t giving each other options.
This result in willo, simmo, krul going long and players like santon and ben arfa trying to beat 2/3 men all the time

Comment #64He would have provided a constant threat- i counted 5 or 6 times the ball getting to the byline and ameobi and ba both on the edge of the box, anita the only player trying to get in! I can guarantee Cisse would have been in the box, automatically providing a greater threat to their defenders.

Comment #66@Transfer Sage, I don’t know, seems like it would do more harm, and I saw him down on the ground nursing his ankle/shin area today so he obviously is coping with that.
@wreker16, I could certainly wish enough harm on Suarez for the both of us :). I’m adamant a 1-1 setup would work well with Ba/Cisse because they both yearn to be central and could run across each other rather than stand like statues side by side. 433 works but alienates one of them as they are both CF’s

I think the last thing we need is AC back. We officially play worse than stoke with all the long balls now. benny and cabs are forced out of games by it. besides what did carroll do today except fluff his one good chance.

Comment #70Well I paid 48 quid to watch that shite today so have everyright to voice my opinion on here,I’m not tactically minded enough to say whether there is any fault on Pards behalf, what I could see was a clear lack of belief which I think stems directly from the lack of investment in the summer.

Comment #73Just back from the match, to be fair we did not do enough today to deserve to win, our final decision making in the final third was awful.
Cabaye for me today was no where to be seen.
Tiote back next week and he has to start waking up to the fact that it is costing the team when he is suspended he just has to show more discipline.
team for next week
krul, (simpson, praying we get debuchy in jan) santon, taylor, williamson, cabaye, tiote, anita, fergie, ben arfa, shola, ba.
Im afraid cisse is looking not very clever at the moment and may need a kick up the backside.
I would not hesitate to play adam campbell but i know it wont happen yet, he has more of a football brain then shola and cisse put together.

But in reality it should be an easy fix. Pardew needs to get the players playing in the way that best suits them not the way he wants to play. Imagine being players like Ben Arfa, Cabaye and Ba having to play so defensively and direct.
There have been so many occasions under Pardew that we go a goal up and then sit on it rather than punishing the opposition, or we don’t start playing offensively until we go a goal behind. With the firepower we have teams should be fearing us especially at St. James but under Pardew gone are the days of 5-0 and 6-0 thrashings unless we are on the wrong end of them.

Comment #78That our players are rubbish is not their fault. This is a manager issue. Some players are used out of position, and they are all used in a poor tactical system. 442 doesn’t work anymore. Not without the luck from last season… We got Ba and Cisse. Ba was brought in as a temporary solution(therefore the clause). Then we got Cisse, and the two of them together doesn’t work. Ba leaving in january might not be as bad as it looks, if we buy a left attacking midfielder with pace to play in a 433 formation.
I agree Jonas is over the top, but it’s not his fault he’s beeing used. When he is used he always work his socks of, 100%. You can’t ask for more from a player, but Newcastle would benefit from a more attacking player. No doubt!
Would also like to see Obertan on the right and Ben Arfa in the middle creating space for each other. Not because Obertan is the solution, but because 433/451 is. Now we are static and slow!

We all want more investment but it is what it is. We all know we don’t spend much. It’s either the players we want at a low price or nothing so not much we can do.
If players were brought to the club on the promise of signing big players and pushing for the champions league then they can complain.
If players understood the level of investment before hand they shouldn’t complain.
I think our squad is good enough for a top 8 finish, could push onto a top 6 if we play well and consistent.
What we need is to just let the players attack. We have a lot of good attacking players who spend too much time worrying about getting back instead of forward.
Even at the end of todays game we only had 2 men in the box.
