An update on my health situation - we have terminated the PluVicto treatment halfway through, because of the severity of the side effects - diarrhea, vomiting, and acid reflux.
And there was no evidence the treatment was having any positive effect in stopping the prostate cancer from spreading in the bones.
There are no treatments left for me to go on.I will go into home hospice care now and will have a hospice nurse visit me at home regularly to ensure I am as comfortable as possible and we will treat the side effects of the treatments I have had.
It's down the final stretch now, and I have run out of treatments, and nature will now take its course.
I hope Newcastle can get many wins this season from now on, and I am at peace with all of this.
Thanks for all your help through the years - it's very much appreciated

Comment #81Awful – had decent positions spoiled repeatedly by awful final ball. Benny was good in the first half and Fergy did some decent covering before Simmo went off.. Santon maybe played a bit. Errr…that’s it.

Comment #82people seem to be split on who is to blame for todays non event. IMO it is all pards fault, there were too many things wrong today surely no one can blame the team for every thing. the biggest problem today , and the reason why we couldt score was simply because there were not enough bodies in the box. i noticed that early on in the game, in the second half it was that blatent it was really a joke. but you know what? pards never tried to fix it. not once did i see himwave the lads forward. he must have seen what everybody else could see , its his job ffs. 5 mins to go, 1-0 down ,ball comeswide in the box, BA picks it up. looks up NO FU..ER THERE!!! it did nt matter who it was in the box, just get some bodies in there. did pards realise we were 1-0 down or what. shocking basic errors he couldnt see, let alone put right, what a plonker we really have for a manager

Comment #84wreker16, before I started watching NUFC, I was a barca fan, and coentrao is just a dirty player and poor sportsman. Seen him chop at Messi and push his head into the turf a couple times. Just a typical Mourinho bred arrogant c**t

it is simple but for some reson pardew wont do it…i can’t explain why as it would help us offensively but also let us dictate possession which helps defensively.
What i find annoying is we scored 3 goals in pardews first game…..we have never scored more than 3 in a game under him.
There are times we have scored 2/3 then just totally sat back and waited for the game to end.
The problem is we often do that at 1-0….we just sit back, invite pressure then scrape a win or draw.

Comment #87imo shola shouldn’t be near the 11.
A winger is definately needed, in the form of alejandro gomez. Catanias key player, would cost $6m euros. Definitely need to see campbell soon, should be 3rd choice striker imo.
However we do not create enough chances to justify playing 4-4-2, would be better playing 4-3-3 and have an out and out striker (CISSE) up front, with campbell as his understudy

I think Pardew is not helping with the tactics and the defensive attitude of players.
What is beyond his control is that players are hiding and not showing for the simple passes. Other than ben arfa and sometimes cabaye they all hide and dont seem to want the ball at their feet.

Comment #91Ashton, unfortunately, games are won on the PITCH, not on the back pages of a paper, or on the lovely tactic sheets they use in the training rooms.
Preparation for any game is a vital exercise – why were we not prepared for this game??
On paper, you are probably right, we have a better team. In reality, however, they out played us, out thought us, out performed us and THEY WON!!!! Why was that?
On todays performance would any of our players get in their team – most unlikely!! Results are the only thing that count in this league and on today’s result, WHU had a better team & Manager than we did.
That makes me feel gutted.

Comment #92Why don’t we attack a lesser team like West Ham from the get go??
Something is wrong with Pardews tactics. Not once last year did we score more than 3 goals. That’s just poor of a team finishing 5th.

Comment #93Sure there are days when players have absolute stinkers and are fully to blame but the majority of the time the manager needs to take the blame. There is no doubt we have the players.
Anita- One of the first names in the Ajax squad that took 4 points from Man City in the Champs League
Cabaye- Title winner with Lille
Ben Arfa- Do I need to say anything
Ba- Great goalscorer and has been scoring ever since he came to the Premier League
Cisse – Clinical finisher and got 13 in as many appearances last season
Collocini – One of the best CB’s I have seen at the club
Santon – The new Maldini
Tiote – Unplayable on his day and one of the best DM’s in the league
Is it really a highly unlikely coincidence that these players have not clicked or is our tactics and playing style at fault ?

Thanks.
I just look at teams like madrid, barca, man city, man utd, arsenal, chelsea, etc
Yes I accept the talent they have is superior to ours but another example could be spurs under harry redknapp.
They all let their attacking players get forward and influence the game.
You might have to rely on your keeper at times but even if you concede 1 you can usually score a couple.
We hit a purple patch playing 433 last year which got the best out of all our players.
Why on earth we changed that and dont use it now is totally beyond me
Even if Ba wants the central role, give it to him, bench cisse for now, get the performances good and start winning games again.

Comment #95Whoever thinks Guti being injured is a blessing in disguise needs to have a long hard look at exactly WHEN our midfield started getting passed to death. The moment he went off, so our engine died, and Anita is like a fish out of water in this league I am afraid, very very lightweight and nowhere near good enough. Without Tiote, we needed Guti’s work rate, as Cabaye played like he couldnt give a monkeys, and as for Cisse……….

Transfer Sage, I share your frustrations with our overly defensive play. The positive is our defense usually is stout, save for a couple multi goal thumps. But WHU’s goal today was luck, an off target strike that went into Nolan’s boot.
Pards is just that type of manager, but he also knows how to man manage and scout. It’s his damn 442 I’m not understanding. I don’t like 433 the best but even that is better!

The problem is we SETTLE with Guit. Everyone is content with his average performance. It was our team as a whole making bad judgments on the ball and not offering support that caused the poor passing, PLUS WHU’s meth-powered press.
I’d rather have Fergie or Marveuax on the left. Fergie especially since he always goes forward with purpose.

Comment #102The Pardew out brigade are pathetic. The people on twitter who are claiming they are giving up there season ticket because they are sick of the football we play are so stupid there not human.
The way I see it, our midfield got lost in the physical nature of the game. We only have short little players, who can not physically compete against big bullying teams like west ham. As such in the first half when we tried to play good passing football, and skilful football, it didnt work. There were several occasions in the first half up to the point (he who shall no longer be named) scored, where we were playing some promising football. Once we realised that failed, the long ball stuff from krul started, and of course playing like that against west ham is like trying to put out a fire at a petrol station with a water pistol. It just doesn’t work. West ham today were aggressive, tough, very dirty, and very very lucky.
If we had tiote or perch on the pitch, we would not have lost. We had no commanding defensive midfielder, which the attractive style of football we all want to see needs, especially against a physicals side like westham.
We were creating lots of chances, and were unlucky not to atleast draw. Our strikers were really off their game today, but aside from the result, I don’t see what all the fuss is about? The only things that annoyed me were :
Not having tiote or perch
Kruls long balls
Being outmuscled of nearly every challenge
Our strikers not taking their chances,
Krul not scoring from that corner 🙂
Oh, and the absolute zero atmosphere
Seriously guys, things will get better. Now is not the time to be talking about Pardew out or anything like that. Now is the time to buckle in to the roller coaster that is supporting Newcastle and try to enjoy the ride.
Seriously, people need to just calm down and support their team, or don’t support them at all. Sometimes I can’t decide which is the better option for some “fans”

anita came from ajax as and was part of a 3 man midfield
he played in a team which dominated the league and always gave him options.
he has come to a higher paced league, in a team which is ranked 6-10th best in the league and where most players aren’t giving him options on the ball.
it will take time for him to adjust.
Guti is fine in a DM role, most agree there….people dont want him on the wing as he is no longer a winger as he nnever gets forward and his final ball isn’t great.
he can however, run his heart out in the middle and play the simple ball well enough.

Comment #106Well I have to say that this was a predicted result by many. We needed to get at them, and it seems when Cheick is missing, we just fall to pieces in centre mid. We were bossed from start to finish in that area.
I know that people have highlighted the positions we need to strengthen, but for me we need a genuine box to box midfielder and a pacy forward who offers a different option.
We are a shadow of the team from last year that played with freedom but worked hard. We are so bogged down by negative tactics and even when 1 nil down we bring strikers back to defend set pieces. Nightmare.

Comment #107Also Diame was great today and I said we should have got him on a free in the summer, definite opportunity missed. I know I have said this before but imagine what a manager like Jol, Redknapp or the guy at West Brom could get out of our squad. Krul, Colo, Santon, Ba, Cisse, Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Tiote,
Anita, Marveaux etc All for peanuts v 35m for Carrol!! Fickle or what.
We have the players, we just need a manager who is not frightened to let them play. At the moment Pardew is making Allardyce and Pulis look good
I think our players have done well last season, in spite of pardew not because of him.

Comment #110There are no excuses for today’s result. There was no fight in our team, no energy and no movement. It was the usual spew that we’ve all been used to watching this season, it’s just our luck ran out today. West ham were much more organised than us and managed to sneak a goal. Pardew ‘s reluctancy to stop playing 4-4-2 continue to annoys me.
Also, I’ve never really slated Simmo and Willo properly but today they were absolutely shocking. Much like the rest of the team but they stood out for the wrong reasons today. Today showed we desperately need recruitments in January because we will not finish top 6 at this rate.
I wanted 10 points from our next 4 games. We have already failed to do that. I worry against Swansea next week because they will expose us more than West ham did today.

Comment #113Transfer sage:
I agree, Anita has all the credentials, but he is just shrigged off the ball way too easily. Even Hugo Viana made it to a Europa league cup final, but was never good enough in England. Anita is too lightweight, and as for Ajax dominating the dutch league, they did that with one touch football (which is why we went shopping there). Why is it that Anita is always dispossessed on his thrid or fourth touch?
Without Tiote in that midfield, we HAVE to go 4 across the middle, as no one else breaks up play like him. Cabaye struggles without Tiote alonside him, (Perch does OK, but he is no Chieck). Sorry to upset all the 433 fantasists, but its true. Liverpool passed us to bits last week, and better teams will murder us. There are occasions where 433 wont work (Spurs away last season anyone?)…………
The minute the ‘ideal’ personnel are not available, Pardew has to adjust out framework accordingly, its simple.

Comment #114SAGE @89 ” they go hiding” – not the fault of the manager?- i think it is , what you need to understand is WHY are they like that, WHY are they getting worse and worse every week. how they perform on the pitch is all down to the manager. What has he done or been saying to them to make them go like that. i could guarentee if we had mourinio in charge of our squad for a few weeks you would see a completely different team with a completley different attitude. it is all down to the manager. sadly we have this plonker for another 8 f//king years, well we havnt really, hell be gone by then.

Comment #116Hopefully we can improve, but Pardew has clearly knocked Cisse’s end in. We had a fool proof system and in an attempt to keep Demba BA happy we have lost our identity.
They are desperate for him to stay, but if he leaves, then the players that remain are so disillusioned that we might not be able to turn this season into a great one.
Please bring back 4-3-3.

I am angry like everyone else, but not a knee jerk reactionist. I hope Pardew can learn something from how badly we played, and come up with rectification.
We all want to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. I am sure tactical genius was not sculped overnight, and measures will be worked upon. One defeat does not a disater make.

Comment #119don’t usually like to criticise, but after a showing like that i can’t even begin to put a slightly positive spin on things. We were completely dismantled in the centre of the pitch, Diame controlled the game, and Jonas, Cabaye and Anita are at entire fault for that.
We have players not performing all over the pitch at the moment and it’s causing other players to wander in attempt to try and cover – however, in effect it’s just leaving us looking like a disjointed//disorganised team who can’t even put 3 decent passes together.
This persevering has to stop now. I want to see players dropped on Saturday, with some fresh legs in the XI.
Oh and some pass//move drills in training wouldn’t go a miss, cause our lads looked like a bunch of 11 year olds today minus Ben Arfa and Ba.
