With Matthieu Debuchy having been brought in to shore up the Newcastle defense, there will now be few first team opportunities for Danny Simpson, and we expect Newcastle to try to move him out in January, if the club gets a decent enough offer.
Danny Simpson – probably played his last game for the Magpies
Like a number of other Newcastle players, Danny has not had a good season, and in the last month his mind often seems to be anywhere but on what he’s doing on the field of play, and it seems he would like a move to London.
And it seems there are a number of London clubs willing to take Danny off Newcastle’s hands, and they are Fulham, West Ham and QPR. QPR will probably offer Danny the biggest wage packet so if that’s what he wants he could end up at Loftus Road.
But QPR are also one of the favorites to go down this season, but Harry Redknapp may still be able to save the London club from relegation – maybe.
One reason that Simpson wants to move south, is that his new girlfriend lives in London, although his former girlfriend is now pregnant with their second child.
Fulham or West Ham seem two good clubs that Danny could join, and we think Newcastle will be looking for around £2M for the former Manchester United defender, whose contract runs out in the summer.
And once Yohan Cabaye comes back, Newcastle have right back cover with Vurnon Anita (and also James Perch) – in case Matthieu gets injured.
Danny currently has a hamstring problem, which he picked up in the Arsenal defeat, and he may still be out for two or three weeks with that injury, but we don’t expect that to stop any potential deal being struck.
It may be a win-win situation for Newcastle and the buying club – if a £2M fee can be agreed.

Comment #4In fact its probably wise to have him as back-up until the end of the season no matter how bad he is. I think he can still do a job defensively.

Comment #6This window is like all the others…….AP talks about working around the clock….yet the press mention lots of players signed by other clubs. For example West Ham have signed 3 players …..Newcastle 1.
Again Dekka’s playing brinkmanship….this time it’s with the club……what a “winner”…he is?!! We knew Ba was gone, we knew we needed at least 1 if not 2 CB, we knew we needed 2 strikers if Ba went cos’ we were short (hence de yong).
Unbelievable that this window is shaping up like the last one already. Do the board not understand that Jan has got 9pts written all over it and that we need players in sooner, rather than later?!!!

Comment #25Still with the Betfair posts -nothing definitive/attributable. I do not know how good their info turns out to be.
Could a possible scenario be that he wants to come to the Toon (hence rejection of Dirty Arrys’ intervention) and that the Toon are thinking of a loan deal because of no money or doubts about his fitness. I don’t know -clearly it’s on the back boiler if Remy is still in Morocco.

Comment #28The overreaction to how bad Simpson supposedly is is equalled only by the overreaction to how good Cabaye supposedly is.
Imo Simpson has given us great service for the £600K we paid for him and the £10k wages he got as part of the Championship winning side.
You lot calling him worse than shit should hang your heads in shame. Supporters my rse.

Comment #34Simpson is a good squad player who has had more goal line clearances than most players in the PL.
It’s wasy to slate the defence however the real problem lies with our inability to control the midfield and keep possesion up front.

Perhaps out of the 35m AC money that Ashley pocketed?

On a serious note, i would have him as a back up right back. I’v had enuf of seeing players out of position. Ie Anita filling in there. It would never happen though as he wants more dosh and now has an excuse with this dirty he is with

Lack of rumours (compared to normal) may be a good thing that the club are conducting their business – for the most part – in private.
I’d like to think they are lining up some steals (you have to say Debuchy is a fantastic deal on the face of it) and no one else will know until it is too late.
However, if we do not hear by Friday, I think it will be the same old story of the deadline day drama followed by “we tried… no one wanted to sell… signings are complicated… etc”
