Newcastle’s wage bill is around 67% of the revenues for the last financial year, and there will be an attempt to reduce the wage bill by having a mini clear-out of players this summer – and that’s even more likely to happen after the five Frenchmen arrived in January.
James Perch – will be sold this summer
The clear out will largely be with fringe players, and news today that 20 year-old Mehdi Abeid has been told he can leave the club.
And it’s a surprise to us that James Perch, who has just one year left on his four-year deal, will also be available, after James has played well these last couple of seasons, after a terrible first season at Newcastle.
But James is a solid player, and would be great for any Championship side looking to be promoted next season, and we have seen he can play anywhere along the back four and in defensive midfield too.
But with the versatile Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and Moussa Sissoko having just been drafted in – they would be preferred to James Perch – and since James will become a free agent next summer, Newcastle will try to flog him this summer for a decent fee.
And Newcastle will probably make a profit on James, who signed for around £1M three years ago from Nottingham Forest.
The 27-year-old is on holiday in the Nevada desert right now in Las Vegas, along with a number of other Newcastle players, and it seems that Leicester City are keen on him, after they have failed to gain promotion over the last couple of years – being eliminated each time in the play-offs.
It seems a fee of £1.5M is what Leicester would be willing to offer for the versatile player.
James has made 81 appearances for Newcastle with one goal, but he has also picked up 21 yellow cards – and it seems Newcastle want more than that £1.5M for a player who has been more than decent in the Premier League over the last two seasons.
Newcastle could also look to sell fringe players like Dan Gosling, Gabby Obertan, Mike Williamson and perhaps Romain Amalfitano this summer, and Steve Harper and Danny Simpson will leave at the end of the month when their contracts run out.
And yesterday Danny was being linked with Serie A club Torino in Italy.

both wings mate, he can cross & cut inside, good pace and ball control the only thing he lacks in is defense so it wuld be better to push him up.
also mate i would include MYM & Marv but for MYM only if Colo stays and for Marv hopefully he works on his fitness so he can play a full 90 minutes

Sorry, had to nip out. Not everyone who makes it has to go out on loan, no. But it increases there chances, unless as I said, you are an exceptional talent, Giggs, Wilshere, Fabregas, Owen, Rooney – But generally you play firstteam at 17.
The fact the focus in the championship was fine, and staying in the prem was a focus, but that is short sighted, and if people back support Ashleys view for the club, then he isn’t taking that short termist view. Therefore the failure to loan or develop these players is firmly placed on the club.
Anyway, we shall see. Once again, as with so much at the club at the minute, we can only hope lessons have been learned!
NPS,
Campbell has to go out on loan, as do some of the others, unless we decide to do what Villa have done this year, and effectively put it down as a bedding in season and not worry too much where we finish as long as we stay up. In which case, lets go get Dale Jennings from Bayern, Powell from Man U, Clayton from Crewe, Hughes from Derby and Ince from Blackpool. Say bugger next year, we are looking to have these players develop and grow as a unit over the next few years.
Anyway, off out for the day now, footy match, and then end of season bash. Enjoy.

Comment #133Just after Sissoko arrived I checked out a few blogs trying to find out what to expect. There seemed to be a bit of a consensus from Toulouse fans that He played good and then disappointed on a bit of a regular basis -good/bad/good/ bad. After seeing the bloke play he clearly is a powerhouse. His game against Chelsea was excellent -raw power unleashed. However, it became apparent to me in his subsequent games he seemed to be used in a role of chasing down the ball from one side of the pitch to the other – and then becoming knackered. I think careful consideration needs to be exercised as how best to play him otherwise what he offers will be wasted.

Comment #135If there’s one young player we should be pursuing this window it is Marco van Ginkel. 20 years old nearly played 100 games for Vitesse. Scores regularly, can head and shoot from distance. Capped by the Netherlands last year. Apparently vitesse want 8 million, which for a player that would already get in our team and has the potential to be one of the best CM/CAM’s in the world is nothing.

Comment #136Mister Tuff…No doubt Sissoko NOT a No 10…he’s played most of his life as a defensive midfielder and that’s exactly where he should be played replacing Tiote.
Anita and Sissoko will make a good pairing and both can defend as well as attack so they can do that in turns rather than Sissoko doing it all time and running himself into the ground.
Sissoko tried to do it all on his own last year…he needs to learn how to pick a pass rather than do it all himself.
He has the makings of being a great player and needs to concentrate on his job rather than being all things to all men.

Debuchy Santon
M’Biwa Coloccini
Anita Sissoko
Cabaye
Ben Arfa Gouffran
Carroll
Elliot, Saylor, Raylor, Haidara, Jonas, Marveaux and Cisse.
On that basis we only need AC and newer/better fringe/development players.
If all fit – not bad if I say so myself, tiote could fogure but I feel he is the most expendable in the current squad of so called purples.

Comment #141Would hate to see James Perch be sold – i think he’s quality. Yeah sure he’s not a world beater but he does the job that nobody seems to appreciate that needs to be done and he does it well. Maybe if he was called Jamese Perchose he’d be appreciated better. Another case of a non fancy name english man not getting teh credit he deserves. He’s honest and gives 150% whenever he’s needed. Something which can’t be said of some others who are more valued and talked about.
Furthermore i think this is just BS and and a waste of an article. If Pardew plays this guy ahead of the quality Anita do you really think he’s gunna sell him?

Comment #142Here’s an interesting thought for you.
We clean out all of the fringe players.
Krul, Cabaye, Hatem & Cisse are also sold on.
Then Llambias fails to get anyone “over the line.”
It’s the stuff of nightmares!
