27 year-old Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac is stalling over a possible £12M move to Newcastle United.
Andre-Pierre Gignac – doesn’t want to come to Newcastle
The Daily Mail is reporting that Andre-Pierre Gignac is not sure that a move to Newcastle United would be a good move to him.
So if the Mirror report is to be believed, then the player has told his agent to find a bigger club than Newcastle.
When the news broke earlier this week that the Magpies may be interested in Gignac, most Newcastle fans thought that £12M for the player was a bit much, and he probably wasn’t worth that – so the fact he may not want to come to Newcastle is fine with us.
In fact it could be indicative of a character flaw. 😀
Gignac has been tracked by Chief Scout Graham Carr for about a year now, and it’s Graham’s recommendation to Joe Kinnear that Newcastle are after Gignac,
But it has been clear over these last couple of days that Newcastle’s number one striker target is still St. Etienne’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Newcastle are willing to pay over £15M for the 24 year-old Gabon International striker.
If Gignac doesn’t want to come to Newcastle, so be it, Newcastle are already after a bigger and better player than the French International.
Since joining Marseilles from Toulouse in 2010, Gignac has scored 32 goals in 101 appearances for Marseilles, and while at Toulouse for four seasons, before joining Marseilles, he scored 28 goals in 116 appearances.
If he doesn’t want to come to Newcastle then Newcastle will not sign him – it’s as simple as that.
What do you think?

Comment #8And we want better player than Gignac.
5 clubs invovled in Belhanda deal. Kiev, Al Zazeera…rest is not confirmed. Villa rumoured to be favorite but they nor us have been confirmed in for him. Club said to be signing him tomorrow.
Letting Villa sign him would be so stupid. Especially since we should now all about him. Carr need a special players if we were to finish above Villa with Beneteke and Belhandafor sure. We definetly need to have some special players better than Belhanda line up if we think we are finishing over Villa next year than if that happens.

Oh my Godddd!
I joke, i’m not one of these fans that sees an article like this one and thinks it’s gospel.
Never believe anything until you hear it from the clubs involved.

Comment #14Not getting the Gig. I doubt there’s much truth in us wanting him or in him expecting a bigger club. He’s not been pulling up any trees and he ain’t getting any younger.

If the price tag is 15 €/£ on Belhanda and 10 €/£ on De Jong I would go for De Jong. Have you heard anything about Maher?
De Jong is non-african as well. Makes even more sense if we get PEA.
Still don’t like if Villa get him.

Comment #17Sazzer soz my pc crashed again I think it would be very hard for Villa to sign him with the options he has. As for De jong ive heard the price is £9-10m and we r also still interested in his brother Luuk as well but I am hearing we do want Bent pards is desperate to get that experience up front. As for Maher we still like him the same as Zouma I feel we will not enter a bidding war.

Comment #22That’s good news then.Gignac would’ve been a massive disappointment , not as bad as Darren Bent obviously but still disappointing!
This summer is sort of morbidly fascinating in that some exciting links and stories are coming up (PEA + Zouma/ maybe even Belhanda) but I still can’t shake the feeling that it is going to be just like last summer: lots of stories and a few long running sagas with one big:
“We just couldn’t get them over the line in time because of all the staff changes…”
So that they end up only getting one player and practically no money spent at all.
Hope I’m proved very wrong though!

Comment #28About Danny, he has found his true place…playing in the Championship!
He is a good lad, but a Championship player at best and will fit right in a QPR; lets hope QPR will stay put for a couple of seasons!
So I see the ITK’s are out again (I swear sometimes it is like reading your horoscope 😉 )

Comment #29jail -morning -somebody tried the merde de taureau gag a couple of days ago.
I was reading an article last night by NUFC Blog on Metro co.uk who said he started up the interest in Wilfried Bony a couple of months ago, other blogs picked it up and then newspapers. The guy said we were never interested in Bony at all -there was a quote apparently from Dastardly saying that he lacked the physicality for the PL -but he’s built like the proverbial brick s***house.

Comment #30Think bent would be a great buy for around 2.5 – 3mil, also with the provisos that we get another international striker FIRST and he doesnt expect first team. Think hed be superb back up and cup fodder.
If Gignac has suggested a) we’re a small club or b) that the other clubs linked with him are bigger than us. He can take his impressively consistent, below average goal scoring ability to the lofty heights of the Russian league. Also 33 goals in ligue 1 makes me wonder how many he could score in prem.
Pea, hopefully he comes before bent but im not holding my breath just yet, hes still on holiday and until hes signed on the dotted line he can do what he wants.

That would be brilliant if true.
Always said I don’t think he would make it in the prem. Regardless of his ridiculous goal scoring record.

Comment #32sean – I was a bit disappointed when I read the article – I thought Bony might have been alright. But the story does illustrate nobody knows exactly who were are after -I had dreamed that having Cisse, Bony and PEA in the team would get us loads of wins.

News from Holland this morning, not sure if this has made headlines in UK?
Stoke City have signed Erik Pieters from PSV for 3,5 Mil on a four year contract.
Pieters was for a long time, one of our targets.
Like i said on here the other day, the rest are all busy on the Transfer market, we appear to be doing cock-all !
All you hear from is rumours and Bullshit! Nothing Concrete ?

Comment #34EXPAT…that doesn’t mean nothing is happening.
…they have said before nothing will really happen before July; lets see if anything happens next week. But don’t expect too much mate – I don’t think we will sign that many players.
Just hoping a CB and a Forward is a priority; then we will see who’s leaving and what else we need.

Comment #35Why is his score count so low? Does he have many assists? If he is a holding striker then that would work very well with Cisse. Still if the prick says we are too small for him then he can go jump.

Comment #38morning guys how are we,still full of hope and promise regarding pea.or has this saga got the luuk de jong story written all over it again.
I see stories all over the tabloids this morning are that everton are in for pea now as well !!
if we were to lose out on pea-bony to Swansea-carroll to west ham,no siem de jong or belhana, cabaye sold to Monaco and we end up with the likes of bent and Tomkins.would you all agree that mashley as shown his aspirations for the toon
on the other hand we sign pea-de jong ect.what would all the Kinnear bashers think then ????
I see Liverpool have made tentative enquiries regarding sackho
