There was a report in the Daily Mirror over a week ago that Newcastle were willing to give Steven Taylor and £6M to get QPR’s Loic Remy.
Steven Taylor – going nowhere this summer
Now we wouldn’t put it past Harry Redknapp to ask for that deal, but there’s just no way Newcastle would let one of their two starting center-backs leave Newcastle so we get Remy into the club.
And there is news today in the local papers that Alan Pardew has no intention of letting Steven Taylor leave the club, and remember that late last season Alan was pushing for Taylor to be included ion the England squad.
And Steven made the squad but didn’t pick up his first full cap for England in the March World Cup qualifying games for Group H at San Marino (won 8-0) and Montenegro (drew 1-1).
And Newcastle need to keep some local home-grown players at the club, and that’s especially true since we seem to be losing a number of our English players this summer.
Danny Simpson has left for QPR, James Perch has signed on at Wigan and Steve Harper is having a medical at Hull City today,
Dan Gosling – Newcastle holding out for bigger fee
And it looks likely that 23 year-old Dan Gosling will sign on at Crystal Palace, but Newcastle are said to be holding out for a bigger fee from the newly promoted London club.
Newcastle agreed a £8M fee for Remy in January, so we’re not sure why there’s a delay in putting in a bid for the French International striker, since Alan Pardew has told the world that we are after both Remy and Aston Villa striker Darren Bent.
The saga to bring in a new striker this summer could continue for a while yet, but there’s no way we are going to lose one of our best defenders this summer.
What do you think?

Comment #82signing him on loan, won’t help us if he is sent down, until the next transfer window anyway, in which case we’d have to endure this same unbearable purgatory all over again.

Remy has four years left on his contract. If he goes down, and he course he is innocent until proven guilty, so it is a big IF, then he’s unlikely to get out in that time. But if he did, then what physical and mental state would he be in? Up to playing games at the highest level, no way.
As I said, he has not been convicted, nor even officially charged of rape. But why would a club take that risk?
The only way to avoid the financial risk is to take him on loan, with an agreement to buy later, if all charges are dropped.

Comment #84Well guys the bottom line we should be thanking Torq for his contribution and snippets of info.
We must remember nothing in football is 100% until the signing is unveiled so the harsh treatment for both Remy and JK appointment is nothing to do with Torq.
He simply states what he has heard in what seems to be a reliable field. It is up to us how we choose to process and use that information.
Just because we are in talks with Remy and De Jong it does not mean we will sign them, it is simply talking nothing more.
Those who twist it into something other than that, then blame Torq for kindly sharing information are the reason he is reluctant to let us know what he does these days.
And that is unfortunate because its the minority that spoils it for the rest of us!

Comment #86@75 Belfast. Good idea. Trouble is Wages. I can’t see NUFC paying the wages QPR are paying Remy, and we know that’s exactly the reason why he changed his mind at the last minute to sign for QPR……. it’s could be a big stumbling block.

Comment #87tads…really was a bad buy no doubt about that.
…maybe Pardew should just accept that and move him on. For me there are alot of other players who have had time enough to impress:
– Willo, Gos, Ameobi, Tav and young Ameobi and Fergy.
Some need to go and others would benifit from a loan deal.
Does anybody know what’s the situation regarding both Abeid and Alfi?

Comment #93I still think if the only deals we do this summer are a good 20 goal a season striker and a good left sided player we will be a decent team.
Obviously a few more in for depth but we are covered to a good enough level.

Comment #94The only way we could incorporate Marveaux and Ben Arfa in the same team, using our current team is 4-3-3.
——————— Krul ———————-
Debuchy – Mbiwa – Coloccini – Santon
—————————————————
—— Cabaye — Tiote — Sissoko ———
—————————————————
Ben Arfa ——- Cisse ——— Marveuax
That would be a pretty hard working, creative team!
I any signing would have to be amazing to be in it.
I mean I want Remy/De Jong but where do they fit? If Marv is on form, he is every bit as creative and dangerous as Ben Arfa so its arguable to say why should Remy slot in.
De Jong is more central attacking, and could arguably provide a better threat for the style we have than Cisse does.
But seriously loving the look of that team!
Still missing likes of Anita, STaylor, Gouffran who are all decent back ups if nothing else.

i like that team, id take anita over tiote i think off last season form.
i’d not want marv out wide or on the pitch…5 mins out of 90 where he does something isnt enough.
i’d prefer a different striker to cisse too…or at least and equal to push him.

Barton signed for Newcastle on 14 June 2007, and this followed protracted arguments about a £300,000 pay off he claimed to be entitled to from City, because he didn’t submit a written transfer request. So negotiations following NUFC triggering his contract clause started weeks before, immediately following the end of the season and appointment of Allerdyce by Shepherd.
While the contract details were being sorted out (resulting in NUFC effectively paying Barton’s bonus) this was going on:
“In 2007, businessman Mike Ashley purchased the combined stakes of both Douglas and John Hall, 41% share in the club, through a holding company St James Holdings, with a view to buy the rest.[69] Upon purchasing this share he appointed Chris Mort as chairman, while gaining more shares, owning 93.19% of the club by 29 June 2007.[70] This figure reached 95% on 11 July 2007, forcing the remaining shareholders to sell their shares”

Remy would be on 47/3 bail which wouldn’t have any restrictions on travel or movement.
If he was charged then he could have conditions set by police and later the courts after appearing.
These things can take a long time to resolve and it will be for the CPS to make the charging decisions

People get far to worked up over ITK….who cares if they are honest or liars..people should just take everything with a pinch of salt. Its a football blog, hardly anything to get worried about really, not sure why people get themselves so annoyed.
I bet even Ashley was sure the Remy deal was done until QPR stepped in…nothing is ever final in football until contracts are signed.

MA had bought the 41.6% of the club on May 23rd and by the 7th June Shepard agreed to sell him his 28%. I’m pretty certain any player being brought in at this time would of been put passed MA.

Been reading without posting for almost a week, due to boring repetitive subject matter. During this time i have noticed that one person seems to be allowed to abuse, insult and be generally mean to people on here, then pass it off as “his opinion”. Furthermore it seems to be prohibited to defend oneself against this due to this persons past ill health. I find this unacceptabale behaviour, i have to say.

Was a lack of options up front and no real service from the wings.
It is clear for everyone to see we need two more good strikers as Shola might have a few decent games a season as an impact player
Campbell isn’t ready and pardew plays Gouffran on the wing.
NUFC always look to lower any fees which is okay but not all of the time as we need players in before the pre season friendlies
Need to slash some of that cash on 4/5 good players
