Ben Arfa produced some of his magic late in the game today to get the all important goal that gave Newcastle all 3 points against Fulham, and it came after 86 minutes, but the French maestro had already set up great chances late in the game for both Yoan Gouffran and Papiss Cisse, but they couldn’t get their headers on target, although Cisse’s effort thudded against the cross-bar.
Ben Arfa – after getting the all important goal
The win was just what Newcastle needed, and the lads even played well – make that very well – in the second half and fully deserved their win.
This is what Ben Arfa told Sky Sports immediately after the game:
“It was a good goal. I was trying all second half to score because we needed the win today. I was trying a lot of shots. I’m not sure how but I just hit it and I scored so I’m very happy.”
“If we didn’t score today we wouldn’t have been able to sleep tonight. We’ve been trying and trying, and today we finally got the goal.” “We’re very happy today. If we hadn’t won or scored today we would have had two very bad weeks.”
Ben Arfa was certainly trying hard, just as he had last Saturday against West Ham, but this time he had a few magical moments – and the goal was another great one from the 26 year-old.
With performances and goals like this – it is small wonder that Ben Arfa is a huge favorite on Tyneside – and to think he forced a move to Newcastle three years ago – because it was the club he wanted to join.
There’s something very good about that. 😀
An excellent win by our lads today – and maybe we are better than we think we are.
Could be.
Hope so.

Comment #2We’d have been 3 or 4 up had he have released the ball instead of taking some of those shots. Seriously.

Comment #10May seem like a barking mad idea.
I don’t have much faith in Pardew & his team’s coaching methods. I’d personally have Peter Beardsley coach Hatem Ben Arfa on a one to one basis for period of the week.
Talk of Ben Arfa being world class is nonsense. Beardsley was just that, back in his day, and in a very similar role to Ben Arfa – he nearly always new when to release the ball and when to take a pot at goal.
If he could raise Ben Arfas game by 10% we’d be on to a winner. Mind you, it would be more than likely that the current regime would see him as a saleable asset.

So we only won because Fulham were cr@p.
No, we won because Pardew made the right substitutions and HBA scored a great goal during a period when we were totally dominant.
I couldn’t care less how cr@p the other team are as long as we beat em. And neither should you.
