Tim Krul has been struggling with a groin strain all week, and it now seems unlikely that Tim will be able to play against Fulham today, and Rob Elliot, who had a good game on Wednesday night at Morecambe in the 2-0 win, will likely start in goal.
Rob Elliot – likely to start today
Jak Alnwick was on the bench at Morecambe as Tim was receiving treatment for his groin injury, and we don’t know if Tim will make the bench today – probably not.
Rob Elliot is one of the most improved players at Newcastle from this time last year, and he now looks to be a bargain buy for Newcastle, when he was brought in from Charlton Athletic two years ago.
This is what manager Pardew had to say about his deputy goalkeeper:
“When Rob was at Charlton we got him under the radar for nothing really for a Premier League player.” “He looked a bit nervous on his debut that night at Nottingham Forest two years ago but we had such faith in him and he’s repaid that faith, actually more so.”
” He’s not just pushing Tim but he’s a Premier League goalie by anyone’s game.” “Fair play to him that was a real good bit of business on our part.” “He’s a cracking lad and he’s very comfortable on the ball; it’s only when the group really accept you that you can be like that.”
Rob has become a good goalkeeper at Newcastle, and with his solid performances in the Newcastle goal, the former Charlton Athletic goalkeeper will keep Tim Krul on his toes this season.

Ruddy, you said earlier FansUTD meeting is Thursday but it’s actually Wednesday with Mike Ashley Out Campaign meeting Thursday evening 😉
Going to be a busy week starting from tomorrow. I think Krul will be a miss but maybe we will atack so much Elliot will have a quiet game.
I’ve noticed the support for Ashley has died down on this blog and support from the likes of FatmanJoe, TDarnSarf and others becoming more and more isolated.

Comment #8Rob Elliot is no mug and will give 110% to the cause – of that there is just no doubt.
The problems largely lie with the Illustrious Owner who just does not understand what this football club actually means to the North East. He simply has NO concept of what this club means to its supporters and fans, wherever scattered over this little planet of ours. I can only speak for me; having supported the club of my birth since I was able to pull on the first stripey shirt at about 5 years old – probably about 1960 – My Dad was a fan lol.
I have followed this club for over 50 years, while working in Ascension Island; Saudi, Dubai; Abu Dhabi; Jordan; Japan; East Germany; Hong Kong and now Nigeria. There is just NO other club I could possibly support. It’s in the blood.
Unfortunately, our owner, Mr Mike Ashley, just does not understand exactly what he has bought.
He THINKS he has simply bought a football club!! Just how WRONG could he possibly be?? He cannot comprehend that he is now the custodian of the dreams and aspirations of more than 100,000 people in the North East. NUFC is not simply a footy club – it never has been; it never will be.
It is something we live; sleep; breathe; take immense pride in. At the end of the day, no matter who the owner may be – NUFC is, quite simply, OUR club. Always has been, always will be. Mr Ashley – cut your losses. Sell up. Go buy a stake in your own club – Spurs, according to rumour. You will be so much happier.

No, seriously, I said I wanted to see how we did in the transfer window and early matches. If we don’t get in at least one striker and replace Cabaye if he goes, then it will make a mockery of the JFK appointment.

Sorry for the late reply. Wouldn’t Southampton have tied up Osvaldo weeks ago? What about Wanyama, that dragged along? They can afford to delay their transfers. I believe they wanted to see how the first couple games went to identify where the weaknesses were. Southampton literally have nothing

As for waiting…… that is of course your call, some made their minds up months even years ago about this regime.

The problem is that some fans will never forgive him for his treatment of KK and Shearer. However, legends as they are, I’m not willing to cut my nose off to spite my club and I’m more interested in what he is doing now and what he will be doing.
I can understand if he wants to take some more money out before he is able to sell the club, and I know the club is on a better footing than it has been for many years, but we can’t just support another club for a few years…we all want to see at least one more proper signing this summer.
A Gomis type striker is the minimum for me, as would be replacing Cabaye. Anything else is a significant failure by JFK and therefore also by MA.
All Pardew can do is beat Fulham please…

I will be at the Irish centre on Wednesday night, the ball simply has to get rolling, how can anybody be happy with the way things are.
TDsarf,
Sure Mashley want’s his money back, but don’t you think he should take some responsibility for us going down and adding 40/50M to that debt and the 30+M he has cost us in revenue each year by being associated with S.D?

Comment #26Been in constant contact with the likes of Fansutd over recent weeks and they do not want to rock the boat now that they have dialogue with the club so don’t expect too many answers. Might be a rowdy one depending on the outcome of the transfer window or might end up being a damp squid.

Comment #29This is what Maoc posted on their FB other day, I’m going along to see what they have in mind:
We invite fans who want to get involved in organising and coordinating peaceful and meaningful protest against the Ashley regime to attend a meeting arranged for Thursday 5th September, Percy Arms, Percy Street, Newcastle (upstairs) between 7.30 and 9.00 pm.
Certain members of the MAOC committee will be there to discuss a way forward in organising a sustained effort to show fan solidarity in opposition to the Ashley regime. We are NOT debating whether we should protest, but what form the action WILL take.
Your ideas will prove valuable in developing and building upon certain projects we have been working on and which we hope to announce in the near future. If you wish to attend please let us know and we will add your name to the guest list. Due to restricted seating we can not guarentee entrance without prior notification.
Thanks again for your continued support.
MaoC

Fansutd are great at talking and to their credit have acheived some objectives but protests aren’t really their aims. This group have atracted some following and looking for options. Sure all will become clearer if you make it on Wednesday but I think Thursday will be more constructive.

Comment #38Erikson to Spurs ! He would of been a perfect replacement for Cabaye who i think will be gone come monday?
Also reported this morning is that Tony Alderweirld is in Madrid and on the verge of signing a contract with Athletico Madrid so there goes another of our targets!
No transfer sum was mentioned but the player only needs to have his medical !
Seriously think we will be in the brown stuff come six-o-clock this evening, whats the betting Bent scores the winner against us today?

Comment #40Today I expect to walk out 10minutes from the end, its unfortunate but this is going to be the day to end all bad days under our shite manager and disgraceful owner, I can see it being just so disappointing, fans are going to be spewing bile from the time the teamsheet with Shola and Cabaye selected (No Anita), up to the point were Pardew subs Cisse, when we are already getting beat and haven’t had one shot on target.
Pardew will blame the fans today for the loss, I can feel it in my bones, started yesterday in his Sky interview and will continue his excuses today.
