Gateshead manager Gary Mills is hoping that he can get a few of the Newcastle youngsters on loan at Gateshead in the next couple of weeks, before the local deadline rolls around.
Adam Campbell – needs to play first team games
Some of our younger players like Adam Campbell, James Tavernier, Gael Bigirimana, Remie Streete and Curtis Good need to be playing regular football this season,
And the Newcastle – Gateshead partnership is a good one with Paul Dummett, James Tavernier and Jak Alnwick all having successful loan spells over the river.
Gar Mills is keen to see that partnership continue as he said this in the local press today:
“Make no mistake, we’re tucked away up here in the North East and it can be hard to get players to come.” “So it’s a strength, to me, to have Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough close by.”
“Without mentioning names, we have tried to get a couple of players from the big teams up here. It’s not happened so far but they’ve not ruled it out, absolutely not.”
“You have to be very careful about which players you do bring in, you have to get the right ones.” “We can’t get carried away just because it’s Newcastle, it’s Sunderland, it’s Middlesbrough, and think their players must be better than what we’ve got here, because that’s not always the case.”
“But if you get the right ones, as much as they can be good for us, I think they have to realize how good we can be for them as well.” “I know Peter Beardsley knows how good this level is, and how I like my teams to play.”
“That’s why he likes players to come and play for my teams, because we do it the right way.”
Newcastle currently have Shane Ferguson (Birmingham), Conor Newton (St. Mirren), Mehdi Abeid (Panathinaikos) and Romain Amalfitano (Dijon) out on loan.
Players who could make the move on loan to Gateshead could be 18 year olds Adam Campbell and Remie Streete, although we’re sure Gateshead would love to get 20 year-old Curtis Good playing for them too.
16 year-old local lad Adam Armstrong could also be fast-tracked with a loan stint at Gateshead this season.
Comments welcome.

The NUST made it clear in all statements they reserved the right to release the minutes, if NUFC missed the deadline to releases them on there website then that’s the unprofessional part
Why do all parties need to agree on the contents released, there the minutes not a press release, so the only reason the PR department have to be upset is because they wanted them edited, otherwise if they were releasing the full minutes they would be a carbon copy
Sorry but it feels very much like your deflecting blame when there is none to be deflected
