Football Direct News is reporting today that Newcastle United could try to sign Demba Ba from Chelsea in the summer, if – as looks likely – the club is unsuccessful in getting Loic Remy to sign a permanent deal at the club, after his season-long loan spell.
Demba Ba – while at Newcastle
Newcastle will be losing maybe all four of their strikers this summer, Loic Remy, Shola Ameobi, Papiss Cisse and Luuk de Jong, so we are hoping that Alan Pardew, Graham Carr and others at Newcastle are lining up striker targets for the summer.
Since this report is in Mike Ashley’s Football Direct News, there may even be some truth in it – but there will be other clubs bigger than Newcastle after the Senegal striker this summer.
Ba joined Newcastle on a free transfer in the summer of 2011, and stayed 18 months before he signed on at Chelsea for £7.5M thirteen months ago, which was the release clause amount in his Newcastle contract.
And while at Newcastle he was super successful and scored 29 goals in 58 appearances for the Tyneside club, and was extremely popular with the fans.
If Newcastle can sign his in the summer that would be great, but we have our doubts as to whether Ba will want to return to a club he has already played for.
And Ba may want to join a Champions League club – like most top players want to do these days – and that’s not Newcastle.
What do you think?

no one claimed he he was world class, no one blamed him for the 5 losses
but it seems he has been singled out by pardew for some reason,
my point about the 5 losses is, maybe , pardew should look at the players playing 90 minutes of football for him week after week,
even shola above should take a bigger part of the blame than marv, after all he is a good influence in the dressing room,
shocking,
tads, come on, wake up

Exactly!
The main point I’ve been trying to make, the players that have apparently been “Pardewed” have never actually been consistent or top players to the extent we hype them at any stage of there careers
HBA and Marv are no different to say Taarabt loads of promise and hype but have never put it together in a full package
Even with Cisse, when he left Freiburg there were several articles written saying that despite his goals the team on the whole were better and played with more freedom without him as when not scoring he offered………. Yup you guessed it!

Comment #14I would say that, despite that “assists” stat, Marveaux has probably created more chances for OPPOSING teams through lazyness and giving the ball away, then he has for us.

Comment #15Jeff….you don’t like it? Don’t come on here, in fact with your attitude you’re not welcome here. What is more, read Ed’s Biog, he is a Geordie and frankly he could be from Mars as long as he supports the same team we all do. You saying that someone from London isn’t allowed to support Newcastle because they’re not a Geordie?

Singled him out? How? Back that up mate, every player has come and said they have had strips torn into them the last few weeks
You have no idea what happens behind the scenes, see nothing of him in training so how do you he’s being singled out rather than being punished for his attitude, which if similar in training than to when on the pitch then he fully deserves to be punished
You say wake up, too what?
Haven’t got my eyes closed to anything mate, were a club with no MD, no DOF, shrinking back room staff, grossly out dated coaching staff and lost out star player with no replacement
The difference is you can’t see past your blind hatred, not one person here, despite your claims, is a “pardew apologist” but most can see the bigger picture

Exactly….the reason players with the skill level of HBA is with us and not the madrids, barca’s, man utds of this world is down to consistency and one of the main reasons the lad has never settled anywhere.
He is a decent player, nothing more, pardew is doing no worse with him than any previous manager.

If theres a march it shows him 1000 ppl, if its in the papers its just the journalist.
What have we done to show him that MOST fans dont like his ways. Its never been 30K doing something.

Comment #27With flair players, you are bound to get some inconsistencies, our flair olayers are no different.
Without Marveaux and his match saving passes, we would have been relegated. Even after the lad has provided product as well as playing well, he’s still benched.
He’s hardly played, Pardew doesn’t know how to use him, the team interlinking is shocking for the majority of the time in the final third. Teams let you pass it about in your third and the second third a lot of the time. Coaches and managers really excel when they implement passing and move in and around the opposition box.
We don’t do that.
If a good manager had him and the team could actually have some good coaching in the final third and Marveaux was still awful, I’d agree that he has to go.
With what I’ve seen at the matches it is far from concise play in the final third. Well away.
Hatem and Marveaux are waste products from a disgustingly poor offensive team. That is due to Pardew’s ineptitude and heart to heart with his love of dinosaur football. Keeping the ball on the floor a bit more this year doesn’t mean he knows how to play football by pass and move, it just means he’s playing less hoofballs. He still has no clue how to use the team offensively.

Fully agree and fully agree that saying that doesn’t mean your giving backing to pardew!
I’ve always said he has enough faults without the need to invent them
Sadly the state of the club is getting almost beyond repair
I said January was a huge window for us, much bigger than it’s was being credited for, and the club failed massively
Look at the work to do in the summer now, a full rebuild of the squad as well as a rebuild of the board and back room staff plus finding a new academy coach
It’s ridiculous to simply say it’s all Pardews fault imho

I have little doubt these lads might do better under a manager more suited to their skills, somebody who likes that type of player….but I think they need to work with the manager and look to deliver what is being asked.
Take Mourinho at chelsea….Hazard has bought into his hard work philosophy. Mata didn’t. Mata was the player of the season the last 2 years, mourinho has sold him and the team are doing much better….not directly linked to Mata going but he has shown that without hardwork you don’t get in his side no matter how good.
If Pardew had sold somebody like mata people would slate him, mourinho does it and it’s genius.

Comment #35It appears that Mr Tubbs website -recently re-named football news direct -has slightly increased it’s stories about NUFC over the last few days. will be interesting to monitor over the next few days. I now will not go onto the site -so as not to increase their “hits”.
I wonder if the re-naming -ie removing Sportsdirect is to try to give the impression it’s a quality news source -but it’s still the same outfit.
just been on Sky News that SD has increased it’s profits by 11% over the last three months. Well it seems they are doing very nicely at the moment -the same cannot be said for NUFC.

Comment #36I think our flair player would be able to show their abilities better if we had better players around them. If HBA was at Barcelona he would be great, but only because the Barcelona team play for each other and going forward they pull the defenders all over opening up gaps in the defence that the likes of Messi and Neymar exploit, Benny could also exploit those gaps. We never pull a defence apart, we just try to run through the middle of it or shoot from range.

5 years at Rennes
Only 102 games
Only 16 goals, 10 of those in the 09/10 season, the only season he had a big role in during his 5 years
Has only ever managed up to 6 assists a season throughout his career
The lads plight has nout to do with Pardew, he’s never stepped up

Comment #39Ben Arfa was a lot younger at his other clubs. Anelka calmed down somewhat as he’s got older.
A poor manager makes good players underperform both individually and as a team.
Step forward Alan Pardew and your career long underperforming.
Since Tevez was misused on the wing and not played by the silver tongued one, he’s been at Man Utd and Man City and Juve. He consistently misuses players.
Put Ben Arfa in Kevin Keegan’s team or Sir Bobby’s and he’d be a joy to watch in my opinion. He would be used to his strengths. Marveaux would look a lot better too.
Thriving in a positive team is far better than in being relied upon in a containing team where bodies don’t move or get forward as they should.

Comment #40And so everyone knows, the reason I know he is a manure is because of his ad complaints previously. He let slip he was getting adverts for Man Utd kits all the time and when I told him about the cookie prefs thing he said its because he ‘likes all football’ or some other lame rubbish. Makes sense when you read his comments.
