Luuk De Jong Looking Better And Better – Pardew

Alan Pardew held his press conference today for the tough game at Hull City on Saturday, and near the end he was asked if Luuk de Jong’s performances would decide whether Newcastle would sign him permanently in the summer.

Luuk de Jong – looking better and better

It seemed a bit of a dumb question, but Alan answered it well, and revealed the Dutch striker is finding his feet in training on Tyneside, and looking better and better:

“I think that would make sense that he needs to make a success of his last ten games and he’s had a good start.”

“I think he came into the team when unfortunately we had just lost Cabaye, and we lost a couple of games and no Remy, and it was difficult for him.”

“But he’s finding his feet in training – and he’s looking better and better, and hopefully he can have a big impact before the end.”

And Luuk did well when he came on against Aston Villa and her brilliantly set up Loic Remy with a great piece of play and Loic hit the post, but it was a wide open goal and the French striker should have done better.

But then a few minutes later,  de Jong was again  involved, as his shot in the penalty area was deflected high in the air, to Remy who then gave an exhibition over a few seconds of how to beat two men in the penalty area,  before you smash the ball into the back of the net for the winning goal, with a minute to go in added time.

And of course Newcastle got a fantastic 3 points.

And Alan also said he would probably give young Adam Armstrong his first team debut before the end of the season, and that another Academy product, Sammy Ameobi, would have a big part to play through the end of the season.

Will be interesting to see if we do get players in,we certainly need to.
LDJ looks good up front, strong, quick(not even fully match fit for PL) and some good feet.
Benfica have some decent players,I reckon we should be looking at the Spanish and Italian market although often expensive but there’s a lot of unearthed quality players around.
Would help us a lot if some of our defenders could score a few every season,we still look pathetic at corners, good deliveries at times but never look like scoring

Ah right to be fair he’s out if our league anyway. Menez though would set us on fire I think. Him and Cabella either side of siem and luuk I’ll have some of that lol. Not sure on Ben Arfa being his mate.

I think our transfer policy clearly has been that if a decent player becomes available at the right price then well buy them and try to fit them into the team even if they are not really bought to order. It doesn’t follow that because there’s money in the bank we’ll start changing our approach. There’s always been money, the owners swimming in it.

On the other, hand he won’t let us flounder either, so yeah, I think there will be signings and I think the club really wants to build a better side, but there’s no guarantees in life, certainly nothing worth having from anything connected to the likes of SD and Wonga.

Nice one, Alan. Maybe you can set up the team to revolve around making good chances for the striker in the box for once. Judging by what is the norm, probably not then.

I’d definitely take Gylfi from spurs and on that note i was a little dissapointed we didnt try to hijack Holtby’s loan move to Fulham. Really like Holtby and think we should make a move for him, or Gylfi or even both!

what’s the point of signing anyone when we have Pardew at the helm?

first sack Pardew then purchase some players.

if I’m honest I rather see Pardew getting the sack rather than Newcastle signing anyone in the summer

HBA is being wasted with that numbnuts being our manager, I don’t rate Marv at all never have done he’s just another fringe player that needs to be sold on ASAP.

Marv gets about 35-45k a week we could use that on better players

I think were only allowed 2 loans might be wrong

but I do think we should have just bought holtby
he cost spurs a couple of mill so 5 for a player they don’t need

where was that gylfi before spurs he was pretty good and not been to bad for spurs

Is it not that Pardew doesn’t know how to accommodate creative players?

Cabaye flourished due to his passing ability but more often than not he was playing very deep spraying balls around.

Its been said loads Pardew can’t get the best from his players. He is rigid in his tactics and game plan and if you don’t buy into it as a player you are dropped. So many first teamers just seem to be going with the flow.

As a manager he is so inconsistent we alternate between Challenging for Europe form and Relegation form. Ive said he’s rigid in his tactics above but is it more than that when he’s got a fit squad we can go on a good run but when he has to change it he loses the plot?

I agree with you, Pardew is a defensive manager who relies on the creative players too heavily and when they don’t deliver, out they go.

If we fail to get top 10 with the start he has had, there is little to no excuse. Injuries have been minimal, ill discipline has been an issue and he has not been able to be consistent. He peaks then when we fall, its big losses and points dropped against relegation teams i.e Sunderland for example! I hope, that the new MD/DoF has the balls to get rid of him. If we need to rebuild, the whole lot needs to change.
I say bring in Laudrup, AVB or Sherwood, and lets get a squad worthy of pushing on. I have no doubt that MA has no choice but to spend the profits on the squad, he has nothing to hide behind anymore, or he will sell, which presents a good and bad scenario.

I Personally would bring in the following Players:

    L De Jong – Permanent
    R Cabella – 10m
    A Lallana – 8m
    G Grenier – 12m
    B Gomis – Free
    A Hunt – Free

    P Cisse – 6m
    L Remy – Release
    Sh Ameobi – Release
    G Obertan – 0.5k
    S Marveaux – 2m
    J Guti – 2m

    Bring Through:
    C Good
    A Campbell
    M Abeid

I think with a new Manager, the perspective of some of our returning loan players will hopefully mean we can actually get a grasp of whether these kids are any good.

Consider also the wage bill, a lot of the players leaving are on excellent money, and the new players in would not be excessive wages, possibly Gomis, Grenier and Lallana would command 50k+ wages.
