Shola Ameobi may yet get a new contract at Newcastle this summer, but we’d be very surprised if he does – but there seems to be no doubt that Shola has become a leader in the dressing room at Newcastle, and we heard yesterday that some senior officials at Newcastle want him to stay on at the club.
Shola Ameobi – plain talking
And in a good interview with the Chronicle, Shola has come out and done some plain talking – which is always good to see.
This is what Shola said:
“We have limited resources at the moment and when we lose one or two key players it hurts the team badly.” “That is what the manager has had to put up with, unfortunately.”
“That is something the club have to put right for next season.” “We need quality players and we need a quality squad as well.”
“This has all been brought out to a lot of people but we, as players, knew that. I think the fans are getting to see that now.”
If Alan Pardew does get fired at the end of the season, he can point to a couple of things that have not helped Newcastle.
One is the owner selling our best player Yohan Cabaye in January – so Mike weakened the team for the run-in.
Somebody needs to remind the owner the transfer windows should be used to strengthen the team – not weaken it.
The other thing is that in the last two transfer windows Joe Kinnear was unable to bring in any player permanently, and as Shola says above – at least the players knew the squad needed some reinforcements.
In a way, you could even say that Shola Ameobi is defending Alan Pardew in that statement above, and that the ineptitude of Joe Kinnear could even flow over and become responsible for Alan Pardew being fired.
But it’s not at all clear to us what Mike Ashley is thinking, in terms of Alan Pardew’s future at the club.
What do you think?

Comment #2Ashley’s got a Dogwhistle with pardew’s name on it.
He blows it below human hearing and Pardew runs for his dog food stamped in to casino Chips.
But don’t balme the Soldier — blame the General!
Fish rots from the head down!

Yes, Ashley has eft Pardew under equipped. But if Pards is the soldier, and Ashley the General, then Ashley has given Pards a rifle and 6 bullets telling him to hit 10 targets. Obviously this is impossible, but Pardew would fail to hit more than 2 of them with his 6 bullets.
Just because one of them has done a bad job, doesn’t mean that the other can’t be held accountable for failing to get the most out of what he has got.

Comment #5Shola’s wrong to say that Pardew has to put up with it, the game is littered with managers who have quit their jobs for that very reason, Pardew must grow some balls and do the same

Comment #6We all know the problems at Newcastle stem from the owner and will continue to be that way until he either allows money to be spent on quality new players or sells up and moves on, preferably the latter !

Shola is just doing his best to suck off Pardew for a contract extension. Then Pardew will do the same and suck off Ashley to stay and offer shola a contract.
Quiet frankly, it aint happening and never will.

Comment #9If we want to see some changes, perhaps we need to lose all our remaining games. Preferably an empty St James Park when Cardiff visits to send home the message to Ashley. We still haven’t signed a striker to replace Demba Ba!

A natural coach would be more than capable of delivering more with what we have then Pardew is. It will never be fighting for titles under Ashley, but just a top coach and tactician could at least give us something to smile about at the weekend through goals, good football, and wins here and there.
No fan (well, not many) expect us to be winning all trophies before us if we get rid of Pards and Ashley stays, but wouldn’t it be nice just to enjoy watching the match again and actually seeing football, rather than this muck that is served up to us on a regular basis?
We all know Ashley is a major problem, but we can be better, even with what we currently have, then is being demonstrated at the moment.

Comment #11Parsnips massive ego won’t let him quit because as far as he sees it we are missing key players and had our best player sold with no replacement
The sad part about this is that he believes we played well when they were in the team!
Shola thinks the fans are getting to see that now? We’ve seen the need for reinforcements for about 2-3 years now
The underlying problem with this club is the owner, who clearly does not give a shyt and doesn’t care what we or anybody else thinks. So in reality, as long as,he is here parsnip is going nowhere

Comment #12Desperate and angling for attention.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united/10783488/David-Moyes-in-the-frame-for-Newcastle-United-job-if-Alan-Pardew-is-sacked.html
Moyes is not coming here end of.
He got paid £4m a year at Everton which made him hold onto his job for many years and adapts same style as Pardew in terms of setting the team up and tactics.
Also Mike is not stupid enough to not see what happened at Man U and failing to motivate players.
Moyes is good for a team like Villa or Norwich.
We should be aiming for a European manager.
The likes of diego simeone and reme girade get paid below £2.3m and work wonderfully under very tight financial restrictions.
They get most out of technical flair players and from youth.
So no doubt I believe we will go down that route when that cockney clown gets sacked.

Comment #14Is the squad that thin? I remember matches when we had Taylor, MYM, HBA, Cisse on the bench. We’ve only sold Cabs, where has this void come from?

Comment #151) Shola AMeobi is not loyal, the only reason he is at nufc is that OTHER CLUB DONT WANT HIM.
2) Keeping shola ameobi show the club dont have any ambition. the slot should be given to a younger player who can shine i.e Armstrong, Campbell etc
3) Shola is a leader? leader of SH*T.
4) Stop saying he is a mackem slayer, he will never ever score against mackem
5) If u remember, since shola ameobi is introduce to nufc, the club is going backwards. coincidence? i dont think so
6) my personal opinion is simple. get rid of Shola Sh*t AMeobi = we will win something
Get rid of Shola for the love of the club!
