The Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has again called on the fans who will be at the game tomorrow, not to walk out on the team after 69 minutes – as a demonstration against where the club is headed (nowhere) – as some fan organizations are asking for, and instead the beleaguered manager is asking the fans to stay and support the team and especially the players – hopefully to our first win in seven games.
Alan Pardew – please support the players – if not me
Alan Pardew seems to be trying to get the message out in the press and he is imploring fans to not take part in the the walk-out.
This is what Alan said:
“I just think the club has to come first sometimes and I think that is an occasion where this has to happen,” “The passion of the fans towards the club needs to come out because the team needs them.”
“It’s not about the board or me, it’s about 11 players wearing the black and white of Newcastle at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. You’re going to walk away after an hour and leave them to it? I don’t think that’s right and I really, really hope they don’t do that.”
“I haven’t spoken to the owner for two or three weeks,” “He owns this club with the confidence to let the manager get on with managing the team. That is what he has always said to me.”
It’s not really surprising that Alan has not talked to the owner, he’s never had a lot of communications with him, and it’s usually the Managing Director who has a direct line – so to speak – to tAshley about stuff going on – and on the operational state of things.
But it does show that Pardew doesn’t have much of an idea what Ashley is thinking about this losing streak – and the news is Ashley is not happy.
That’s not surprising either.
Nobody is happy about it – the first time we have been beaten six times in a row in the Premier League.
And the basic message from Pardew above seems to be – please support the fans if you cannot support me.
What do you think?
Comments welcome.

Comment #1Although I can understand Beattie’s frustration – I think slagging off the fans is not a clever move on a Toon blog – but then he got loads of support for it on here. Not from me though. Protest – yes, slag the fanns off – no. It is the only think that unites us is support for the Toon.
There is a classic problem for a large audience in protesting about anything in an organised manner – unless there is co-ordinated and strong leadership it cannot happen. And there simply is no established leadership of a fan revolt at SJP. Certainly not from NUST. So it cannot really matter when you walk out at all – what does matter is that people really do make the protest. Banners in the ground or walking out – still a protest. Still visible = still effective.
The great co-ordinated walkout is highly unlikely to work – but if enough folk go prettty much at any time in the second half and the ground is clearly emptying then the point will be made anway. If the idea of the protest has already got AP doing some PR on behalf of his boss then they must be worried. That is a good start. Being ignored would not be.
Maybe I’m naive about this and am missing some great political point about NUFC agitprop, but then I think Pardew is already toast and will be gone after the Fools put ten past us to win the league on goal difference. Wonder if Ashley will have a wee spread bet on that one ?
Talk about losing the thread….

Beattie outlined his position perfectly today.
He no longer cares.
“Oh, Vanya, I’m, so BORED!.
Missing in action for a year
Fiddling with his ennui somewhere.
Who gives a toss what he thinks?

Comment #3Desperate pleas from a desperate man – he knows full well that if the walkout happens Ashley will have to seriously consider whether or not to retain Pardew’s services for next season. It seems he’s lost some of the dressing room, if he loses the fans as well he’s a gonna.

Comment #5Pardew is really ramping up the importance of this game. After our results and performances this year this single game matters very little…
YES the club comes first… For the greater good of the club it’s worth sacrificing support in one meaningless game, to demonstrate to the world we all want you out.
When he’s pleading for the fans to stay he’s not doing it for the team, he’s doing it for his own image.

Comment #7And I mentally walked out months ago anyway. Spotting Ashley owned businesses and boycotting them has just got too obsessive a pastime. D’ya think we could get another 50,000 or so to do it instead of watching black and white paint dry ?.

Comment #8P45DUE has had since Boxing Day to put the Club first, as has our Illustrious Owner.
If you put the Club first, you dont sell the best player at the end of the January Window and have no replacement lined up. Its called greed; Screwing the Fans; Removing Ambition.
If you put the Club first, you dont accept the selling of your star player, without so much as a wimper. You dont Headbutt opposing Players; You dont blame the subsequent, well deserved ban, on the Team plummeting down the form table – 6 losses and counting.
If you put the club first, you would realise you do not have what it takes to manage NUFC or the many good players at your disposal.
IF you seriously had any concern for the fans of NUFC, you would have resigned many weeks ago.
You, Mt Perdue are hanging in for your hoped for “Pay-off” You are here for the money, Pure & Simple. NUFC has nothing to do with it. Be Gone P45DUE

Comment #9Personally I would like to see a walk out
I think it sends a message that since Christmas, things have been unacceptable:
Not replacing Cabaye (I was okay with selling him), Pardew getting himself banned, players who don’t give a toss, appointing a novice to run the club etc etc.
Since there is nothing to play for and the players have not reciprocated the support with effort, I think it would not be a bad thing.

I think P45due knows no limits as to the depths he will sink to, to try and cover his own arse. How dare he question our loyalty, he knows like everyone in football knows Newcastle United fans love their team with unbridled passion and loyalty, always have always will. You see P45due,the club is in our blood part of our dna, like an extension of each and everyone of our own family.
You don’t want the fans to leave because you know the bad press will really get on fatties nipple ends,he’s allowed you to fumble your way through managing our club, damaging it along the way, but this bonny lad is bringing he true love, his only love SD into the equation. Negative media coverage, cameras panning round an emptying stadium, in the Premier League and moreso with all those Sports Direct advertising boards on show. I reckon fatty will burst your lips for you. Treat us with contempt, bullshit us,attempt to baffle us with your footballing genius, but don’t ever question our loyalty to NUFC. Odious prick.

Comment #12Stuff you Pardew. In the scheme of things winning this game (if that is possible) means nowt.
He’s obviously running scared and I’m sure Ashley isn’t too happy about the situation either.
Stuff Pardew, stuff Ashley and stuff the team that doesn’t seem to care as Supermac has said today.
Walk out lads – you know it makes sense.

Comment #13I’ve read 2 bullshit accounts saying Pardew brands the fans ‘disloyal’. I’ve read the quotes and nowhere does he say that.

I quote.”You’re going to walk away after an hour and leave them to it? I don’t think that’s right and I really, really hope they don’t do that.”
That questions loyalty towards the team, although the planned walkout has little if anything at all to do with the players.

Comment #15Pardew says support the team,
Fans say – Ashley support the fans, give us a manager and a team. We have neither.
