18 year-old Lubo Satka is one of three young players who were given contracts by Newcastle earlier this year, and the other two were goalkeeper Freddie Woodman and local lad Adam Armstrong, who has already made four appearances in the Newcastle first team.
Lubo Satka – top young center-back
Lubo is making very good progress through the ranks and he’s played 35 times for the Newcastle U21 side, and he’s impressed manager Alan Pardew with his calm confidence, and today he’s compared to a young Fabricio Coloccini – and that cannot be bad.
This is what Alan Pardew has said about Satka to the Shields Gazette today:
“Lubo is, for me, a player beyond his years – he’s very calm,” “If you were going to look at a young Coloccini, you’ve got to say that’s Lubo.”
“He’s so level-headed and technically good – he’s got a great chance for us. We’ve really got our fingers crossed for him.”
“This is only a first step on the career ladder for these boys.” “They must continue to show the same commitment and desire and will to learn as they have to this point.”
Lubo was signed in May two years ago from local club Dubnica in Slovakia, after captaining the Slovakian U17 side.
That’s a good last sentence by Alan, just in case the youngsters start to get carried away with themselves, because that always seems to be the first step in a downward spiral, and why some top young players never make the grade.
It will be interesting to see if Satka gets a chance in pre-season, and we can see just how good he looks.
It would be terrific if this lad can start to press for a place in the first team squad next season.
What do you think?

i think pardew can set up a team to play 4-3-3, what i think happened was he c0cked the formation up when we saw the arrival of cisse because for some stupid reason he thought that it would be better if cisse were to be put into the team and drop obatan.
what he should have did was remain with
__________guthrie tiote
obatan/HBA___cabaye__jonas
_________ba
because that way we have proper wide men playing out wide jonas and obatan might be rubbish but they are playing in their right positions.
but then he did the stupid decision of moving ba wide and putting cisse into the centre. now we were left with nothing creative and two strikers who would be angry for not being in the centre.
that is what i feel was the stupidest decision of all by pardew because if he had just stuck with the team we had and left cisse on the bench then we could have stood more chance of keeping ba and perhaps obatan would have become good.

Comment #5our best players imo worth keeping.
krull/woodman (i’d let krull go at right price if we was allowed to spend money on foster and woodman should be sniffing around 1st team experience if not sent on loan if possible)
lb;hairdryer/dummett (both good enough)
cb;colo/good/satka/mbiwa/willo (collo getting very slow about time the younger lads stepped into 1st team for experienceand saylors not my ideal choice)
rb;deb’s/santon(i dont care to me santon is a rb lol)
cm;tiote/anita/bigi/colback
rw;sissoko/arfa
lw;goofy/rolando
no10;siem/marv/perez

Wait what? It worked when we played Cisse as striker and Ba as winger. Then Pardew switched things up to make Ba happy and then Ba left anyway.

Comment #7To be honest, getting 12m for a 29-year-old fullback is not a bad deal especially we have replacements within the team itself.

ba played awsome as a striker then ok as a winger then aawsome as a striker again and he was wrongly moved onto the wing imo.
cisse was awsome striker in 2nd half of first season then has been rubbish ever since no matter what the formation ! hopefully he will hit form again though

Comment #9sazzer the point is if people are so hyper critical of pardew playing players out of position well that’s just what he did here becauese cisse and ba are both out and out strikers not widemen, as ba was the leading goal scorer at the time he should not have been moved over, yes it did seem to work but we didn’t know that at the time, so rather than disappoint ba, he should have just remain with the team as it is and bring cisse through slowly, that way we might have kept ba.
unfortuately instead he didn’t leave the team as it was meaning ba was now angered obatan would be certain to remain poor jonas was getting on and so we ended up having just 1 striker who was going off side and no decent creative wingers.
where as if it had remained as it was then cisse could have got himself moving into the team slowly, even ashley would know obatan is usless had he seen him continuing like he was for 1.5 seasons rather than just a half a season and as ba doesn’t have the excuse on being put wide so if he was looking to leave pardew could have used cisse as the main man rather than giving ba what he wanted.

all that was stopping me last season and the season before that was the owner but this season i’m expecting the owner to finally spend money and if he does spend the money and brings in 5 players including 2 strikers and 1 very good creative midfielder, i will not accept bad results from pardew because the season we finished 5th that as long as pardew has been given money to spend that summer he will manage to get a good finish.
