Get French Football News is reporting that Arsenal, Newcastle and Mathieu Debuchy have reached agreement on his transfer to Arsenal, and the announcement of the deal is imminent.
Mathieu Debuchy – agreement reached
The deal is said to be for an initial £10M plus bonuses that will amount to 2.5M depending on the number of games Debuchy plays for Arsenal.
That’s £2M more than initial reports which said the deal was for an initial £8M plus £2M in potential bonuses.
And since Mike Ashley wanted £12M for the player, if Debuchy does well at Arsenal Newcastle will receive £12.5M for a player we paid Lille £5.5M for 18 months ago – so if the news is accurate – that’s a good deal by any measurement.
Mathieu has agreed a four year deal – which is the time he had left on his five and a half year deal at Newcastle.
Newcastle have been linked with a number of top right backs in the last few weeks, with the favorite being Daryl Janmaat of Feyenoord, who is the current Dutch first choice right-back.
Mathieu played 46 times for Newcastle in his 18 months at the club, and was one of Newcastle’s best players last season.
We wish him the best of luck at Arsenal.
Written while on vacation in England.

Comment #123Well thats the worst half of football I have seen in a while .
Holland should be counter attacking not trying to pass it in to the net.

From much earlier, meant to ask, was Yanga in training?
All gone quiet on him and us trying to ship him out
Hope Pardew uses his seemingly only mate in football Mourinho and try’s to land Kalas on loan this season

Comment #129Lads, do you think we should start a whip round to get bladeuser some antidepressants? I’ve already written to Sunderland City council about it, requesting that they start putting prozac in the water supply, but they just sent me back a crayon drawing of Penshaw monument on the back of a dole letter.

I dont think so bud. As soon as a muted interest comes in from Chelski….10 mill automatically goes in the players head.

Comment #134Bye Mathieu, go be a disloyal, money chasing liability at Arsenal. Concede lots of penalties while you dream of being approached by PSG or Barca. No pride in the shirt son. Au Revoir

Comment #136Granted it’s from another tabloid but so is the story that we’ve bid again so believe what you will!
Newcastle remain hot on the trail of Montpellier midfielder Remy Cabella but have not yet tabled a fresh bid.
Reports from France on Wednesday evening suggested that the Magpies had made an offer of 12 million Euros – around £9.5million – for the 24-year-old France international they first tried to sign as a replacement for Yohan Cabaye in January.
However, sources on Tyneside have insisted that is not the case, although their interest in the player is ongoing as Alan Pardew looks to further bolster his squad for the new season.
Cabella has indicated his willingness to consider a move to St James’ Park despite Montpellier president Louis Nicollin’s antipathy towards Newcastle, but all efforts to prise him away have to date come to nothing.

Relegation battle……champions league
Tough choice right there
Why do people expect these lads who have zero affiliation or personal ties to the club to be loyal?
Surely there only chasing £££ when they sign for us from France?
We sell the club as a platform for these lads to boost there career why so surprised when they take the opportunity promised to them?

I agree m8 .
The days of a player like Shearer turning down Man U are a thing of the past.
Every club in the world other than Real Madrid are a selling club and every player has a price.
Yes it is gutting to se players like Cabaye, Debuchy & Ba leave but no player is bigger than the club at the end of the day.
I am fine with that, but under Ashley we never spend the full amount recieved for a player which is unforgivable.

They’ve lost so many players, there like the Spanish Southampton!
Did Thiago re sign for Chelsea?
Chelsea also after Fillipe Luis, Diego gone, Miranda wants out, Courtois loans finished, David Villa gone
They had a small squad to begin with, can’t understand why they are all bailing though you’ve just won the league and made the CL final!
