AC Milan Now After Newcastle Transfer Target

Newcastle still have to bring in at least one striker this summer and Arsenal’s Joel Campbell, Borussia Dortmund’s Patrick Aubameyang and Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku are three of our current targets if the news is to be believed, but it seems like AC Milan have become interested in Joel Campbell, the striker who played very well for Costa Rica in the World Cup in Brazil.

Joel Campbell – Arsenal’s Costa Rica striker

Arsenal are trying to negotiate a deal to get AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli to the Emirates and the news this morning is that the Italian powerhouse want to take Joel in part exchange, which will not be good news for Newcastle.

Arsenal have consistently denied they are interested in the former Manchester City and Italian International striker, but there is news in several Italian papers today that negotiations are ongoing, and that Milan want to take Joel Campbell the other way.

Campbell joined Arsenal three years ago this summer, and has been loaned out in every season to get playing time and he has played 111 times for various clubs ( Lorient, Real Betis and Olympiacos) with 17 goals, and there’s a possibility Arsenal may want to send him out on loan this season – that’s if he doesn’t end up permanently at AC Milan…

But it seems that nothing is imminent on the transfer front for Newcastle right now, with 23 year-old Alexandre Lacazette of Lyon being another striker target, but the lad has just signed a new three-year deal to stay at the French club.

Loan will save Ash money but what’s the point in setting up a team to play to a certain strikers strengths for him to leave after one year.

Ash you have bought some decent players….finish the job with a proven striker and commanding CB.

Campbell is off to Italy, lukaku is only ever going to go to Everton and we have got more chance of getting shearer to lace his boots up than we have of getting people!

After two games, my thoughts on those playing:

Elliott…..Agree with Expatmag, needs to improve kicking
    MYM…….Still looks nervous. Very worrisome.
Taylor….Solid. Definitely not a full back.
    Colo….Imperious. Real class act.
Haidara….Excellent. Looks much stronger than before.
Abeid….OK but not good enough as first team choice.
Anita….OK but not guaranteed in new starting lineup
    Colback….Agree with Expatmag. Very Impressive.
    Gouffran….Back to his best. Excellent.
Riviere…..Has strength and pace but jury out IMHO.
De Jong….Very classy player. First on team sheet.
    Aarons…Very exciting. Similar to Sterling.
Satka….OK but looks too thin for a centre back.
    Armstrong…..Excellent. Very quick feet.
    Campbell….Jury still out.
    Perez….Very pleasantly surprised.
    Vuckic…Has no significant attribute.
    Dummett…Below Haidara in pecking order.

    Their likely futures:

    Elliott…………On the Bench
MYM………..On the Bench or out on Loan.
    Taylor………..First Team.
    Colo…………..First Team..
    Haidara………First Team..
    Anita………….On the Bench.
    Colback………First Team.
    Gouffran……..First Team.
    Riviere………..First Team.
    De Jong………First Team.
    Aarons……….On the Bench
    Armstrong…..On the Bench.
    Campbell……..Out on Loan.
Perez……………On the Bench (as he is Pardew’s boy)
Dummett……..On the Bench or out on Loan.

Possible line up against Man City

    Janmaat – Williamson/Saylor – Colo – Haidara
    Tiote – Colback
Cabella – De Jong – Gouffran

i never really believed in this transfer, us going for campbell i mean. Also whats all this talk about balotelli going to arsenal? My best friend is a big ac milan supporter and he says there’s no truth behind it since the top brass at the club have said they’re keeping him.

Still need that 15-20 goal striker, upto the box we looked good but no cutting edge – preseason still i know.

Adding in Cabella, Sissoko, Tiote, Janmaat, Krul etc will obviosuly improve further but need the quality up front and at the back.

    Over to you Mike………

Sissoko in for Gouffran and you would probably have it spot on !

If there are any more signings (possibly only two) then my choice would be a centre forward and a creative midfield player.

I can see Colback and Tiote as a hard working, tough tackling defensive partnership but don’t see the killer pass from them. I can see the killer pass from De Jong but am not sure that is his role. He looks like a Nolan replacement albeit thinner, younger, faster and more skillful. Perhaps Grenier is the answer alternating with Colback especially in home games where we need to be attacking more than defending ?

I’m not sure of Riviere as a centre forward. Yes, he is quick and strong but being the lone striker is tough. Perhaps the formation will be the key. In away games he should be good on the quick break.

I want to sign at least one forward / Striker !

The question is though, Who? Benteke is injured, and Carroll too !

Bas Dorst from Wolfsberg would be a possible but he is untested in the Prem, Feyenoord tried to sign him last week but the player turned them down. It would seem Bas see,s a return to the Dutch Eerdivisie as a backwards step ?
