We expect Newcastle to announce their seventh signing of the summer, when Facundo Ferreyra of Shakhtar Donetsk is announced tomorrow, or at the latest on Tuesday – since the deal is already done and dusted.
Alexandre Lacazette – still a Newcastle target
But we don;t think that will be it for Newcastle in the transfer market, and we could see a striker and a central midfield player arrive before the transfer window ends on September 1st.
Two Lyon players Clement Grenier and Alexandre Lacazette are still on Newcastle’s radar screen, but any of these signings will probably take place late in the window.
Newcastle need a central midfielder to take over from the departed Yohan Cabaye, and we need a player with skill, flair and creativity if we are to replace Yohan for the this coming season.
And another striker that Newcastle are still monitoring is Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has recently said he doesn’t want to leave the German club – but Dortmund may be willing to let him go before September rolls around – and we was our top transfer target last summer.
And the Loic Remy situation is still a fluid one, and if no big club comes in for him and it gets late in the transfer window, don’t be too surprised if Newcastle make one more attempt to sign him.
But it’s also true that a number of Newcastle fans have been (completely) turned off the French International, because he simply doesn’t seem to want to join Newcastle.
And Newcastle looked poor in defense in the first half yesterday in the 3-1 defeat by Malaga, and we need to bring in another defender, maybe a center-back to solidly our defense, which has been a Newcastle weakness over the last two seasons.
So even though we have successfully brought in seven good players so far this summer, we don’t expect Facundo Ferreyra to be our last summer signing.
What do you think?

Comment #121Same Pardew bashers, rolling out the same tired opinions. It’s getting really boring. That’s all they are opinions, which, you are entitled to. You are not entitled to your own facts though! If Pardew is so bad, how did we finish top five ? Oh that’s right it was the players, but when the manger was not backed and players sold off it’s his fault when we underachieve. I have seen many managers at Newcastle and ican safely say there have been many bad appointments. I for one would not like to see yet another manager brought in only for some of the same people here to call for their head a year from now because we did not make champions league…

Comment #122Black and White, essentially the difference then is you have already pre judged what the season will bring. You may of course be correct. but then again you could be wrong.

the season we came 5th was mostly luck on our half, not many teams where expecting Pardew to play hoofball since Newcastle have a record of quick attacking style, but the second season Pardew was in charge he got found out and look what happened ever since.
now with an improved squad you will still see the same style hoofball from Pardew.
still not convinced ah well look at fat sam what he did at Bolton same old hoofball tactics that other teams weren’t prepared for and he had success then he went to another team with the same style and now he’s on the verge of getting sacked and many WHU fans don’t want him there

I get why people want him gone, imo he’s not up to it and his relationship with the fans is beyond repair
I think in the past he’s shown with the right players he can have us playing good football
We’ve bought well in some areas but still failed imo to address the key area of defence but i don’t think, with the exception of SDJ, we’ve really bought Pardew players if that makes sense
Think he’s under real pressure this first 10 games but even with that surely as fans it’s more beneficial for us to be proved wrong and see him and the squad excell rather than be proved right and see us in real trouble, which we could well be given MA’s history of employment?
Not saying the signs are there he will do well, or that we shouldn’t sack him in fear of who could be next, but i sure as f**k won’t celebrate each loss as some sad individual victory over a bunch of people on an internet site!!!

Comment #133Our midfield and forward line are unrecognisable from the team that got promoted, yet our defence is virtually the same. We have not made any significant improvement in the centre of defence in four years.

Pardew plays the wrong tactics for nufc. We all know that. Doesnt mean i dont want him to get it right, no matter how unlikely. Its the snivvely gloating when we lose i find pathetic. Fans and followers should not behave that way to other fans and followers. We all supposedly support the same tame after all.

Comment #135We have talented midfielders who can pass the ball well but we need to play through them to their strengths & not bypass them playing long balls up for the likes of Perez & Riviere to hold up play as this is just not going to happen.
I can’t believe Mbiwa is still being played as a fullback, this is the former captain of a league winning team who played at cb, who we i presume scouted in this position, purchased him to play in this position & now Pardew plays him rb….really!!!
It is early in the season but Pardew needs to implement this new front foot attacking strategy quickly, intergrating & getting the players to understand the new formation & what he demands from them as players.
This is what Van Gaal has done at Man Utd but unfortunately Pardew is certainly no Van Gaal!!!!

Comment #136Black and White ! Luck! C’mon listen to yourself! What followed was a European campaign and summer recruit drive that never materialised and guess what we struggled! Like I said you need to look at all the variables, the manager is only one factor. With the right players we will play a more attacking style. I agree with you with regard to Big Sam, a complete bluffer who plays awful football regardless of players.

tell you what, there’s absolutely nothing more boring than someone wheeling that one out again, while totally ignoring all the records broken and club demos at West ham and charlton, as well as not being able to leave his own dug out here.
The year we came 5th all the stars aligned, raylor got injured so benny finally got a game and pardew had to play ba, Cisse and ben Arfa in a front 3.
Happy days as those 3 scored amazingly individual brilliant goals while we also got a lot of reffing decisions. Then Pardew ditched it and we blew 4th place.
Pardew has one top 6th finish in a near 20 year managerial career, but has nearly relegated 3 different clubs and had the worst losing record at WHU and us.
Pardew like Souness, has always fallen out with top players from Tevez and Mascherano to Ben Arfa. Good managers like SBR get the best out of them.

Comment #138If Pardew and that’s a big IF want’s the best out of Newcastle he should get the lads to play like they against Manure last season with a 1-0 away win.
this was beautiful what he did there, high pressing quick attacking style he also used this against Chelsea in a 2-0 win at home when Sissoko scored 2 goals.
if Pardew want’s the fans back he got to play this style every game

how can we play attacking style when Pardew has them playing defensive all the time, the season we came 5th he had them playing defensive and hitting the teams on the counter.
its good to hit teams on the counter when against big teams or playing away but at HOME?
C’mon you listen to yourself!

i don’t think it is snivelly gloating, more like just sheer anger and frustation being at the end of our tether watching a guy tell everyone ” he plays on the front foot” when on the evidence of yesterday nothing has change at all.
We’ve had nearly 4 years being told he learns from his mistakes but again we see no evidence of that. there is still no pass and move, no cohesion, no fluidity.
We’ve got some cracking players who deserve a far better manager who actually does know what he is doing.

Comment #147If Pardrew was any real sort of manager and could crawl past his own ego, he would admit his inability to create an attacking team and bring in an attacking coach to help put things right. Even when every man and his dog can see where we are having problems on the pitch, Pardrew doesn’t, he seems to be convinced that our defence is ready for another premiership season, and that it’s the midfield and attack letting us down.

Comment #156Rotunda, Ben Arfa has fallen out with every manager he has ever had! I don’t see a queue of teams waiting to sign him now ? Do you ? Raylor was in fantastic form btw. After we finished fifth the team was never sufficiently strengthened, we were playing really well up to Christmas. (How did that happen Rotunda?), despite only one loan signing, then Cabaye sold, remy injured and we struggled. These are facts. What you are stating is an opinion.

Aye mate and for AP to be a defensive coach he doesn’t know how to set up defensive positions, I personally think Pardew has set up Newcastle like it was back when Pardew was a defender himself ( and not a good one at that )
