Curtis Good is one of our promising young defenders who we brought in a couple of years ago from Melbourne Heart for around £400K, and he made his debut for Newcastle about a year ago against Morecambe in the League Cup, and after the first 20 minutes or so of that game he settled down well, and had a good game at center-back.
Curtis Good in action on March 5th for Australia
Curtis has progressed quite well in his two years at Newcastle, and he received his first cap for Australia against Ecuador on March 5th, and apparently had a great game.
But he was withdrawn after the hour mark in that games, because of what at the time seemed a slight hip injury – but he’s still out injured with it.
The injury caused him to miss the World Cup this summer in Brazil – and that would have been some great experience for him – and it even looked odds-on he would make the final 23 man Australian squad, but he was not fit.
Since then, he has had some surgery on the hip, and the youngster is currently recuperating, but no word from Alan Pardew or the club about a date when he will be returning to training.
It’s been six months since the 21 year-old was first injured, and with Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa having been sent out on loan last Monday, it could be that Curtis is our 4th best center-back for the season – and when fit he could be given a chance to show what he can do in the first team.
We don’t expect to hear from Alan Pardew until late next week in his press conference for the important game at Southampton a week today, but maybe we can get an update then on how Curtis is doing.
It could be an opportunity for the Australian that we have three experienced center-backs in the squad, because Alan Pardew may give him a chance – maybe.
When we’ve seen Curtis play he’s been a good steady center-back who is keen to learn and seems to have a great attitude.
We hope Curtis will be fit and well again soon, and be ready to do a job – possibly in the first team this year

Somebody, I shit you not, said there was a link between collapsed lungs and calf and groin injuries, for me that is ground breaking science as I’m sure the medical world would love to know about it.

midfield is key and busy area in a playing field.which requires a lot of battle and energy.yes I do had better option than him, shelvey, payet to mention
some.Siem is here to succeed cabaye right.looking at him against villa, there is no way he will take playmaking role, bcoz he is slow, and didn’t saw him dribbling,I don’t know if I ‘ve been too hard on him,but time will tell about his talent.
what I do know is that if u had collapsed lung, you will not be same player like before.

Comment #45Can people please stop feeling sorry for Pardew.
He happily signed his eight year contract, he was happy working under the conditions set by Ashley, he is happy to protect his employer at every turn, but the main reason fans have it in for him is simply because he’s a shit manager.
“HBA has an unprofessional attitude” claimed the manager who was banned for head butting an opposition player.
He’s public enemy No# 1 because of his style of play/or lack there of, his tactics/or lack there of and his for his lack of integrity, honesty, overall ability and the overriding fact he has the backbone of a jellyfish.
If you want to feel sorry for anyone, then feel sorry for the thousands of fans that shell out money to support a regime that constantly pisses all over us

Comment #47I think the whole plan of building your team around a player with no experience of the league and a questionable injury record over the last 12 months was completely flawed.
Not surprised though.

He was slow because he was not match fit and hadn’t played, it’s not rocket science you know, yes he’s here to replace Cabaye but he’s been here two minutes and fickled fans such as yourself have already written him off.
Earlier you mentioned Colo as a good player, well when he first came here he was three yards off the pace, his positional awareness was woeful and he had the turning circle of an oil tanker, but he improved when he settled into the type of football that is played in this league.
Judge de Jong AFTER his first season and not before he’s hardly kicked a bloody ball.
As for Shelvey………………….I guess that say’s it all really

Comment #49He’s a good player, but was probably only bought because he was a lot cheaper than previous windows.
Would have rather spent the money on another striker, if I was given the option.

Comment #54I Give up. Point is this: With Toby in their defence, they have now covered the departure of Lovren. Tadic and Long will give our defence a lot of pain. Only hope is if Tiote and Colback can the midfield battle..

Probably been scouted, offered at 10M, legally tapped up and sat out his contract until the reported fee was agreed on, why he has done this as a captain and long term player at Ajax remains susceptible.

I have to admitt that Colo become good player bcoz of pardew.so does Tiote,Ba,and colbaack.Colo become top defender in 11/12 bcoz AP worked too hard on him.Ba become natural goal scorer under AP,Tiote best DMF,colback… the Master
so u cannot say he is inept mgr,you can not say players don’t improve under pardew, because what we see is what we believe,!!

Colo was an international class centre half when he came here from Deportivo who came good under Houghton NOT Pardew.
Ba was always a natural goalscorer, just check his record in Germany etc etc, (plus he was already doing it at West Ham) Tiote showed the form he had while at Twente and has since gone backwards while Colback has done nothing here that he wasn’t already doing at Sunderland so all in all Pardew’s input has been what exactly???????????????????

and by the way there is a massive difference between improving as a player and simply continuing the form you had when joining the club. Of all the players Pardew has had I can honestly only think of two, possibly three that have improved under him while the majority have regressed

Comment #60Prediction that next week will be the first of the season where we concede 4 or more goals they will just keep attacking and bombing players forward like last seasons away game against them which was pretty much one of the most embarrassing defeats that I have ever seen from a Toon team
Shane Long will run Colo ragged last season Mbiwa had Long in his back pocket when we beat Hull 4 – 1 no pace at the back means we will be camped on our 18 yard box

Colo was error prone under hughton, you can review his videos.he used to make school boy errors on the field. But he was changed much starting 11/12.
Ba was 5-8 goal player in his previous clubs,
Tiote unknown and like jemba jemba..
colback well I called him the master, the new Redondo for Newcastle..
anyway time will tell regarding the mgr.

R u still going backward like old Ferraris??

Colo is still error prone and has had one decent/consistent season here.
Tiote was unknown?
Maybe to you mate, to some of us he was known about for a long time.
Ba has always been a 1 in 3 striker.
Colback is okay, nothing more and certainly nothing special
And you my friend must be a WUM

Comment #64Does anyone else see a similarity between supporting England and Newcastle?
Always high expectations
Always disappointing performances
Always regurgitated phrases after failing
England players’ stock phrase being “the disappointment of the latest tournament will drive us on” or “the players were tired after a long season”
Newcastles stock phrases being something about injuries or not being able to compete in the transfer market with big clubs (like Southampton and hull)
My life is going to consist of constantly hoping one of my teams can perform to their potential (which in both cases would win a trophy) but being sadly disappointed every year!

Comment #65Siem’s goal nicking ability from shots round the box would have nicked Pardud a number of points like Remy and Cabaye did with little to no teamwork needed.
Without him, there will be a drop in our ‘goals for’ which means that we’re going to have further confidence issues as those goals would have been to make or break a game which we’d usually either draw or pinch by one.
When margins are fine, like with Pardew’s defensive game, every goal for us can be crucial.
More pressure on Anal Pardboo.
Hopefully it can be a pressure cooker atmosphere against Hull like it was in the Cardiff game. Ben Arfa’s release is like chucking fuel on a bonfire.
Burn…

Comment #75Regardless of the players on either team.
Does anyone here actually think our game against the Saints will be entertaining.
Our best shot of a win is a moment of individual brilliance or a shocking display on there part.
Either way its going to be rubbish ,as usual these days.
Myself i think i will for the first time just not bother even listening to it.Sadly its just not worth it anymore.
